Hello and seasons greetings everyone Xmas Smile

I thought it would be nice to have a fitness fred to cheer each other on when we begin our excise routines this January. This is what you need to do:

  1. Sign in and introduce yourself
  2. Tell us what exercise you plan on doing come January 2014
  3. Tell us how you will treat yourself

Also, you don't have to do this but I love this website www.calm.com/ - they have a wonderful 2 minute meditation :)

And for those who tell me to start now... sod that, it is Christmas!!!

Hi I'm Milk :) I like talking on these threads as although weight loss is not my only goal, you ladies are very motivated and I need that kick up the ass! As for exercise, I shall be doing a 30 minute exercise DVD once a day :)

Milk, I'm impressed that you've started already!
I really need to sort out my emotional eating but I can't right now. So exercise it is!
FCEK, how do you find the 7min workout app? Would you recommend it?

day 1 - juice for breakfast but I really can't face going out for a run - its absolutely miserable out there.

might dust off the Shred instead if I can persuade dh to take the dc out to his mothers this afternoon - don't want an audience. Blush

good luck to everyone

Doodlekitty · 01/01/2014 10:31

Hi.

I have lost 3 stone since having my baby a year ago but I have more to lose and i'm the least fit person in the world. Finding time to exercise is a challenge so my plan for Jan is simply to go for brisker walks with baby and dog. I'm hoping this will move onto doing the c25k.

Had not thought of rewards, probably because it's so unlikely I'll succeed

FCEK · 01/01/2014 11:01

I haven't started it yet. Will aim to do so today but looking through it, the exercises are very simple and take obviously 7 min to do them all. I can manage 7min a day.

MrsMot · 01/01/2014 12:21

Hi all Xmas Smile

Doodle you will succeed so get those rewards lined up :)

Day 1 here of running, 25 mins walk/run in the blowing wind and rain - yuck! Aiming for 3/4 sessions a week, one short fast one with strength exercises at the end, then a couple of longer runs.

Start SW tomorrow - a friend is starting a new group. It's something I've followed before and I've a really good bunch of friends to help me along.

I lost two stone last year (and may have out a little back on...) and want to get down to my 'ideal' which will take about another stone and a half. I've also signed up for a half-marathon in May (yikes!) and am skiing at Feb half-term so lots of reasons to do it.

Also going to attempt a dry January. That's going to be the hardest part tbh. Have fallen into such bad habits.

Rewards? New running gear!

Good luck to everyone!

milk · 01/01/2014 14:23

You went out and ran in this weather MrsMot Shock You are amazing!!!

Day four of Slim in 6 completed :) This morning was such a struggle but I will do it!!!

Welcome everyone Grin Let's get fit together!

Hi. I've got about 2 stone to lose. I'm doing couch to 5k and am going to kick the booze. Have done day 1 & 2 of couch to 5k.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 01/01/2014 16:35

Just downloaded workput trainer to my phone and tried an 8 minute one. Felt good!
I might try and squeeze little ones like this into my daytimes. Smile

MrsMot · 01/01/2014 18:26

Mitzi that's how I started - C25K is brilliant!
Well done Miffy :)
milk thanks for starting this, just the help I need!

So what's everyone up to tomorrow?

Doodlekitty · 01/01/2014 20:00

Tomorrow: Ds has his injections at 2pm. Taking nice snuggly buggy and going for a walk after as its the best way to get him to sleep. Im aiming to find a route that is 3k to use when I start c25k properly.

ChubbyLittleLoser · 01/01/2014 20:09

Had my last big carb fest today, tomorrow it is all eggs, vegetables, cheese and yoghurt!

Going to shred tomorrow and hopefully my pilates dvds will turn up on friday. In awe of everyone doing the c25k in this weather, your much braver than me!

CharlieAlphaKiloEcho · 01/01/2014 20:50

How's everyone doing?

