Hi! My name is(n't) Humble and I'm fat.
I need to get back on the low carb, where I was losing weight and happy.
I need to be moving about, walking usually, because if I don't its all over for me.
I have to lose weight. I must. And this time I must keep it off.

If anyone wants to join me, or has positive advice to offer, please post. I'm feeling like I live in a fat universe of one, right now.

Don't catastrophise though

I had an incident with some buttercream (promised the DC we would bake during a playdate yesterday afternoon. But if that's the worst I do all week I can still lose weight.

Julius02 · 15/07/2014 09:27

I had a bad day yesterday; I knew I would as had arranged to meet a friend I hadn't seen for a while for drinks and a meal. Three glasses of wine and a curry :-(

Determined to do a bit better today though and trying to psyche myself up to go for a walk/run. It's the getting out of the door I find hardest.

HumblePieMonster · 15/07/2014 09:35

Its true, its the keeping going that makes the difference.

Hello, may I join in too? I've been slowly and steadily putting on weight over the years.

I'm currently at 75kg (11.8 stone) and want to get down to 60kg (9.4 stone) by next summer.

I'd quite like to get down to 65 by Christmas as we have a massive family reunion with people who haven't seen me since I put on weight.

I'm not sure where to start really, DH and I eat really well (lots of fresh fruit and veg, no processed food), but far too much. Neither us drink wine, although I'll have a rum and diet coke from time to time, I'm pretty sure I can manage without that!

We both need to move a bit more, but it's so bloody hot here (south of France) that we lack motivation!

What things do I really need to do? Lots of you are talking about drinking water. And juices, what's all that about? I've got a juicer in the cupboard, should I be getting it out?

HumblePieMonster · 16/07/2014 07:14

Everyone is welcome!

This morning I am a little lower in weight, 119.0. Not much, but in the right direction. I've measured, too, and find there is not that much difference between my height and my circumference. Blush Not that I'm surprised.

The juicing lady is apparently a spammer. I haven't thought about juicing yet - currently I'm using up the food in the house.

Did you do the low carb boot camp with mn in May? The info is still online. I found it very helpful. It takes out the fruit, which is counter-intuitive if you've been brought up on it, but it does make for weight loss.

:)

Oh, I must write down that I did two (shorter than optimum) walks yesterday. Need to get organised for three proper ones.

OP posts:
PBnM · 16/07/2014 09:53

I can't do anything like low-carb, I just don't have the power! I'm just reducing portion size for now, and bulking out my plate with lettuce, tomatoes and pepper.

Last night I found a way to help prevent snacking in front of the TV: I brushed my teeth when we put the DCs to bed.

PBnM · 16/07/2014 09:54

Oh and DDog is over the moon at the extra walks!

HumblePieMonster · 16/07/2014 14:07

I'll try brushing my teeth more often.
I loved the low carb but I'm short of money at the moment and can't do anything 'extra' financially.

PBnM · 16/07/2014 15:11

This may sound like a daft question, but how do you know when y need to eat, and how do you know when you've had enough? I know what it feels like when you're really hungry, but I'm not sure I know what the "full up" sensation is.

HumblePieMonster · 16/07/2014 17:46

Hmm. I suppose you'd have to 'learn' by trial and error. Eat what you think is a normal portion, then stop. That's what I find hard. If its there, I have to eat it.

So, to find the full feeling, practise. Eat a bit, stop, wait. My gran always said you had to wait 20 minutes before you could decide if you needed more or not.

Another important thing is not to get very hungry. Eat as soon as you start to feel peckish, then you don't need to eat a lot at one time. Having safe foods is good. The low carb diet gave lots of protein and fat which really did change my desire/cravings for food - I stopped wanting so much, stopped wanting sweet things.

I'm sure other people will have hints to offer. I'm not an expert. If I'd been any good at this I'd still have the 22" waist!

Forgot to weigh. Hmm. Didn't get enough walks yesterday and spent too much time on the internet.

frankie80 · 17/07/2014 14:26

Hello can I join in?

My name is(nt) Frankie and I currently weigh 13 stone 1lb.

I did weigh 14.1 and through doing ww and exercise got down to 12.1 and felt fab.

But now although I'm still exercising, I haven't been following WW properly and slipped back into my old bad habits of eating chocolate, takeaways and large portions.

