Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Because I am no good at selfies and I don't have a photo of me that isn't over 2 years old. I'll see what I can come up with in the next couple of days. It doesn't help that my laptop is newish and I don't have many of my photos saved on it.

BigBoobiedBertha · 27/03/2014 12:15

OK I give in. You made me feel bad. Hopefully there is a side ways picture on my profile now. I will sort out its orientation when I get back - got to go out for a few hours.Smile

Millyblods · 27/03/2014 14:37

Wow....what beautiful, big eyes you have. Love that colour on you too and lovely hair. Your looking good BBB Smile.

BigBoobiedBertha · 27/03/2014 19:24

Thanks Milly. You are very kind, bonkers but very kind. Grin

Thankfully it is not the full HD high res photo because you could see the bags under my eyes. Bloody dog woke me up at 7am. The alarm is set for 7.45am so I am missing a much needed 45 minutes of beauty sleep. She isn't supposed to climb the stairs and for the 5 mths since we've had her she hasn't worked out that the stairs go to Upstairs Land. Unfortunately, now she has worked it out she has started roaming although thankfully pooing on the landing, as she did the first time, seems to have been a one off. Anyway, I woke to rustling this morning, thought for a moment we had mince and then looked up to see her peering at me from the side of the bed. She had found her way into the bedroom. Angry

It was a condition of having her that I didn't have to walk her or take responsibility for her on a regular basis, we didn't take her on holiday and she didn't go upstairs. 2 out of 3 of those are now broken as I have to walk her on weekdays and worse still, at this rate we might have to revert to stair gates. Shock I hated them when we had toddlers. I don't want to have one indefinitely for the sake of a dog.

It is just as well she is so handsome. (picture of her on my profile as well)

BigBoobiedBertha · 27/03/2014 19:28

Not mince obviously -MICE

Mince in the bedroom would be more of a worry than the dog and perhaps what she was looking forward.

Me thinks it is time to make tea. Grin

Happy Mothering Sunday everyone!

You all look fab btw! :)

Bad evening yesterday as I went for a meal out and ate far, far too much.

Happy Mothering Sunday to you too Solo!

You would be in my MIL's good books for giving the day the right name. We I spend ages looking for a card that has that on it. She is always so pleased DH sends a card with Mothering Sunday on that we now feel obliged to look every year. DH also gets one up on his little brothers too. Sibling rivalry is alive and well! (They do get on all right really Smile).

We had fish and chips from the chippy yesterday so I didn't do that well yesterday evening either (we only do it a couple of times a yr). Fresh start today for both of us.

Enjoy your day. Smile

Solo · 30/03/2014 14:08

It was much worse than fish and chips for me! Was the full works at a restaurant...nice though!!

Enjoy yours too!xx

Blimey were my photos so bad that everybody has run screaming from the thread? Grin

Hope everybody is OK and getting to enjoy some sunshine.

Hello! Not at all BBB, is lovely to 'see' you and I agree with Milly, you're lovely!

I've been MIA because I had a friend visiting then did 3 night shifts! However I weighed myself at my sister's today and have lost another 3lb! I am now back to what I weighed when I got pregnant (13st 2lb) so have lost the sleep deprivation/BF hunger weight. I vow to only weigh myself once a month but I'm sticking with the gastric band!
How is everyone doing?

BigBoobiedBertha · 01/04/2014 21:49

Well done Faith. That is great! Glad things are going well.

I am on an unintentional semi fast. I broke a tooth about 3 weeks ago and had an appointment to have it looked at today. Apparently it was a simple filling so the dentist did it there and then. Only problem is that I am not supposed to eat on that side of my mouth for 24 hours but I also can't really eat on the other side of my mouth either because I have a dodgy crown I am not supposed to over use. I didn't have a proper lunch and I very gingerly had to eat my tea too. Snacking doesn't seem worth the effort even though I hungry now. Hmm

Bringing the thread up to the front again!!

Hello Solo, I thought I was all alone. I can virtually see the tumbleweed. Grin

ALittleFaith · 04/04/2014 22:34

Argh I've been glutened! Went out for a pub lunch for my Dad's birthday. I checked ahead what was GF but I suspect they've told me what foods are GF, not actually cooked it separately. I feel like crap! I'm also cross because if I was going to experience this I'd have gone the whole hog and eaten pie! It wasn't even a very good meal :( I did get a free cocktail though!

yippeekiyay2 · 05/04/2014 06:51

Hi all, just been reading and catching up with the thread - feels like ages since I've been on, and haven't been doing PM either - just binging a lot. I suffer from depressive moods and had been very down recently for lots of different reasons - ironically my weight (and having a wardrobe full of clothes that don't fit) is one of them, yet this just makes me want to eat more [sceptical]. BUT what's interesting this tme is I have no desire to start a diet like I did before, just really want to change my mindset, I feel like maybe I want it TOO much and am overthinking it, so got to get back to basics and the 4 rules. Going to try and do this today and be positive!