I came down with the flu yesterday but managed to struggle my way through 30 squats for a 30 day challenge. and had to lay on the floor waiting for the dizziness to stop

I had signed up for a running course starting next week but me being the most clumsy person ever I fell up the steps outside the national gallery on Monday and my knee is a lovely rainbow of colors and pretty sore even more so after the squats I can apparently transfer to the feb class so may do that. I might get more out of it if I have a month of exercise behind me anyway. Then I could focus on the actual running an less on the not dying!

Diet wise I've barely eaten today because I've been feeling so sick :(

putyourhatonsweetie · 01/01/2014 22:37

Hello there, shocker of a New Year's Day, we all got up early and did a long walk on the beach .... and then for some reason i didnt quite manage the new year new me thing and felt totally sorry for myself and comfort ate my way through the afternoon. Sigh. Still new year can start today, and I have had eggs and avocado for breakfast (not in the uk, not developed weird midnight snacking habit!) plenty of water and feel a bit more positive.

Doodlekitty · 02/01/2014 07:39

Typical! Have woken up this morning with asthma so bad I can hardly breath. usually this would be thw perfect excuse. But I'm going to see how much my inhaler works and maybe just go slower.

CharlieAlphaKiloEcho · 02/01/2014 08:30

Oh no Doddle. It always comes when you really have the motivation to do something doesn't it?

I feel so rough. Barely slept last night, too hot, too cold, everything aches.

Feel terrible as it's DD's birthday today (13! I feel so old...) and I'm doing a poor job of spoiling her. She just made me tea. I should b bring her breakfast in bed :(

I am going to get my squats in later though - even if it nearly kills me.

Most of my stuff was starting next week when the kids were back to school so I'm not missing too much. But I felt so raring to start on th 1st!

QuintessentialShadows · 02/01/2014 08:38

I am in! Smile

I am currently in Norway so wont be able to get started on any exercise regime (and we dont have enough good snow to even ski atm) until I am back in the UK next week.

I plan to exercise 2-3 a week. Zumba and maybe some other class, as well as one 60 minute hill climb on the cross trainer per week. Any additional walk or cycle ride will be a bonus

I am on a low fat diet, which is not really a diet but I am avoiding fatty food. No sweets, crisps, biscuits, cakes (other than rare occasion)

I have a stone to lose.
But I really need to increase my fitness levels as we have many big hikes planned for this summer. I need to be able to walk 10-20 km daily, carrying a huge rucksack.

Thanks for the thread!

MrsMot · 02/01/2014 11:11

Oh Doodle look after yourself :( Asthma's a sod isn't it . Same goes for you Charlie, take it easy - there's plenty of time to get going, don't rush things now.

Hi Quint :)

Had a lovely 40 min walk/run today, about 4.5k. Weather's glorious which made splashing through the mud and puddles all the more enjoyable. Day off tomorrow then trying a Parkrun with my ds1.

I'm also trying myfitnesspal as lots of people have recommended it as a tracker. It's a bit more detailed than I'd usually be when dieting so we'll see how that goes.

milk · 02/01/2014 11:28

I've hit my exercise wall and losing the will to continue (with exercising, I'm not suicidal). Any tips?

OP posts:
AndMiffyWentToSleep · 02/01/2014 11:36

Milk, how about trying one of those 7 minute workouts? Even if you hate it, it's so short.
Or else try a completely different activity for a change?

ChubbyLittleLoser · 02/01/2014 12:44

Well I've shredded today and hopefully my pilates dvds will come tomorrow so I can start on them, must remember to exercise when DS is in bed though, he spent most of the shred standing on my toes, running in between my legs and laughing at me Hmm

Milk how about doing something small today so it's not much to do but you have done something like running up and down stairs, jogging on the spots and doing punches?

milk · 02/01/2014 14:17

I managed a 30 minute walk. I shall now be in my sleeping bag for the rest of the day!

OP posts:
FCEK · 02/01/2014 15:11

Did the 7 min workout. That was hard for just a short duration.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 02/01/2014 18:32

Ok on the back of FCEK's last post, I've downloaded a 7min app.
I managed a 20min workout during naptime today - should've been longer, really. Never mind.
