Wow 17lb Grin congrats that's great that's total I take it?

What kind of packs are you liking the most?

lizardqueenie · 23/03/2014 14:53

Quiet on here...

Right a few days in & I've slipped up & literally inhaled food. Please someone come and give me a good slap some tough talking.

giggly · 23/03/2014 16:04

Only .5 kg off in second week, might have something to do with some chips that fell into my mouth at the weekend. Also had some wine on a night out along with some other crap. I am really annoyed as I am able to do this......

tiggermummy70 · 23/03/2014 16:19

giggly & lizard. We all have lapses no matter how hard we try we are human. we show courage and commitment in what we do next.
pick self up slap round chops and get back to it or sod it and give in.
I spent most of yesterday in bed thanks to bug DD1 gave me. Glad I have a husband that can step up when needed.
Took kids to church this morning to try and give him a lay in. mooched round shops (I was looking for something honest) and I am about to wrap myself around a blueberry muffin. But I needed something to settle my stomach. Wink
Does anyone want me to copy out some of the stuff I get from my councillor? Don't mind if you think it could help. guidelines like what to look for when buying certain foods for sugar, salt levels etc.

tarajupp · 23/03/2014 16:43

Well my week away has been good for me - another 2kg off and am now officially "overweight" - so relieved and can really feel the difference. My ankles have stopped hurting and more clothes fit.

I still have lapses but not with chips/muffins etc. If I'm really hungry will have some ham/cheese/chicken but in my mind I can't have carbs so won't even pick them up. Am thinking of switching to low carb in May as makes much more sense to me than constant calorie counting to maintain.

Slap your own wrists - pin a note on the fridge/breadbin and get back to it girls!

tiggermummy70 · 23/03/2014 17:34

I'm working towards 5:2 diet after this mainly as it seems to show some good health benefits esp for dh as he is borderline diabetic (runs in family).
I definitely do not have an appiete as big as it was.

lizardqueenie · 23/03/2014 19:07

Well done Tara!!

Thanks for the slaps Grin Consider myself dusted off. You are right tigger- I can draw a line or turn it into a wallow & why would I want to do that?!

Yes I'd find that really helpful - the guidelines from your consultant. If you have time to type it all up that is, I know what it can be like. Thank you Thanks

tiggermummy70 · 24/03/2014 17:06

weigh in day for me. considering the sickness fri-sat. did ok. lost 4.5lbs this week most of it before Friday. total = -35lb in 10 weeks.

pinkapples · 24/03/2014 20:11

Well done tigger weigh in for me tomorrow so well see any ideas on how to drink more water? I'm
Going nearly all day with merely a litre! And I need to be on 3

tiggermummy70 · 25/03/2014 08:13

pink - hope the weigh in s good today. [fingers crossed]

For those looking for some more info

guidelines for the most common nutrients:
A lot / A little
Sugars 10g / 2g
Total fat 20g / 3g
Saturated fat 5g / 1g
Fibre 3g / 0.5g
Salt 1.5g / 0.3g
Sodium 0.6g / 0.1g

Start reading the nutritional info first, always compare different brands of the same things by comparing the values per 100g not portion sizes.
A lot of "diet" products are no better they are just based on smaller portion sizes.
Don't get fooled by packaging either - we bought a basics brand of cereal loops the other week, it was identical in nut valves to the "kiddiefied" version but about 6p/100g cheaper.
Remember if they have taken something out to make it "low" they would have added something else in instead.
Rule of thumb.
If you are looking at a savory option then look towards low fat as because it is savory they won't add as much sugar.
If you are looking at sweet options then look towards low sugar.
DO compare the differences between the "diet" and "normal"
you may often be better off just eating a smaller portion of "normal"
than the added stuff of "diet"

Your daily dose of info for this soggy tuesday morning.

giggly · 25/03/2014 14:01

Back on track since Monday so hopefully the damage on weigh in day on Thursday will not be as bad.

pinkapples · 25/03/2014 21:23

4lb gone this week Smile could have done better as I haven't been drinking to much water in fact nearly none so woohoo me will try harder with water next week

tiggermummy70 · 26/03/2014 08:16

well done pink. 4lbs down is still 4lbs down!

I won't be posting info until this afternoon/evening as its easier from pc.

if anyone has specific issue let me know and I can look it up in the book I have or give you my 2 pence worth of info.

