Hello quiche avoiders Wink

Lovely shiny new thread- we are a talkative bunch!

First Thread

Second Thread

To be a quiche avoider you must
-have a considerable amount of weight to lose
-be serious about wanting to lose it
-give other members a virtual kick up the arse when needed
-weigh in with us on a Wednesday (or if you weigh in on another day, post your results on a wednesday)

So roll up, jump in and lets lose lbs! and if you are having a moment of weakness just remember... what would clarinet do Wink

Well done on the loss so far Alternative! Don't worry about where you started just think about where you are headed!

I have just done a 6km run, if someone had said I would be able to do that 6 months ago I would have laughed at them!

AlternativeMoniker53 · 06/11/2013 15:30

Have just come home and weighed clothing as I realised weighing myself in long, leather, wedge heeled knee boots wasn't doing me any favours! (Not that I'm obsessive or anything.) So I'm officially bumping myself down to 11 stone 13, not bad for 1 day Grin.

Thank you Sirzy that's a great way of looking at it. I'm going to work out my real BMI as the heels probably helped me out there!

AlternativeMoniker53 · 06/11/2013 15:45

Debs your UTI sounds awful. I hope you've got the right medicine? Clarinet I think charity shop clothes are a great idea while you work out your new style. Maybe a great pair of jeans that fit really well and work around them?

You're all an inspiration. I'm not sure I'm up to running just yet, perhaps I'll look into getting some trainers Grin. DH is away this week which makes it much easier for me to avoid big meals and wine. I'm on vodka and diet tonic if anything in the evenings and I went on the rowing machine for the first time in ages this morning. Onwards and downwards!

IsThatTrue · 06/11/2013 15:52

alternative running is great and coupled with a healthy diet really helps rid those guinea pigs Grin

sirzy well done on your 6k, that's about what I did this morning too. I do love a good morning run :)

Sirzy · 06/11/2013 16:41

I have only started running in the last few weeks but have really caught the running bug - its a great stress reliever too. I am not the fastest of runners yet (took me just under 50 mins to do 6km) but its good at burning the calories.

YellowCanary1 · 06/11/2013 17:59

Hello, well done on all great weight losses!
I'm down 4.5lbs! I did put on a couple lbs last week (too many take aways during moving!) So now 12st5.5lbs. Want to be in 11stone arena by end of november. :-)

clarinetV2 · 06/11/2013 18:22

Some great losses posted today, well done folks. As always I'm filled with admiration for the runners. In another life maybe I'll do that too - but in this one I think I'll stick with walking!! Lottie, I'm so pleased to hear you've made it into the 14s. That was a really important milestone for me when I hit it just over a year ago - it was the first big sign to myself that I was really on the way to where I wanted to be. I hope you're feeling as chuffed with yourself as I remember being - and although there have been setbacks along the way, it now doesn't feel long at all since I was there. I'm beaming all over remembering what it felt like to me, and I really, really hope you're enjoying the moment.

Thanks for the responses on the clothes question, everyone. I'm planning to take Birding's advice and gradually work in a few better-fitting items. One of my charity shop buys was a long-sleeved shirt that's better fitting than most of what I've been wearing to date. I wouldn't call it a close fit, so although it's not something to hide behind it's not exactly revealing either. And I think I look good in it. I've decided to wear it tomorrow, with a cardigan to hide behind over it. The building I work in is pretty over-heated, so I won't want to keep the cardigan on all day, but it'll be there if I get the collywobbles and need to hide!

IsThatTrue · 06/11/2013 18:44

sirzy the running bug is easy to catch and it's so easy to fit in. And yes the amount if calories you burn is a great motivator. You're doing really well for only having been running a few weeks. I'm having to do all my running in the day atm as DH is in India for 3 weeks, which is a pain, but it does mean I h ave to take ds2 in the buggy, and he is getting heavier by the day! When I finally get to run alone it'll feel like I'm flying! Grin

Well I'm on a fast day today. I've been very restrained (best fast day in weeks) I've had a babybell and a thin slice of dcs pizza. And 1 piece of bread with balsamic. Dinner is a massive salad with tomato basil and mozerella and a salmon fillet. I'm ready for it, just need to get the kids to bed !

moonshine · 06/11/2013 19:27

Wow, there's an awful lot of guinea pigs lost this week!

