Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Thanks Bindi. I know that this is going to take some work. I have realised that I don't want to change my diet in terms of cutting out food groups etc, I want to change my behaviour and that's not going to happen over night.

I'm looking forward to my new book andCD arriving but in the mean time I'm practising the ICMYT rules.

BindiBach · 12/05/2014 15:10

Amazon has a lot of good reviews that help to inspire regarding PM ways of eating. It really is something that you have to consciously think about everytime you think you are hungry. From what I have witnessed slim people only eat when they really need food not for the many other reasons that most of us ex dieters do.

MrsLundyBancroft · 12/05/2014 15:51

I certainly intend to bindi. As I said earlier I've transferred it to my phone so it makes it much less of a kerfuffle to do. I managed both the pre-op and the installation tracks last night without falling asleep which was miraculous (I don't really want to fall asleep with headphones in).

I'm still not hungry. If I had eaten that 'little' for lunch previously I'd have felt deprived by now. Long before now if I'm truthful. Yet I don't Confused

I think tonight might be a test. I'm taking dd2 out for our date night and she specified some time ago we were heading to our local pub. I'm happy with choosing what I want, it's the eating mindfully that could present the challenge. We'll see I suppose - he's not failed me so far today. And my track record for 'diets' currently is

BindiBach · 12/05/2014 16:18

When I go out I really think about the flavours and then decide what I want. I tend to not eat much of it at all. I don't have a starter anymore cause it takes a big edge off my appetite and I then don't want a main meal. So I tend to order something like (for a pub meal)

Chicken with garlic and herb butter
Salad
Side order of chips

I tend to only have a couple of the chips and my DH has some too but we leave most of them if we are not that hungry.

I only bother with a sweet if there is something that I really love otherwise it just doesn't seem worth it. I tend to have crème brulee though if they have it.

Just order whatever you fancy, anything but eat it mindfully checking in to see if your still hungry or not and Enjoy!!

BigBoobiedBertha · 12/05/2014 21:37

Hello! Still here. Still trying to read the EE book. Hopefully this week will be a little bit less silly and I can finish it.

Nice to see some positive vibes here.

MrsLundyBancroft · 12/05/2014 21:43

I had a chicken tikka salad and small portion of chips on the side. I didn't polish off dd's dinner like in old times nor did I really want to. I did push it a bit though - I'm not stuffed but I am def full. But I figure that Rome wasn't built in a day so overall I'm viewing today as a success. And if today is the pattern for the rest of my life, this new way of eating like a slim person, then that's A Good Thing.

Off to listen to the installation track again now.

BindiBach · 12/05/2014 21:58

Hi BBB Sorry life is frantic for you at the moment. I shall shut up and stop nagging you to do the CD as I appreciate its not something you are able to do at the present time. I really hope you get some time to yourself soon.

JDD · 13/05/2014 09:34

Morning all.

I'm going to class day 1 yesterday as a success. I definitely are my dinner much more slowly and ended up feeling full before I'd finished it. Then I didn't feel tempted to snack for the rest of the evening. I also went to my circuit training class last night and I'm feeling motivated.

I started the Paul mckenna 7 day to success app this morning. I'm going to use that with the FFEE book and CD when it arrives.

This is going to take a conscious effort but its what I need to do to feel good about myself and in control of my eating habits.

MrsLundyBancroft · 13/05/2014 09:53

JDD I'm so pleased I've got a buddy who started yesterday too. I'm def counting yesterday as a success. And today is moving in the right direction too. I'm feeling really positive about not just my future body but also about life in general. I'm hoping that feeling stays too Smile

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 10:14

Morning

JDD sounds good. I listen to the Gastric Band and the Emotional Eating CDS.

MrsLundy Yay!!! I really do feel better when Im on Pauls Cds. When I stop using for a while I definitely feel that I get a bit mah about stuff. Then when I listen again I remember why its important for me to listen.....if you know what I mean.

JDD · 13/05/2014 10:46

It's early days but lets keep each other motivated. x

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 13/05/2014 11:25

Redownloaded the app, think I will have to pay again but never mind. It starts tomorrow!