I'm up on yesterday but I know its knock on as my water levels are still not back to normal. My throat was dry when I woke... did need a wee first thing, but didn't the day before never a good sign.
Don't worry if you feel you are constantly going to the bathroom if you can keep levels up it does even out after 4-5 days

DomesticDisgrace · 26/03/2014 09:00

Why is it so hard to get back on after a break Sad

tiggermummy70 · 26/03/2014 09:20

I think it just is our bodies adapting to what we are giving them compared to what they want.
just keep drinking water, water, water.
When I got desperate I went for diet coke but the sainsbury own label as that doesn't have any citric acid in it. But wouldn't recommend more than 1.
At least if you keep going to bathroom you won't have time to think about food.
Also remember if you are feeling hunger pangs they are just there, they don't increase, if you drink they will go away.

hugs and hang on

giggly · 27/03/2014 16:29

Back on track with 4.5lbs off this week, delighted given my weekend of drinking and falling face first into some crisps. Trying the CD yogurt drink for the first time. I had the yogurt bar last week but was yuck.
I love losing weight.

tiggermummy70 · 28/03/2014 11:50

Good Morning everyone its Friday! Grin Grin Grin

Your pointers for today

S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym for the 5 steps of specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based goals. Itâ??s a simple tool used by folks to go beyond the realm of fuzzy goal-setting into an actionable plan for results.

Specific: Great goals are well-defined and focused. - I will meet my calorie goal today instead of I will try and eat healthy.
Measurable: A goal without a measurable outcome is like a sports competition without a scoreboard or scorekeeper. I know if I have achieved my goal as my weight will go down or I can try on x pair trs or that dress.
Attainable: Far too often, people can set goals beyond reach. No one gained excess weight overnight so you are not going to loose it all in a week, if it was that easy we wouldn't be here.
Relevant: Achievable goals are based on what intrests.& motivates you. Can't set fitness goal if you are not doing anything to improve your fitness.
Time-Based: Goals and objectives just donâ??t get done when there's no time frame tied to the goal-setting process so a goal of I am going to loose all this extra weight this year unlikely to be successful, smaller target of loosing xlbs within x months by eating x calories and x fitness is much more likely to work.

here endth the lesson.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/03/2014 14:13

Hello everyone. Well done all weight losses.

I've lost another 1.5kg over the last two weeks so I've passed my first goal which was 10kg lost - 10.4kg lost in total. Next goal is 13kg lost (c 2 stone). BMI is now 32.2 so moving out of obese is looking good for the next 4-6 weeks.

DomesticDisgrace · 29/03/2014 08:50

Thanks tiger, I still haven't managed it but I've decided Monday is the big day, no excuses. I have dinner out tomorrow so that was mentally getting in the way if you know what I mean.

I love being on plan once I get on it and once I have zero tolerance for cheating!

tiggermummy70 · 29/03/2014 18:22

Good plan doris. if you can I would limit your carbs as much as poss and drink lots of water, this should help make it easier on Monday.

pinkapples · 29/03/2014 21:57

I want food today!!

tiggermummy70 · 30/03/2014 21:31

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and happy mothers day to those that it applies and hugs to those that can't be with their mums today.
Looking forward to a better week...

ImASecretTwigletNibbler · 31/03/2014 14:39

Hi everyone, I'm going to start Slim & Save soon - not sure when, depends when the package arrives :) I was just wondering about something though... I can't afford to stay on it for longer than 1 month (and I doubt I could maintain the willpower for that long anyway!) I won't have lost as much weight as I need by then but I'm hoping it will give me a good kickstart. Do you think I could lose a large chunk with S&S, then do the refeed plan for a week, then have a few weeks off (we're going on holiday) and then go back to a calorie-controlled (but not ketogenic) diet to lose the rest? Does that sound possible? I keep reading about people doing the refeed once they are at goal, as a way of getting back into normal eating - but haven't read about anybody only doing a partial S&S diet and then going to another method to lose the rest.

Not sure if any of that makes sense :)

tiggermummy70 · 31/03/2014 16:27

Hi Twigletnibbler - love the name although I can't stand them!
Can't help on the refeed question.
I've been on Cambridge for weeks now - 8 weeks as sole source and this is third week of meals + sachets, I lost on previous two weeks but have gained back this week 1-2lbs.
I think you will need to think about what you are going to do once you come off, have a plan in place first, calorie counting, diary, daily weigh ins.
Whatever you think will work for you. You might need to do a bit of reflection to see how you got to this point. We are all different so it might be emotional, boredom, portion sizes, scared of being hungry etc.
Try and id it now and work out what non-food thing(s) you will do to solve these problems when they happen but before they do.
I've lost 35lbs since I started this which is great but I lost 50lbs in the two previous years by calorie counting and moving more, I struggled the last year and gained about 10lbs of it back because I was getting frustrated no matter what I did the weight didn't move, but I didn't give up, I just kept trying different things, until I could find something that would work for me.
Good luck in finding what works for you, remember we didn't gain the extra overnight and no matter how hard we would like it to we won't loose it overnight either!!!!!

pinkapples · 31/03/2014 22:19

Well said tigger definitely the case although wouldn't if be great if it melted off overnight lol
