Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Ooooo lots of people have said they got that "sensation" Leaping. I didn't myself but its very interesting.

Bindibach · 16/05/2014 11:30

Morning...lovely sunshiny day here in North Wales and the sea looks amazing. I really should get on my Bike and go for a ride but I might just stay home and have some Cake instead. Ha ha....I couldn't resist using those smileys as I haven't seen them before. Im probably the last one to notice them aren't I?
Im doing ok on the PM front. Eating mindfully and not weighing myself. Have a bit of a sickness bug at the moment though and was actually upchucking the other day but seems to have settled down with just nausea now and headachy now.

Solo thinking of you. Hope things are sorted today.

Hows everyone else?

JDD · 16/05/2014 13:11

Afternoon.

Bindi to answer your questions, I didn't try havening at that time as I was at my desk and it was easier to subtly listen to the craving buster on my phone. If that didn't work I was planning on going to the loo to try havening. I thought people might think I was crazy if I did it at my desk!

I am trying to make a bit of a career change so I have an interview for a project management job. I have some experience but it's a case study based interview so it's really going to test my knowledge. Wish me luck.

I'm doing well in terms of the 4 rules though. Sometimes I probably eat a little quicker than Paul says to but I'm still only eating if I'm hungry and I haven't overeaten at all. I'm on day 4 now. The weekends are always my downfall though as I cook meals that the kids love (sausages, fajitas etc) and bake cakes so there will be a lot of temptation. I just have to keep on remembering those 4 rules.

Bindibach · 16/05/2014 13:29

GOOD LUCK JDD...

Those things you make for the kids....do you love them too? If you do then it isn't a problem, just apply the rules and enjoy every single mouthful until something inside says, "I don't need anymore now and I could stop if I want to". (hope that makes sense). If the stuff you make and bake for the kids is not the stuff that does it for you then you need to alter your shopping list and make sure you buy all the foods you love and adore so that you are making meals that you love too. Its very important that you have the foods you love, really love.

ALittleFaith · 16/05/2014 20:08

Wise words Bindi! I hadn't noticed those characters before, I think they're pretty new.

JDD sounds like so far, so good. I agree though, if you're hungry when you fancy those treats, go for it! I had a GF brownie at Costa today because I was hungry when I was there. It was yummy (I only had about 2/3 of it, some was stolen by a cunning 13 month old!).

I think it's clicked again. I bought some breadsticks last Saturday, normally they'd be gone in a day but there's still 1/3 of the pack left! :)

solo I'm sorry you're still feeling ill. That's awful. I hope they get to the bottom of it soon Thanks

Bindibach · 16/05/2014 20:19

I think its clicked with me to Faith. Im doing it good!!

JDD · 16/05/2014 20:33

Yes I do enjoy the comfort food I cook for the family over the weekends. We had sausages and mash tonight and I ate it slowly and didn't finish it all. Just got to keep it up over the rest of the weekend.

Do you guys drink much alcohol? I like a few glasses of wine at the weekend. What are the PM rules for alcohol?

Bindibach · 16/05/2014 20:41

I don't drink nowdays. I think he says in the beginning to try to not have alcohol with food cause it can mix up your hunger signals.

MrsLundyBancroft · 17/05/2014 10:57

That's right re the alcohol. I have wine maybe four nights out of seven but instead of with dinner I've been having it once the little ones are in bed.

I feel like I'm doing really well. I had a pretty horrific ptsd/ex related incident this week and didn't turn to food. I've just dropped the younger three at a contact centre to see their dad and have taken myself out for breakfast. I've left half of it on the plate. We had a takeaway last night and I ate til I'd had enough not so much I couldn't move comfortably afterwards.

I'm really enjoying this. I'm feeling happy about food for the first time in ages.

MrsLundyBancroft · 17/05/2014 10:58

Scratch that. For the first time ever.

Bindibach · 17/05/2014 11:08

You sound in a good place Mrs. Feeling back in control of your eating and eating "normally" can have a huge impact on your self esteem. People get manically excited about a new diet believing its going to be this one that works, but in theory all your doing is giving away your personal power over your appetite and body to someone or something else. This is body led calorie control and it works. Im doing well too.

TooBigNow · 19/05/2014 09:27

Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend and didn't binge on anything.

I am doing a weekly weigh to make sure that I am going in the right direction. This week I lost another pound to make it one stone, one pound since starting the PMcK Emotional Eating.