Didn't eat much breakfast today as wasn't hungry and ambos properly hungry for lunch. Good start!

JDD · 13/05/2014 12:36

Well I usually eat my lunch dead on 12 but its 12.35 and I'm still not hungry or not hungry enough to eat my lunch. This is weird.

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 12:52

Sounds like your subconscious has absorbed the information well JDD.* What CD are you using, sorry I forget?

Doctrine does it still give you the stereo effect on the phone app?

JDD · 13/05/2014 13:32

At the moment I only have the 7 day app as my FFEE book hasn't arrived yet. However, I have done ICMYT a couple of times in the past so I understand it and believe in it. I have just always let myself down by giving in to emotional eating. So far I'm just consciously making an effort to stick to the 4 golden rules.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 13/05/2014 18:33

Yes it does in each earphone!

MrsLundyBancroft · 13/05/2014 19:00

Still doing well. I did feel a bit of an emotional urge to eat this afternoon as ds2 was in nursery and being home alone is so rare it's my usual trigger to have a cup of tea and a 'treat'. Hopefully in time that will become less of an urge and less of a trigger.

I'm really enjoying my food though, noticing flavours and textures like I haven't before. Tuesday is a teaching night and so it's easy food night. I just ate a ready done mushroom stroganoff and had to leave most of it because it wasn't nice at all. Previously I'd have shovelled it in and never noticed but this time I had chance to taste how unpleasant it was Hmm

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 19:18

O I couldn't eat a ready meal now MrsLundy. They taste horrible to me. I cook from scratch. Its time consuming though isn't it but the taste and flavours are worth it. I use lots of fresh herbs and loads of different types of veg just for the flavours alone. Im such a foodie though. Smile

MrsLundyBancroft · 13/05/2014 20:03

I know what you mean! I don't normally do them often but with working tues and weds and with the girls piano lessons sometimes it's just tok much to cook as well.

I'll have to start getting more creative though - if I'm going to follow the eat slowly and savour each mouthful rule then I certainly need to ensure every mouthful is worth enjoying!

I'm really positive still. I had a really productive day round the house, doing lots of jobs I've been putting off. Even with monster ds2 in tow Grin

ALittleFaith · 13/05/2014 20:11

Good evening all! Fresh meat Grin Welcome newbies.

JDD I've been doing ICMYT for about 2 1/2 years but I got FFEE last week. It's fantastic! I've been listening to the CD for 4 days and it's already impacted. I'm not using sugar to make myself feel better and I feel happier in myself too. The CD you listen to as you eat really slows you down.

MrsLundy it really makes you aware of taste, doesn't it? I remember how delicious fresh food tasted when I tasted it for the 'first time'.

My tea tonight was soooo yummy. I made butternut squash and sweet potato soup (from scratch). I was eating consciously and left some but it was lovely. I think I'll make more soups.

Shall we introduce ourselves? I'm Faith, I'm 32. Been married 5 years, We have a DD (aka Faithlet) who just turned one. I've been overweight since I was a kid. My Mum put me on a diet at about 9 and I guess it affected my metabolism and my attitude towards food. I'm hoping FFEE will break my comfort eating.

ALittleFaith · 13/05/2014 20:14

Oh I thought this article was interesting. All about WW. Definitely identify with it.

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 20:43

Hi Faith. How are you feeling now your back home?

What a good idea, I haven't actually introduced myself to the newbies properly so
Bindi/Milly (sometimes)

Been with DH for 30 years
Have 2 children aged 22 and 23.
Weight has always been okish but have felt fat all my life really. Life Faith my mother decided from a very early age that I did not look skinny enough for her so she restricted my food and made me believe all food was bad and that if I starved myself that I was good and she was proud of me. Stupid woman really.[frown]

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 20:44

Sad nor [frown]

BindiBach · 13/05/2014 20:45

Brilliant article Faith. Enjoyed reading it as it is so true. Felt happy for the woman at the end when she realised the truth. Food should be enjoyed. It is one of lifes pleasures.

ALittleFaith · 13/05/2014 20:59

I'm still up and down. I'm all dizzy again tonight and I think I have an infection in my toe! Off to the doctors tomorrow I think.
