tigger That's the reason I'm doing LL and not the others; you get counselling sessions in a group every week and they are amazing. My group are lovely and my counsellor is brilliant. Without them I wouldn't have shifted two stone...I'd have given up ages ago. We do cognitive behavioural therapy to understand why we had issues with food in the first place and work through different 'modules' to address different issues.

LL has a very structured reintroduction to food and also a phased maintenance programme. Once you've started maintenance, you still go to the group sessions. All the ladies I'm with in my group have lost their weight and are maintaining. It's a real inspiration.

Basically I know that in going to be going to LighterLife for many years in order to keep the weight off. I know why I got fat, and I know how to stop it happening again.

As far as I know, you don't get this with any of the other programmes and 'coordinators' are just people who sell packs. They don't offer any kind of counselling or address any of the issues faced by the people who come to them. Hence some people can rapidly regain weight when the programme is finished.

I'm starting one next week.
I can't decide between kee, exante and slim and save. What's the pros and cons of each?

BadgerGirl56 · 10/02/2014 21:17

Hiya

Well this is my first post here, ever.

I've just signed up for New You VLCD, hoping it should be here in a few days... I have never done anything like this before but having tried loads of other diets I don't know what else to do. Has anyone done New You? Are they all pretty much the same?
Thanks

OH cooks his own food and D's is only 7mo so still having jars so the only tasting I have to do is temperature testing! sometimes his food does taste yummy though when I've accidentally tasted properly! (I'm sure I wouldn't have felt that way before lol!) I'm doing SS+ by the way as couldn't manage without at least a little food in my life!

Hi Badger and Itsbetter - I can't help re those diets - I know with Cambridge and Lighter Life who have a consultant and weigh-in which must help.
I'm doing Shake That Weight, it's cheaper than the other two, but tough without support from consultant.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 11/02/2014 15:04

Hope you feel better soon Cheesy.

I'm on Day 3 now and really feel that I'm on a roll; so happy to feel in control.

tiggermummy70 · 11/02/2014 17:58

I have the manual for weight concerns shape up management program. If anyone doesn't has access to a councillor and would like some hints as to recommendations for how to avoid problems when you plan on coming off a vlcd please ask.
the book is a guide to psychological mind set for weight loss/maintenance. obviously can't reprint whole thing but suggestions might help.
e.g what is a craving/what is a hungry signal. Can you tell difference and plan what you will do if you recognise you have a craving before it happens. let me know if you think it will help.

I now have 3.5lbs to achieve my lowest weight in 15 years...Confused

Hope everyone has a good day Thanks

Katsand · 12/02/2014 09:53

Tigger. I'm curious. How come you are in trial for work????
So I'm on day three today I'm so tired. My daughter woke up at 4am refusing to sleep. Took her downstairs so she wouldn't wake her brother. He's now up while she's back sleeping but no sleep for me. Had two boiled egg whites this morning as I didn't want to take my first shake before 9am. Hope that's ok. Feel metal taste in mouth so think I'm in ketosis but need to sleep. Hopefully feel better tomorrow :-)

tiggermummy70 · 12/02/2014 13:54

katsand: I work for UCL and spotted a poster asking for people who need to loose weight to assist in a research project to help people with or at high risk of bowel cancer. My mum died from it 2.5 years ago so I thought it would be a good idea if I was a suitable candidate to help out. So I applied. I had to have a scan of my bowel (not pleasant but relatively quick, and I got all clear so peace of mind on my risks) and then I am on meal replacements (4/per day +750mls of skim milk +4 pints water =800cals for 8 weeks. With 1:1 council on physiology behind weight management. After 8 weeks its further 4 weeks where I will drop a sachet and add a meal. I can have another meeting a few months after that if needed.
Between my mum & grandparents it reads like an encyclopaedia of cancer. cervical, breast, bowelx2, pancreatic x2 and bladder cancers. (Mum had three dif primary's in her lifetime!)
So I am always on lookout for ways to improve outcome for those with it.

Katsand · 12/02/2014 14:58

Well done tigger. It's a big thing to commit to. Interesting that they are using a diet like this. Good luck :-)

tiggermummy70 · 12/02/2014 15:59

tiggermummy70 · 12/02/2014 16:57

Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome .
Makes a mess of hormones led to it taking 10.5 years to concieve first child!

tiggermummy70 · 13/02/2014 09:08

Think I am going to claim a NSV ( non scale victory)

I wear scrubs at work, I used to have to wear XXL or XL top &bottom. At my lowest weight last year I wore L top & Bottom.
Today I am wearing Medium bottoms! They are little snug around waist but not uncomfortable or tight around thighs and most importantly no camel toe!!!!

Katsand · 13/02/2014 11:39

Result!!!

Cheesyslice · 13/02/2014 18:06

Sorry been away for a while - been spending time with my grandma who passed away on Monday night Sad
Kept wanting snacks - had to keep secretly binning Cake the carers brought me - chicken slices and egg mayonnaise instead. Really made me realise how much emotional eating I do. Determined not to go off the rails.

Anyway weighed today and have lost 14.5kg (just short of 32lb) in 6 weeks! Can't quite believe it Shock
NSV - bought a size 14 dress that just about fits Smile