MrsLundyBancroft · 19/05/2014 09:32

I'm ok this morning too. Bit of a wobble on Saturday night as I was out and when I'm socialising I think it will be harder to listen to my body. I'm glad I did the weigh in mid week though as I started my period today and when I weighed myself I'd only lost 1lb this morning. Knowing that I'd lost more than that last week makes me feel better. I'm still enjoying food though - about to have a poached egg (laid by my friend's hen) on good bread. I would have felt that 'too much' for breakfast before but I really fancy it so I'm having it. Don't know why it would have been too much - it's no more calories than a bowl of puffed air and skimmed milk really Hmm

JDD · 19/05/2014 15:38

Hi everyone.

I did well over the weekend. No binging so I'm really pleased. Today has been tough as I had my interview and I did eat some minstrels earlier through stress and nerves rather than hunger but it was only a minor slip. I've just got to concentrate on sticking to the rules again now.

I've found that I'm struggling to finish meals and getting full up quicker which is good.

JDD · 19/05/2014 15:50

Actually, I have been feeling the urge to eat chocolate this afternoon because of my stressful day but I just did the havening technique in the loos at work and now it has gone away. That's amazing right?

Solo · 20/05/2014 00:24

JDD, that's brilliant!! well done you :)

Hi all. Hope everyone is still keeping up with the WOE. :)

I'm still unwell. Waiting for a scan of my liver. More blood tests.

I'm certainly trying to be mindful with my eating, but feeling ill just does nothing for any of the food related things...
I will try to keep posting, but I'm not promising that my mind is going to be on the job in hand.

BigBoobiedBertha · 20/05/2014 15:01

Oh no Solo. That sounds grim. I hope it is something and nothing and you are sorted out soon. Definitely eat what you fancy now, more than ever if your appetite has taken a hit. You need to keep your strength up.

Apologies to everybody. I have been a bit absent in the last week. I have been trying to read the EE book and it is slow progress. I have started listening to the CD although I am not sure about its impact just yet. This is only day 3. I have also looked at the Havening CD once. I will finish the book but so far I am not clear what it is all about yet. Psychology is my subject so I did Google it to see if I could find some scientific papers to help me understand how it works better. That was a mistake. Sad I think I will end up back at ICMYT as I am not sure EE is for me now.

Sorry, I sound a bit negative but I thought this might be the one that does it for me and I feel a bit disappointed. the CD is better than the ICMYT one so I might just stick to the basics and the new CD.

Solo · 20/05/2014 23:08

BBB my appetite is just fine! I've not stopped eating unfortunately.

OP posts:
Solo · 22/05/2014 12:32

Just dropping in. Having an ok day today with regards my eating. How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
JDD · 22/05/2014 13:04

I've found this week tough. I've had job interviews this week and a minor car accident so its been stressful and I know now that eating chocolate to calm my nerves is a habit of mine. I haven't binged so it hasn't been that bad but I have forgotten to eat slowly and mindfully at times and I've snacked when I wasn't genuinely hungry. I still think I eaten a bit less overall than I usually would.

I'm still listening to the trance and I think I need to practice havening a few more times. I want to read the EE book again because there was a lot in there to think about.

Solo are you finding it hard to stick to the rules with the stress you are under?

Solo · 22/05/2014 13:18

JDD I'm a bit all over the place really, but there are lots of reasons for this.

I know that I can do this, but I just feel that everything else is in my way IYSWIM?
Have you tried the slow chocolate eating thing? where you just close your eyes and chew. Chew, chew, chew. And think about what's in your mouth; concentrate on it. The chocolate in your mouth becomes disgusting and it's quite offputting. It's a good way to stop the chocolate habit!
Hope you are Ok.

Hello all.

solo and JDD sorry to hear things are tough. Well done for carrying on trying to Paul under the circumstances.

I have something funny to tell you, I tried a 'diet'. The first day you eat an egg for breakfast, one for lunch and one did tea. I had one egg for breakfast and then realised at 11.30 how ridiculous it was! I had a proper lunch with the CD and feel better now. Ironically having started the FFEE just under 2 weeks ago I weighed myself and I lost 2 1/2 lbs! So I will carry on with that. I was looking for a quick fix for Faithlet's christening on 1st June. I will go with Pauling and spanx!

I agree BBB I find the CD much more effective - I go properly 'under' and wake up when he says and I feel it impacting! :)

Bindibach · 22/05/2014 15:36

Seriously Solo that happens to you when you eat chocolate slowly? You find it disgusting...never in all my life have I found chocolate horrible. I thought you were going to say that you put the chocolate in your mouth and savour it. Let it melt st body temperature and really enjoy the velvet sweetness. When I eat chocolate in this mindful way I tend to eat less . But dislike it....never and wouldn't want to. Grin

MrsLundyBancroft · 22/05/2014 18:10

I am really struggling the last couple of days. Horrible teenage dd shit going on and it is really pushing my resolve. I'm really going to have to pull my socks up Sad