Ideally I'd like to get to 11 stone 7lbs (my wedding weight).

HumblePieMonster · 17/07/2014 16:00

:) The more the merrier! I'm hoping today will be a 'good' day for me, ready for weighing tomorrow.

Baddderz · 17/07/2014 16:08

Humble...I could have written your post!
I lost over 1.5 stone 2 years ago doing low carb.
And felt great.
I have gone back up to over 10 stone and feel dreadful...one reason I love low carb is that I am 99% sure I am gluten intolerant (my mum is coeliac)
Good luck!

bluecoconut · 17/07/2014 17:50

Hello, may I join too?

My name definitely is(n't) bluecoconut and I currently weigh 12 stone 11lb. My ideal would be 9 and a half but would be happy with ten.

My weight seems to yo yo from 11st 10lb back up to the 13 mark. Mainly due to exercise and healthy eating being on/off all the time. I always seem to be doing well and then I get ill or DS gets ill and I end up right back at square one.

I plan on starting again tomorrow. Reduce carbs, reduce fats and drink more water (I always find the latter so difficult to do!)

Breakfast is always hard for me as I'm not a huge yogurt fan and I really dislike eggs. Has anybody got any suggestions?

jerin · 17/07/2014 20:16

I've done rubbish this week so have started drastic action. If I kick start my weight loss, start to see results I'll be encouraged to stick at it. So I've started slimfast and I'm going to try and do that for up to 14 days. Hopefully that'll get my stomach shrunk, my appetite too and I'll be motivated to keep at it. Then by then I'll have a healthy eating plan and over the summer holidays I hope to start couch25k.

With this weather too, I long to wear lovely clothes rather than the frumpy cover everything things I live in at the moment! And next years planned holiday will hopefully keep me on track.....

HumblePieMonster · 18/07/2014 07:47

117.8. not much, but in the right direction.
still spending too much time on the internet.
not mobile enough - didn't leave the desk all day yesterday - sixteen hours of it.
but, haven't spent anything, and that has to be good. nearly ordered £300 worth of stuff online last night though. stopped myself, but I might still have to have it when I'm sure I can cover the payment.

Well, yesterday I went to the beach with my family, did ok food wise and plenty of exercise, but looking at the photos this morning is thoroughly depressing.

HumblePieMonster · 18/07/2014 11:18

Try to bear in mind that what looks bad to us, with all our memories, hopes and expectations of ourselves, doesn't look half so bad to other people.

OP posts:
HumblePieMonster · 18/07/2014 11:20

i've just spent £23+ in asda, on next to nothing. seven pounds of that was absolutely unnecessary, £1 was for a drink i'm now enjoying. £23 is more than i should spend in a week...

OP posts:
jerin · 18/07/2014 21:07

Evening all, hope you've all has successful days/week.

I've managed to stick to my drastic action plan and feel better today, although shopping was so hard as I was so nearly tempted in every aisle!

So I consider today my day 2 and I'm feeling positive. I've stocked up on slimfast and had a huge salad for my dinner piled with steamed beans. Copious amounts of water and 3 white coffees.

Ultimately I'd like to get down to 9 stone and a size 10. I'm currently just under 11 and a 14. But in flabby and I need to lose this and firm up. Bingo wings, stomach, bum, thighs.

HumblePieMonster · 18/07/2014 22:34

it would be fun to be nine stone and a size ten! I'm about five years work away from that... but, if I keep going, I might make it. if I was 12-14 that would be fine.
i think i need to start saving up for surgery to mask the damage I've done on the way up...

OP posts:
HumblePieMonster · 19/07/2014 08:31

Not weighing this morning. Got a bit 'I don't give a damn' yesterday afternoon. Need to have a better day today.

OP posts:
LuckySaint · 19/07/2014 08:45

I'm a bit late, but please may I join in?

My name isn't Lucky, I'm 5ft 7 and I weigh lots slightly more than I'd like to... Sorry but I can't write it on here, it'd make me cry.

I have lost 4lbs over the last 2 weeks though, which I'm pleased about.
I've been doing Paul M's virtual gastric band this week which does seem to be working, and it's giving me something to do instead of arsing about on mumsnet, Pinterest etc.

I need to start exercising again, I have an exercise bike at home which I used to use every day.
