70 days till holiday

Humansatnav · 24/05/2014 07:47

Hi all. Title says it all really, jet off in holiday 10 weeks today, last big family holiday.
2 years ago I lost 3st 4 lb on the Cambridge diet, but 1:5 stone has snuck back on , so the plan is to loose between 1-1:5 stone before I go, NOT on Cambridge ( For me its unsustainable).
I have decided to do 1 week on slimfast ( to use up products, tbh) then Slimming World, with guidance from my mum ( who has maintained on it for over 5 yrs) and a friend who is already on it. NOT going to local group ( history with group leader !) , but may join online .
Walking 30- 60 mins 4 times a week , hoping to start couch to 5k in 2 weeks time ( injury) and yoga on the wii fit twice a week.
Any tips or ideas very welcome, thank you for reading.

What's your height and weight? A stone and a half is completely achievable in 70 days - no alcohol, moderate carbs, no snacking and proper meals is the way to go - plus some activity Smile

Humansatnav · 26/05/2014 15:17

Hi TheWorld, I'm currently 13st 2lb and 5"6'.
Been pooring over the Slimming World books & recipes & it looks like a good plan .
Activity wise Ive started waklong for a49 mins a day & dh is going to give my bike the once over so I can start cycling to work a couple of times a week.

So, back to work today, sat in an office for 8 hours, plan to get out for a 20 min walk at lunchtime.
The only good thing is that Ive got my lunch ready to take with me, but the vending machine is still tempting Blush

Hi - can I join you on this - I have exactly 10 weeks to go to holiday, just started couch to 5K and want to lose 20lb or so .. 10 would be amazing though!

Would be good to have a buddy to keep me on track as alone I have managed to lose no weight for ooh 40 years!!

whodoesthisbigfatassbelongto · 27/05/2014 13:51

10 weeks for me too!

I've got tonnes to lose - could probably do with losing 5st in total anyway and I'm using the holiday as a reason to kick start. What do you think the maximum I could lose in 10 weeks would be?

I've lost weight on slimming world before and by calorie counting. I'm planning on soup/salads for next 10 weeks.

Will be checking back in for tips and progress. Good luck all.

Hi all, well that's my first day of Slimming World done ! What plans are you both on ? If we can all aim for 2lbs a week we will lose nearly 1:5 stone in 10 weeks Smile

Oh god can I join you ladies as in desperate help and need for diet buddies with similar time scales to me.

I'm getting married in the 2nd August and need to lose at least a stone by then... do you think I can do it? Currently in panicked self destruct mode and eating the world right now Sad

I'm 16 stone and 5'8" - no idea what I'm going to do or how to go about it as have such a rubbish relationship with food.

Help!!!

Humansatnav · 30/05/2014 07:47

Welcome Nessica, A stone by the 2nd of Aug should be do able.
I'm using Slimming World with walking/ yoga / cycling( when I get my bike fixed!.
I'm also finding it better to have 3 meals and no snacking.
Ill be weighing in on a Sunday morning so Ill be less tempted by wine/ takeaway on a Saturday evening Wink

Also, Nessica I'm going to take a selfie in my bikini after every weigh in , as a visual record ( that no one will ever see!)

I'm in just weighed myself am 154 pounds want to be 135. Am 5'6". Considering joining weight watchers but will see how I get on just with mfp.

I've been going to the gym two or three times a week since January so will keep that up.

My relationship with food is terrible. My meals are OK but snacking out of control. Any ideas as to books I could read to sort myself out?

Humansatnav taking a photo is a good plan but I would use a tape measure too. I have done this in the past and sometimes you can't see the weight loss but the tape measure can.

Humansatnav · 30/05/2014 16:48

Hi Anomaly, great idea, Ill do my measurements tonight.

TooBigNow · 30/05/2014 17:06

Anomaly I would recommend Paul McKenna's Emotional Eating book. I've stopped my cravings with it. Good luck!

Whycantibetangy · 31/05/2014 00:11

Can I join too? Its 63 days till my holiday and would love to shift some of this belly shelf before I go. Currently 10.13 and have lost 5lbs since giving up bread a fortnight ago Grin I'm only 5.3 and cant really use the baby weight excuse since my youngest is almost 7 Blush

Humansatnav · 31/05/2014 10:06

Welcome Whycant, wish I could say babyweight, but mine has been a love affair with the office vending machine Blush

OP posts:
Whycantibetangy · 31/05/2014 16:16

Aaah the vending machine, tempting you with their shiny glossy packets of loveliness bastards

Whycantibetangy · 31/05/2014 16:17

I have been really good so far today and have managed to refuse cake and ice lollies!

Humansatnav · 31/05/2014 16:30

I'm also feeling virtuous, and Ive saved enough syns for a couple of G& slimlineT's later Smile

How is everyone getting on? I've been good, considering its the weekend and we've had folk round.

I've bought that book TooBigNow. It looks good. Am putting pressure on DH to try it too. I expect he'd consider it a bit woo but worth a shot. Already thought twice about eating when I realised I really wasn't hungry.

Nessica · 02/06/2014 00:33

Hey guys... I'd love to say I've been good but had a total blow out this weekend and starting afresh tomorrow once the kids go back to School. I've decided to take the plunge and try the Cambridge diet. Meet the lady on Tuesday so really hope it gives me that burst I need!!!

Humansatnav · 02/06/2014 07:47

Hi all, I'm delighted to report a 2lb loss ( even after my couple of cheeky drinks turned into a mini pub crawlBlush)
So I'm now 13st on the dot with 9 weeks to go Smile.
I think we can all be proud of ourselves for taking positive steps.
Its hard changing the habits of a lifetime, I did break the cycle for over a year when I was on the Cambridge & It definitely was what I needed at the time, but in the last 6 months or so Ive started on the emotional eating road again.
Its great to have support here, as friends & some family have got an attitude of " you did well before, why did you let yourself put any back on ?"

I'll weigh myself tomorrow. I'm hoping to have at least stayed the same but praying for a loss.

I was "good" (how I hate that term!) at the beginning of the week, but stayed at inlaws for a few days at the end of the week so couldn't choose my own food. I'm hoping the extra walking I did while there has helped!

Hope everyone else manages topost a loss this week Smile

Humansatnav · 03/06/2014 07:28

Morning all! Hardly ate a thing yesterday - migraine, got a muzzy head today and Id usually od on carbs the day after a migraine, but a holiday dress I ordered in a size 12 arrived yesterday, so that's helping me focus Smile.
Hope you all have a good day .
