Well done mummydoc for 2pounds off. I think ill join you in trying to get more exercise in. Its alot easier to see how much exercise i normally dont do now that i have my pedometer. I can imagine that some days id only have done something like 2000 steps, on days when i didnt leave the house.
Does anyone know what the little white marks are that you sometimes get on your nails? As a kid I was told it means not enough calcium, but ds had one on one of his nails and he has so much milk.

loopity · 08/11/2006 12:45

Hi Blb, have heard the calcium thing about white marks but I always thought it was more likely to be down to "knocking" the nail - could be wrong though, have you tried googling it?

OP posts:
BIGlilBUBU · 08/11/2006 13:39

Just googled it, apparently they are called leukonychia, and your right. Its most likely that they are caused but a small knock to your nail. Fungal infections can also cause them. Sometimes you can get them if you have psoriasis. Or the old wifes tale, dificiency in calcium and zinc.
I think he probably knocked his nail.
Just had my lunch. Was very good

loopity · 08/11/2006 16:14

Am currently wearing my pedometer with pride!

What does everyone use for their stride length - can't find a ruler to work mine out - I'm 5' 4" tall
Thanks

hiya
just a quicky for my food and steps 4 yesterday,
breakfast begget with egg salad no mayo or anything
lunch 2 ryvita with low fat cottege cheese and black pepper and some chives
dinner veg curry and plaine white rice
drinks coffee no suger and skimed milk,
steps yesterday came to ........... 20592 and that was 7.77 miles,
today my steps so far up to 21067!
i do a hell of alot of walking every day so it prob dosent relly add to weight loss for me cos my bodys used to it,
today for an example
took kids to school (mile walk there)
then went round the shops for a good houer
then we went down to the sea frount walked along by the beach pushing the buggys for an houer or so then back the long way through town and home for a quick clean up (wich can add mad steps) then back to school another mile then back up through town and home another mile,
we boath have pedomiters and come out with about the sameish amount of steps in a day so im sure they work ok,
and all the walking is keeing me away from eating all the food in my frige in a day
and i have been sleeping better, maybe all the sea air,
had quite alot of stress on my mind this week so hoping it will help for me having a weight loss but will find out tomoro

BIGlilBUBU · 08/11/2006 18:09

Wow thats great dislexic icecream, I think you'll have a pleasant suprise tomo when you get on the scales. I wish I had a routine that involved that much walking. I should think one up.
Todays food
Breakfast Bowl of wheatabix with semi skimmed milk. An apple a hand full of grapes and 2 satsumas.
Lunch Salad with alot of lettuce red peppers and cucumber with bits of chicken and bits of sliced ham (fat cut off ham, no skin on chicken).
Dinner wholewheat pasta with peas and onions.
Snacks just quite alot of fruit.
Im trying to get lots of fruit and veg in. Its good I havnt felt hungry all day.
So far I have done 11063, thats one trip through the park to the shops and back, the rest is just running around my house hoovering and cleaning up after ds.
Im of to the cinema tonight with my friend so this will mean more steps, but it also means avoiding sweets and popcorn. I will do it. I want some sort of loss on thoughs scales. From the week Ive had thats very unlikly.

MrsFish · 08/11/2006 20:01

dislexicicecream - how did you measure your stride... I ask because I did a 5 mile walk which pretty much adds up to my 10,000 steps, I also drove the route in my car which worked out to 5 miles too. So by my reckoning you have done about 10 miles today.

I have been stuck in all day today, managed about 5000 steps as the weather was atrocious. Supposed to be better tomorrow so will try and get out more.

Will deffo not have a loss tomorrow, am praying for a stay the same again.

Food today Been bad, all bread- 2 w/m and low fat spread, 2 weetabix and hot water, I crumpet and lf spread, 2 ryvita with philly light and lemon curd, pickled egg, 2 toast and lemon curd, half a teacake, Mr Kipling Angel cake slice.

Salmon fishcake and salad for dinner.

Will start with a clean slate tomorrow, if I am up on the scales it will probably spur me on to be megga good next week.

mumtogusnalbie · 08/11/2006 20:17

Hi everyone - well for my first day you would think I would have will power but I obviously don't!
For breakfast I had 2 slices of wholemeal bread with low fat spread, not a bad start but then my day started to go wrong and whilst waiting for the breakdown truck to take my car down to the garage (!!) I ate a large packet of crisps left over from my halloween party. For lunch I had a bacon and fried egg roll. I tried to make up for it with dinner by having a stir fry with low fat sweet and sour sauce - all going well until I remembered my mum had given me some doughnuts for me and the boys. I ate mine, even though I didn't really want it and then ate half of eldest sons because he didn't want it - oh dear.
Still, back at work tomorrow so should be able to keep busy and off the bad food.
I can't even be bothered to get my stepper out tonight but going away at the weekend with estranged husband and children so will probably feel better about myself if I do.
BIGlilBUBU, I have 2 boys who are 4 and 2.5 but suffered post natal depression after the second and am still on the AD's - I have consequently gained 1.5 stone and now I am slowly reducing my dose I figured now was a good time to try and shift it.
I will post my weight tomorrow as I haven't weighed myself for ages so it will probably be a bit of a shock - all I know is that my old jeans are really too tight now and I can't afford a new wardrobe!!
Good luck everyone
Lindsey

costababe · 08/11/2006 20:28

Hi to all, wow to the stepping queens!!, hoping to get a pedomeer this weekend.

Btw, dislexicicecream - your step counts are great, well done !

OP posts:
mumtogusnalbie · 08/11/2006 21:57

I feel I may have just redeemed myself by completing 1/2 hour on my stepper - yippee!!
Maybe I do have motivation after all - the sweat dripping down my back must mean something musn't it?

BIGlilBUBU · 08/11/2006 22:35

Costababe are you weighing yourself first thing in the morning before you eat? I always make sure I weigh myself in the morn before food. You can apear to have gained loads of weight if you weigh yourself at odd times. Always make sure you weigh yourself at the same time of day otherwise it can be very inacurrate.
Yeh mumtogusnalbie bet that half hour on the stepper helped loads. Especially if your sweating!!Well done. Is your name a mixture of your kids names? Sorry to ask i've just been trying to work it out. Or is gusnalbie one of your kids name?

BIGlilBUBU · 08/11/2006 22:36

MrsFish · 09/11/2006 08:11

Good morning.

As I suspected I am showing a gain this week I have been rubbish though, got a very irritating cough that has kept me awake the last 3 nights too, which hasn't helped my willpower. Also its period week, so I am hoping that is what the gain is. Showing one pound up from last week.

Motivation for this week has kicked in full force though, so we shall see
