Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

I have some really pretty skirts and some smart work trousers which I would love to fit into. I will make those my goal I think, the thought of getting on the scales and not losing or only losing a small amount would, I think, destroy the positivity I have for doing this.

I also have to keep reminding myself this is a way of eating which some people do all the time, naturally anyway. Hope one day that can be me.

MillyDots · 07/08/2014 22:36

Nice to see you posting so much more Solo. You have lots of interesting things to say Smile

I never drink diet drinks or have sweetners in anything as I believe them to be very bad for my health. I have real coke or sugar or maple or honey.

MillyDots · 07/08/2014 22:37

O and I don't drink alcohol as I am allergic to it unfortunately.

mrsmilesmatheson · 08/08/2014 20:33

Caught dh looking at me funny earlier, asked him what's up and he said I looked like is lost weight. He is not one for flattering comments so must be less bloated Grin

Pizza tonight and only ate half what I normally would, which means I get to have pizza tomorrow too Grin

Solo · 09/08/2014 03:07

Is anyone using the haven ing technique?

I've done it the last 2 days and the first time I felt pretty stupid lol. Today I found myself picturing the beach, grass etc easier.

Tomorrow I will listen to the while you eat track - no way am I doing that in front of dh!

Went out for harvester last night and had yummy ribs and ice cream with toffee sauce. Didn't finish either but really enjoyed them both.

MillyDots · 10/08/2014 23:18

I haven't done it mrs but am going to soon. Just read an article on it.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/paul-mckenna-can-make-you-1883169#.U-fv4410zDc

I have been listening to the gastric band cd every day and his stress cd too and it is pretty amazing.

MillyDots · 10/08/2014 23:26

Its based on the Chinese meridian system like acupuncture and acupressure .

Solo · 11/08/2014 01:56

No, me neither but want to at some point.

I had a little overindulgence yesterday (Sunday), but that's fine. I'm back on it today :)

Good afternoon.
I wonder if I might rejoin you all?
I was here a few threads back but it all went wrong!
I am 46, 5 foot 2 and about 17 stone. I hate myself.
This weekend I wax at wedding and the hotel I was in had a full length mirror. We have one mirror in our house, it's in the spare room and it is definitely NOT full length!
I had chosen my outfit with great care and was shocked to see a small humanoid sofa looking back at me from the mirror.
Enough is enough.
So, I'm digging out my old ICMYT book and listening to the track every night.
It is time to stop being a humanoid sofa.

hamptoncourt · 11/08/2014 16:45

Hello sock Please do not hate yourself.

To be honest self loathing has got me into all kinds of pickles in the past, and I believe emotional overeating is a direct response to that. It becomes a vicious circle doesn't it?

I think the ICMYT book does touch upon these issues but maybe doesn't fully explore them in depth. I found it useful though.

My thing is seeing myself in photos. I seriously cannot believe that the dumpy matronly woman in the photos is me!!

I had a really bad day Saturday, went to a party, drank waaay too much and then ate far too much utter crap. I will not let it put me off though. I know this plan will work for me when other regimes/diets have failed.

Read the book again. Listen to the CD every day and be kind to yourself sock. Just tell yourself you have been waiting for this moment to make the changes and now the time has come.

Good luck!

MissBattleaxe · 11/08/2014 16:50

Hello. I'm new. Can I join in? This is the only weight loss I have ever stuck to for more than 3 weeks.

hamptoncourt · 11/08/2014 17:05

Hello battleaxe and welcome.

I should stress that I am very new to all this but as I am logged on I am happy to be the one to welcome you and hopefully the more experienced posters will be along later.

So have you done the programme before? Or do you mean you have been doing it now and are just past the three week point? If so you are at the same point as me I think - I have to weigh myself for the second time later this week. Supposed to be Thurs but I will be away so I will do it on Friday. Hows it going?

MissBattleaxe · 11/08/2014 17:34

Thank hamptoncourt.

I have been doing it since the end of March but not fastidiously. However, I have kept 15lbs off and I am very excited as I almost always fall off the wagon at the three week mark with other schemes such as Slimming World.

So it's slow, but I'm still doing it and I've kept it off. Every now and then when I plateau I read the book again and it gets me back on the straight and narrow. It's so easy to eat with the family and eat out etc too.

Solo · 11/08/2014 19:14

Welcome back sock and welcome to you too MissB :)

Yes, this really is the way to eat properly and lose weight and WELL DONE on the 15lb loss MissB you should be very proud of yourself!! and I hope you are!

OK! I am making a new rule for this thread and all the Paulettes that are on it: No Self Loathing Allowed. It has a totally negative effect and will not help any of us.

Please do get a full length mirror even if you don't have it out all the time. The mirror exercise is an important one and one that ought to be done often. If you can't look at yourself and love yourself, how will you see the wonderful results as the weight comes off? I found it really did start to drop off me when I actually started to admire my 'good bits' and it really was and is amazing. Please try. It gets easier to do.

Well. I've not lost any more weight since last week, but I've not gained either which is great :)

Upwards and onwards everyone!

I keep looking at those mirror rolls to stick on the back of a door.....

Solo · 12/08/2014 01:17

Check out the 'view' of them before you get one though.

MissBattleaxe · 12/08/2014 08:13

Thank you Solo. It's great to talk to other people about it and it's really encouraging to read that I'm on the right track. Also I find I'm not as hungry as I used to be and can't face a groaning big plate of food at all anymore.

neverputasockinatoaster · 12/08/2014 08:33

Morning...
A quick question....
How do you all tackle eating what you 'want' when food has to be planned in advance?
We are on a budget and I have to meal plan. I meal plan nice things but often I will be eating a planned meal and I don't tend to think about what I want for an evening meal, I know what we are having!
What got me thinking was that we are having a picnic today - we're on a day out and my kids are ridiculously fussy so a picnic means we keep the cost down and they actually eat something!
I have made myself a nice sarnie (salt beef and mustard mayo) and it will be delicious but I've planned it in advance.
Does that go against the rules or is the 'want' more in reference to choosing tasty, enjoyable food because you like it rather than diet food because you 'ought' to?

Solo · 12/08/2014 11:53

Very good indeed MissB keep it up! :)

Sock ask yourself which food you absolutely hate?
Now ask yourself if you would serve yourself that food that you hate and eat it. I would expect you to answer "no" because you don't like it. And I would expect that even on a budget (me too) that you would cook and serve foods that you enjoy... So I think that as long as you enjoy what you serve yourself, then it's absolutely fine to not have what you "want" at that meal. However! I sometimes have little things in the fridge that I really like so that if I didn't really really want spag bol/sausages/whatever for tea, I can go to the fridge and eat the alternative (cheapy stuffed chilli peppers from Aldi. Couscous. Coleslaw. Yoghurt). It works for me and I'm pretty sure we can all adapt it to our individual situation. See what you can do with it :)

I hope that is helpful.

MillyDots · 12/08/2014 23:33

I tend to make sure I buy foods that we all like, however if I make a meal and I don't feel like eating it then I will sit and have a cup of tea with them or I will have something I do fancy. Sometimes I just have a small salad or cheese and biscuits.

I have been listening to the Gastric Band as I mentioned yesterday and so far my appetite has decreased dramatically. He mentions things on the cd about the fullness hormones and how he is telling your subconscious to change the amount your body producers. I also watched a program with Michael Mosley at the weekend on exercise and they also talk about the fullness hormone being essential in determining whether someone feels full after eating or not.

MillyDots · 12/08/2014 23:35

I have been listening to the cd for about four or five days now in a row.
