Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

C'mon Ladies...this thread has quite a negative vibe going on apart from the odd few who are keeping at it. You have to listen to your CDs and read your books and keep doing it every day in every single way or it just wont happen. Life will always get in the way but you have to keep doing it. Only you can make it happen so... Make it happen Smile

My goodness JD!. I agree with bindi about, well everything she said but I especially agree you should tell her where to stick her suggestions if she tries it again!

I think subconsciously I'm doing quite well! I got to 6pm tonight and realised I hadn't eaten much (felt ill but I think it was low blood sugar). I really like the FFEE CD. It takes me under in a way ICMYT doesn't. Did have a wobble today that I haven't lost loads of weight before Faithlet's christening on Sunday but this is a marathon not a sprint. it's ok I found my spanx recently! I have a gorgeous dress to wear and am going to spray tab myself and wear heels. I've also had my hair done today. I'll try to add a photo to my profile.

Gorgeous dress Faith. Thought it was a White Stuff one at first. Really pretty. Looking forward to seeing photos of your hair Smile

JDD · 30/05/2014 12:06

Thanks guys. I'm more determined ow to prove her wrong. I'm having my body fat percentage taken again on 30th June and I want to show her that I can get results without cutting out whole food groups.

Dosey · 30/05/2014 13:14

Hi there I am delurking to add some positive vibes. I bought the Freedom from Emtional Eating book just over two weeks ago after reading this thread. I had until this point never read any Paul Mckennas books before. I must say I am loving it. I am not over weight but I do have serious issues with food in that it's always on my mind. I crave chocolate and sugar like you wouldn't believe and mindlessly eat until I feel sick and uncomfortable. I could never get to lunchtime without eating my pack up I would then buy more lunch from the bakery at lunchtime.

I bought the book via the iPad bookshelf so it also went straight onto my iPhone. I did the havening technique for 7 days and I have listened to the freedom from Emtional eating track everyday for the last 18 days. I listen to it as soon as I wake up, just put my earphones in my phone and away I go. To me it's a refreshing way to wake up and start they day all positive and energised.

The results I am seeing is amazing. I can eat until I am full without that horrid bloating sick feeling. I tend to go from meal to meal without snacking but if I do feel hungry in between then I have something and that's fine too. I am loving the food I do eat and what's more I don't feel like I am even trying to do anything different. It feels so natural and I have adapted so naturally it's like my mind/body is telling me 'finally this is how you are supposed to do it'. I have lost 4lb since starting which is hardly surprising since I have dramaitcally cut down on naff food.

My mood swings have calmed down, I feel in control of them too. I am off work this week with dds for the school holidays. This week normally would have been a week for me to eat huge amount if sweets, cakes, biscuits and getting stressed out with dds, counting the hours to bedtime and eating even more once dds in bed. Now don't get me wrong I have had the odd slice of cake and other treats but I have had a ball with dds. We have had so much fun, I have been so relaxed it's amazing. I think the audio in the book has addressed feelings and issues I didn't realise were there.

On Monday I started reading I can Make you Smarter, I am seeing great results from that too but I guess that is a different thread!

Sorry it's so long, I just thought I would share this with you. Am off back to lurk now!!

Igggi · 30/05/2014 13:34

DOSEY run this by me again, please - if you buy for an ipad you get the cd (and dvd?) downloaded too? I have the book but will buy it again if I get the Havening onto my ipad that way!
Off to find out what an ipad shelf thingy is Grin

Dosey · 30/05/2014 14:45

Iggi if you go to IBooks on your iPad and buy it through there, all of the audios are on the book, similar if you bought it on a kindle.

Dosey · 30/05/2014 15:08

Also the kindle app on the iPad would do the same thing!

TooBigNow · 30/05/2014 16:46

Wonderful news Dosey!! I totally agree with you with the cravings. Mine have gone away too.

Igggi I have bought one of his books as an iBook, Change Your Life in 7 Days. The audio and video are embedded within the book. You play them within the book rather than in music/video.

I prefer listening to the audio as a CD track on iTunes as you can do it with the cover closed on the iPad. If you close the cover, the book audio stops immediately.

Igggi · 30/05/2014 17:28

Thank you both, will investigate tonight.

kazzawazzawoo · 30/05/2014 20:13

Hi, can I join in? I probably could do with losing a stone but am more worried about the reasons I eat. I eat when I'm stressed, bored, anxious ... and I eat until it's all gone. Today I bought and ate a bag of popcorn, a small bag of kettle chips and a small tobelerone Sad

I think I'm addicted to sugar. I've tried giving it up and have managed for months, but when I'm stressed sugar is my emotional crutch.

sorry for rambling. I'm going to have a look at the book. If I download it to kindle do I get the audio CD as well? I only have a basic kindle so don't think I can play an audio file.

