And anyone else who wants to join in. The idea of this thread is a way to record weightloss, motivate each other, discuss which methods if any we are using to lose weight and give the occasional kick up the bum.

Right you lot. I was going to wait until new year to start this thread but I think that if I'm going to have my head in the right place to start, I need your help now. I haven't weighed yet I'll do that on the 1st but I think I probably have 2 1/2 stone to lose. Last time I had 3st to lose so I'm seeing that as a postitive.

So, are any of you still out there? Who'd like to join me? Xmas Grin

ah thanks you lot. Got today's stint done without too much snackage, and just attempted a Shred workout - hoping it will improve my mood Smile

ToeFluff · 21/01/2014 15:13

Urgh I'm doing the shred tonight, not looking forward to it though as I'm so unfit I sweat like a pig just doing the warm up!

Must do some exercises though, holiday WILL be different this year! Xx

Tobermory · 21/01/2014 16:08

Feeling very snacky right now...

I've found a couple of chocolates and I'm sure they be so very very nice!

Did anyone see that sugar programme last night? Dp made me watch half of it and whilst I was thinking bla bla can't eat anything anymore yadda yadda I passed dp his drink and there was 39% sugar in his can of Pepsi! It's really made me realise just how much sugar is in food and drink. It's awful!

Reastie · 21/01/2014 18:20

Toe that's so funny Grin , sorry, but I did grin at not being sure which number was fat and which was water. Now, that could be a vital difference!

If hope shred did indeed help the mood.

What sugar programme was this? Sounds like just the kind of thing I love (and should watch for educational purposes for my job). Will catch up on iplayer or whatever is someone alerts me to what/when it was. I'm not surprised re: sugary drinks. I've been meaning to do a board display in my classroom with bottles of different drinks and how much sugar each of them contain hung up in a bag next to them. I think this is going to be the new 'thing' - everyone will realise how rubbish they are and they will all go low calorie with artificial sweetner (which then will be discovered to have health problems of its own...). If you look at loads of processed food labels it's amazing how much fat/sugar/salt is in alot of them.

Not doing too badly today. Eaten some choc but also did a cardio workout to make up.

FattyMcSaggyChops · 21/01/2014 18:35

Hi everyone, just checking in.

Weighed myself on Monday and 15st 6lb so exactly the same. I'm ok about this as had my DNs christening (so there was wine AND cake) plus it's my TOTM.

However I am not ok that I've ate 4 cakes yesterday and today! :(

No excuse really. I made healthy dinners plus took healthy lunch and snacks to the office but a colleagues wife had baked a lot over the weekend.

Also it's my birthday on Friday so there will likely be cake.

I too am another with numerous bras but only one that fits, will need to sort this!

njaw · 21/01/2014 18:36

Please can I come and play? Am following a paleo diet at the moment and training pretty hard, have 30lbs to lose and am in pretty determined mode.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/01/2014 18:48

Welcome njaw, what is the paleo diet? I've never heard of it.

I didn't watch the sugar program but I did watch the one about the people who had excess skin after huge weightloss. I mean some of them had lost about 20 st!! It was amazing watching them get their lives back. Did anyone else see it?

OP posts:
ToeFluff · 21/01/2014 18:49

It's was last nights dispatches on bbc1 Reastie, whilst watching it I thought it was scaremongering bla bla but all day I've been looking at labels and gobsmacked!

Don't beat ureself up fatty(feels mean calling u that!) it's not the wobble off the horse that matters it's the not thinking sod it and giving up. You can do it, it's just getting the 1st day out the way and then it's self motivated as you won't want to waste the effort x

And welcome naw...what's the paleo diet called when it's at home?!

X

ToeFluff · 21/01/2014 18:52

Baggy bodies?! I saw that advertised but didn't get to watch it, I had a friend who's mum lost 9.5 stone and her doc said she had at least a stone of excess skin. It's amazing really when u think about we're all born within a few lbs of each other..

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/01/2014 19:03

I was horrified and fascinated at the same time Toe, but most of all grateful that I will never have to lose that much.

OP posts:
Reastie · 21/01/2014 19:10

TToe must watch that dispatches. Often these things try to be sensationalist so much that it just annoys me but sometimes they have a point.

're excess skin program. Does seven stone count as huge loss? Probably not but my excess skin is pretty awful. The tummy is the worst!

Hello njaw, another one who has no idea what paleo diet is.

Sorry for odd typing but on touchscreen.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/01/2014 19:35

I don't know if 7st was a huge loss in the program but it is in rl. There was a woman who had the skin removed on nhs so you could ask your gp for a referral if it's really bothering you.

Another guy didn't qualify on the nhs but had a full body lift privately. It cost him £8000 though.

OP posts:
Reastie · 21/01/2014 19:49

I saw a couple of pictures online of people who had skin removed and tbh their scars looks as obvious as the excess skin did, I think I'd only do it if the skin was causing discomfort/physical complaints. I imagine it takes years to get to have it done on NHS!

InMySpareTime · 21/01/2014 19:52

It'd be good if people needing exces skin removed could donate it for skin grafts, as kidney donors give.
My weight went off steadily so my skin shrank back pretty well, but I did lose 1/3 of my total body mass.
I keep missing all the interesting sounding TV, I suppose I should spend less time with my nose stuck in a book...

TheOneWithTheHair · 22/01/2014 11:31

Morning everyone. I know it's only Wednesday but I feel I'm having a good week this week. I woke feeling strong and optimistic. I'm still only getting exercise from running the dcs round and looking after the house but mentally I'm in the right place.

Apart from chocolate coins (which are horrid) how are you all getting on?

TheOneWithTheHair · 22/01/2014 16:23

Oh eighty how sad. If it makes you feel better I think they all go through this to some extent. My advice would be to let the CM try. They are sometimes better with other people than with a parent. I think consistency is the key. You need to just keep battling I'm afraid.

Doesn't make it easy though. When ds2 went to play group he was the only child ever to escape from the hall. The door had a bolt in the ceiling, one in the floor and the handle is about 5' high. I would turn up to see a stack of chairs pushed against the door so he couldn't actually push it open. I think the staff were equally impressed and horrified. I had to go back after 1/2hr in the end and we gradually increased the time.

It was bloody heartbreaking! :(

ToeFluff · 22/01/2014 17:09

See I have it the other way and when I picked mini toes up from nursery today he saw me shouted from where he was playing he didn't want to go home and I could go back to work!

Was quite painful :(

TheOneWithTheHair · 22/01/2014 17:24

I had that from my first two dcs Toe. I consoled myself with the thought that at least they were happy in nursery. Still hard though.