ALittleFaith · 09/04/2014 15:13

Hello all.

Yippee sorry you've had a delay in replies! I know that feeling very well. There's a self-sabotage button. Even when I successfully lose weight I binge afterwards. I just keep reinforcing with the CDs. I'm also watching TED life hacks videos which are changing my perspective on things!

I am feeling more motivated. I went running on Saturday and yesterday and feel good for it! :) I'm a bit stuck because my size 16 stuff is very loose now (elasticated waists falling down!) but a lot of the 14 stuff doesn't fit!

msrisotto · 09/04/2014 21:17

I'm confused. I'm never hungry for breakfast but have always made myself eat something anyway because it has been rammed home to me for years that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But Paul McKenna only wants me to eat when I'm hungry....what should I do??

BigBoobiedBertha · 09/04/2014 22:05

Imo you shouldn't eat breakfast until you are ready Msrisotto. If you aren't hungry your body clearly doesn't need food. Some of us just take some time to get going first thing in the morning, me included.

I was on a thread about a similar question about 2 weeks ago. There were several of us who aren't hungry first thing and we all found if we made ourselves eat something it made us more not less likely to overeat later. There was also the feeling that night owls don't need breakfast as much as morning people - that is pure speculation though.

Anyway, if you eat when you are hungry (as opposed to ravenous because you have left it too long) and if you only eat what you want then you can't go far wrong. Forcing a bowl of Weetabix down your throat first thing just because that is what everybody assumes is the right thing for all of us, breaks those rules and has the potential to mess up your hunger messages for the rest of the day. We need to listen to our bodies and they will let us know what we need I reckon. Easier said than done though, isn't it?!

Hi Faith. Well done on the running. Isn't it Faithlet's birthday next week? Do you have big plans? I can't believe it has been a whole year!

Tansie · 09/04/2014 22:40

Sorry if this was answered somewhere between page 1 and 26 on here- but how do you cope with mindful eating if you have to go to work and can't eat when you want?

I leave home at 8am, sometimes get a break anywhere between 10 and 12, then may or may not get lunch, then work from 2 til home at 5.30pm, sometimes with a break, often not. I am a HCP.

It kind of obligates you to eat on the trot or on your next break as another might not happen for 4 or 5 hours.

WWYD under these circumstances? Thankfully just 3 days a week for me.

Solo · 10/04/2014 00:46

Tansie, it's a tough one! I was the same and I still don't know the answer. Is it better to 'eat on the run' when hungry? or to just eat at the given break times...personally, I think it could be better to feel properly hungry, take 10/15 minutes and eat a 'conscious' meal, then carry on. Very difficult to get right though.

OP posts:
ALittleFaith · 10/04/2014 09:17

Yes BBB we remembered! Faithlet is one on Monday! Family gathering on Sunday. Very small party on Monday (with my sister, her two and a friend and her two). Can't quite believe it myself but then I recognise how much she can do and know its true!

Tansie hello! I do shifts 2 days/'nights a week. I get dictated breaks. I generally find I am hungry when I get my break. I do have snack bars in my locker and if I'm getting very hungry I'll nip out 'to the loo' and have a quick munch to keep me going. It's also important to eat plenty of protein as that will keep you feeling full for longer.

Tansie · 10/04/2014 09:33

Thanks Faith and Solo.At least no one seems to mind if we eat 'on the job' as in I can sit at my (unseen by the public!) console and eat a snack. And if they did mind (the bosses!) they'd soon see what the waiting list looks like were we all to actually take our mandated breaks! Grin.

I am thinking I may have to adopt a 'snack culture' when at work; I guess the trick being to have proper snacks to hand rather than a handful of crisps or a cake which are the usual readily available choices!

ALittleFaith · 10/04/2014 09:50

I like snack bars with almonds in them so they are tasty, satisfy a 'crunchy' desire but also high in protein. Ah yes, after my mat leave I was told I owed 50 hours (due to a cock up with off duty). I have worked them back but wonder how many hours I could have claimed back whenever I stayed late or took short breaks?!

BigBoobiedBertha · 10/04/2014 11:33

Faith I promise I don't have a spreadsheet of MNers, I just remember your DD was born on my mum's birthday! Sounds like a very pleasant weekend.

Enjoy the baby years. I am off to see Captain America later. I didn't have to put up with films I have absolutely no interest in, in the baby years! Got to go too as I think it is a 12a and DS2 is only 10 so needs his mum there. I'm counting the days until he is 12 and I can just drop and run! Grin