Bindibach · 30/05/2014 20:53

Dosey Well done you. Sounds like its working well. I hav'nt seen "I can make you smarter" but am reading his "Confidence" book and listening to the CD with that as well as the "Thin" ones. I think the key is to just keep on doing it isn't it? Listening every day really seems to give me the edge and its easy to stop and then days go by and before you know it you have lost altitude with it. Thanks for telling us about your last two weeks. We need all the positive stories to help us keep at it. Would be lovely if you joined us Smile.

TooBigNow · 30/05/2014 21:10

Hi Kazzawazzawoo you are very welcome.

I didn't think you could get it as a kindle edition. I have only seen it as an iBook in the iTunes store. You can only read that version on an Apple product.

I have that one as a real book. You can copy the audio cd onto a computer and share it with a phone/mp3 player. You can't legally copy the DVD with the Havening on it though.

Dosey · 30/05/2014 22:26

I don't have a kindle but have the kindle app on the iPad so I am not sure how it would work on a kindle. Kazza this has helped me so much with my sugar cravings. We had a pub lunch tonight and I didn't fancy a pudding which is so not like me at all. I didn't even have anything when I got home to make up for it. It just never entered my mind. I would definitely give this a go.

Bindi I have started a new role at work and I am having trouble remembering all the new stuff so I am hoping his Smarter books works as well as his emotional eating. I will tell more next week at work. I have read the book and I listen to he audio on a night before I go to sleep. Though I haven't got a clue what it's about as I hardly get past the counting from 300 part before I am asleep. I listen the the smarter audio before I go to bed and listen to the Emtional eating one when I wake up! There is no wonder I am in a good place at the moment! I don't want to stop listening at the moment in case I go back to my old ways.

Does anybody know if you stop listening then it stops working or after so long is it engrained into your mindset?

TooBigNow · 30/05/2014 22:39

Dosey I haven't been doing it long enough to find out, but got the impression from others a few pages back that it does wear off if you stop listening.

kazzawazzawoo · 30/05/2014 22:42

Thanks for the info. I don't know if it's available on kindle, I just presumed it is

How often are you supposed to listen to the cd? I only get time to myself twice a week. Also how easy is it to copy the cd on to my phone?

Thanks Smile

Bindibach · 31/05/2014 00:23

Dosey I think you do need to do maintenance. At least once a week. But more often if you can. I find it so relaxing that listening to it daily is well worth it and I think that although time can be hard to find, spending half an hour on me is important if I am to continue with this woe. Its a priority.

kazzawazzawoo · 31/05/2014 12:32

I've reserved the Paul McKenna book about Emotional Eating from the library to try it first. I'm not very good at making time for things for myself like listening to relaxation cds, but will try my best.

Dosey · 31/05/2014 22:35

Bindi I feel like that too. I am listening everyday because I enjoy that time. I do it before I wake get up so I can start my day on a positive note.

DDs are staying at GP's tonight. Normally I would have had a right load of treats for the occasion. Tonight I had a handful of cherries, a packet of crisps and a two finger kitkat. I enjoyed every last bit of it all but I finished after that and never once thought about food. This is so good for me. Normally I would have used the whole time as an excuse to stuff my face until I felt sick. I have just realised that all night there has been a pile dds of uneaten Easter eggs next to the sofa where I have been. I knew the chocolate was there but it just never entered my mind it eat it or think about it.

Kazza I really hope you get the book and see the results I am seeing. I am on day 20 of listening the cd and feel really good.

Solo · 01/06/2014 13:32

Sounds like some good things going on here Dosey :)
Kazza that's a good idea, though you can pick these books up very cheaply too LOOK

I'm doing ok considering really. I go for a liver scan next week.

Bindibach · 01/06/2014 13:49

That's good Dosey. Its funny how when you give yourself permission to eat anything ( as in any type of food) you like then you find you just don't want it as much. Same with everything in life I suppose. You always want what you cant have and when you are allowed to have it, you might go overboard in the beginning but then it just becomes "blah". Well, that's how it works for me anyway.Smile. If I even think of dieting I will have tendancies to overeat once I have given myself a good talking too. That's why I have all the food I love in my house. Its there but I don't bother with it most the time.

Bindibach · 01/06/2014 13:50

Dosey I have started listening to the Emotional Eating CD every morning and have started doing some of the other exercises on the CD too. I listen to the GB one every couple of nights before sleeping. Tend to have a good nights sleep after.

MrsLundyBancroft · 01/06/2014 18:38

Evening all. It's been a really crappy time of it recently but bindi is dead right. Life will always get in the way. So... tonight I will listen to the installation track again and when I get home tomorrow I will do the havening technique again.

Life is shit to me at times but it's time to stop using that as a reason to treat myself the same way. Onwards and upwards.
