Hi! My name is(n't) Humble and I'm fat.
I need to get back on the low carb, where I was losing weight and happy.
I need to be moving about, walking usually, because if I don't its all over for me.
I have to lose weight. I must. And this time I must keep it off.

If anyone wants to join me, or has positive advice to offer, please post. I'm feeling like I live in a fat universe of one, right now.

Please do join in, Lucky. I'm failing on my own thread today, eating biscuits. I've had a kick in the backside from an acquaintance who tells me if I really want to lose weight, I'll do it. So, another fresh start tomorrow. And some healthy, low cal soup for supper.

I haven't heard of the virtual gastric band. I lived on smoothies for a while after the gp offered me a gastric band but I didn't want the op. I'll google the virtual... :)

I'm still Humble and I'm still fat. Even fatter. 119.4. This is my own fault. I know this.

Humble, my lovely, you are weighing too often! Everyone will fluctuate over the course of a week. I work in a healthcare setting, and our dietitian weighs even her trickiest patients only weekly. You are today less than when the thread started a week ago.

LuckySaint · 20/07/2014 15:41

All weighing should be done once a week (at the most) Humble, first thing in the morning naked and after a wee etc

I've been good food wise for the past few days and we've been for a walk in the woods today and I didn't have an icecream when the dcs had one

I've been logging my food on an app called Noom.
I didn't like mfp, it nagged me too much :o
And this app allows you more calories depending on height, weight etc.

Hi.
Thanks for that. I'm not a beginner, I've been doing this for over forty years. I'll weigh when it suits me, thank you. You might want to do it differently, and that's fine.

I'm glad you're being virtuous. I'm not so much. The problem is in my head... Sad

HumblePie - if it would help you, the next Low Carb Bootcamp starts tomorrow

This one is only 5 weeks long (rather than the usual 10).

CecyHall · 20/07/2014 18:35

That was a bit uncalled for Humble, people are only trying to be supportive and helpful.

We all know it's hard, we wouldn't be taking part in a thread like this if it wasn't, from your posts it would seem that weighing often isn't helping your mental well being and we can only go on what we read and take from the posts and give advice accordingly. If you don't agree that's fine but there are nicer ways to say it.

CecyHall · 20/07/2014 18:38

As for my update I've had a shocker of a week and not done anything I said I would, I'm starting bootcamp tomorrow so I'm hoping that will give me some focus as I've put on 2 bloody kilos!

Ive slowly been changing my lifestyle since the start of this month.

I have changed my lifestyle before, 2 years ago I too took up running and did Paul McKenna. I lost about a stone then. I stopped listening to Paul Mckenna, but carried on the running. I then gave 5:2 a go (although this was very short lived and I never actually managed a proper 5:2. it was more like 6:1 so converted to 16:8 which was easier. I lost another half stone.

I then started eating more, then hurt my knee and then went on holiday so two weeks eating and drinking far too much Blush. I am now back up to 11 stone 8 (at one point a few months ago I actually weighed 10 stone 9)

I then decided that for the first half of this year I let myself go and now I am making small changes. Baby steps. Developing new habits. OK so Im not going to lose lots of inches or lbs quickly, but hopefully with time I can be much much healthier which in turn will help me to lose weight and give me the motivation I need.

July has been all about water, fruit and porridge. I will drink 2 litres a day at least of water, I will have at least 1 piece of fruit a day and breakfast will be porridge.

In regards to weighing. I used to weigh myself everyday and worked out my average and used that as my weight. It also helped me to see how much my weight differs depending on what I ate the day before etc. This time however, Im trying not to weigh myself too much as I know it wont have changed much.

I just know my motivation to lose weight went away and so I decided to change a couple of things at a time, give them a month (it takes 30 days to create a habit apparently) and then introduce more things. August is about moving more. Exercise twice a week at least (will up this in time if it doesn't come naturally)

So thats how Im doing my lifestyle change.

No, that wasn't helpful. But people are free to post what they like and I am free to respond. Ultimately, if we lose some weight we'll all be 'winners'. I wish everyone well.

Humble, my lovely, you are weighing too often
but honestly, you lot need to realise there's more than one way to skin a cat...

that's a saying, by the way. i won't be skinning any cats... or stuffing any hamsters... Grin

bootcamp? woohoo! lost a stone last time. put it back on, though. will catch up with bootcamp later in the week, there's too much wrong stuff in the house at the moment.

OP posts:
LuckySaint · 20/07/2014 23:57

I'm leaving this thread now, I thought it would be supportive but it's obviously not.
I wish you all well.

HumblePieMonster · 21/07/2014 07:13

I'd leave, but its my thread! So, here I am. Breakfast got to me before weighing today, so that's put off till tomorrow. Nonetheless, I'm happy and looking forward to a good day. :)

OP posts:
HumblePieMonster · 22/07/2014 06:33

Down a bit today, so that's good. :) Still involved in things that keep me in the house, so not getting exercise.

OP posts:
HumblePieMonster · 23/07/2014 09:13

Day off today. Something happening at lunchtime.

Doitforme · 24/07/2014 08:17

Humble you may have been dieting for forty years but what you have been doing up till now obviously hasn't worked, otherwise you wouldn't be here 40 years on trying to still lose the same ( and probably more) weight again and again.

HumblePieMonster · 24/07/2014 19:14

Hello, thank you for your input, doitforme.

You can't be me. I can't be you. I'll do things my way, thank you.

OP posts:
Doitforme · 26/07/2014 18:24

Do it your way of course but when people on this thread have offered help you have been very rude. Are you surprised they all stopped posting. Hmm

HumblePieMonster · 26/07/2014 23:05

Going well so far.
Doitforme, I haven't been rude.
If they post or not, that's up to them. Same goes for you.