I've not really been dieting for nearly 2 weeks so am starting again and shall declare a sts week. I've stopped drinking so much (it was for my cough/cold, honest!), just need to knock my new-found crisp habit on the head, especially after catching a side view of myself in the lift today (definitely not my best side)

HenriettaPie · 06/11/2013 21:26

This has been a great week, well done quiche avoiders!! Smile

Will do stats in the morning incase we have any late weigh ins tonight Smile

Sirzy · 06/11/2013 21:30

Clarienet - 6 months ago I never thought I would be able to run but if I can anyone can!

BirdingWidow · 07/11/2013 05:11

Sirzy, I really don't believe that I can ever run, or would ever enjoy it!

I don't know what is wrong with me - I binged on crisps last night. Haven't done that for ages. I feel a as though I am seriously losing my way Sad

phantomhairpuller · 07/11/2013 07:11

STS this week- told you i'd be no contest for slimmer of the week Wink

Reastie · 07/11/2013 08:13

Sirzy don't think I'll ever catch that running bug. I've tried and just never got on with it. I just get stitch all the time or need the loo!

Birding the important thing isn't the binges and mess ups, the important thing is carrying on anyway despite of those and not giving up. Try not to beat yourself up about the crisps and start again today. You CAN do it. (hopes that doesn't sound patronising, it's not meant to be).

Well done on all the losses, some really good ones this week.

Clarinet the charity shop idea sounds like great advice. Tbh I'm not shy in wearing my slimmer clothes Blush but I can completely understand where you're coming from and that shirt sounds like a great thing to wear. Hope that cardigan makes it off at some point Wink

debs are you feeling better yet? Sounds utterly miserable.

Hello monkier . Re scales, if you do buy some, I had a pair of electronic weight watchers one which were really good. Had to get rid of them as lost the carpet legs on them and weigh myself on carpet. Got a fancy pants pair which you have to hold onto a handle and it does body fat/bmi/bmr/probably can open my front door as well but tbh I don't use most of the facilities often. Think I originally got my ww one from robert dyas in a sale quite cheap.

LottieDidIt · 07/11/2013 09:56

Clarinet thank you for your post Grin I really am pleased to get to be 14 stone something as I feel I'm on my way to getting somewhere now. I've lost 1stone 10 so far and don't think you can really tell yet as I always think it takes a bit to start to notice when you're really big so I'm hoping in the next month or so it might start to show more than just on the scales! That is so motivating for you to say it feels like not long ago since you hit this milestone and look where you are now! Thank you for you encouragement Flowers I hope you are feeling comfortable and confident in your new shirt today Smile

moniker that's great that the weigh in wasn't as scary as you thought it was going to be!

I hope the meds start to make you feel better soon Debs it sounds miserable Flowers

I had a flash of a daily motivation whilst watching Peppa Pig this morning - Daddy Pig running in the parents race at school sports day!! I don't know does that really happen still? If I had to do that now the thought of it would fill me with absolute dread - luckily I've got another year until my DC's start school - I WILL be a slimmer, happier mummy by then Smile, although probably still be last in the parents race Wink

hope you all have a lovely day

Debs75 · 07/11/2013 10:34

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies

Birding I don't know I haven't got dressed since Friday.
I have had a better nights sleep and I'm not in as much pain so think I may be on the road to recovery.Smile I also managed breakfast today. A tiny bowl of cheerios and some grapes and an orange.

I will take it slow but I know I will be soon reaching my points limit every day and moaning that I am hungry.

LottieDidIt · 07/11/2013 11:32

Well done on slimmer of the week Henrietta! Here have some Flowers Flowers Flowers as you've not given yourself any!

I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit more on the mend Debs

IsThatTrue · 07/11/2013 12:04

debs that does sound utterly awful. Glad to hear you're on the mend!

Well done henrietta on slimmer of the week. You forgot to give yourself your Thanks

Well I've been told I shouldn't lose more weight by friend but I'm not even into normal bmi yet, still 1lb to go for that. And I'd like to have a bmi of 23 not 25 if I can manage it.

Non fast day today, skipped breakfast as didn't get time, had a couple of biscuits at toddlers and now a massive salad for lunch. Dinner is a chicken fajita pizza. Mmmm this is the reason I like 5:2, some days I can just eat what I fancy!

AlternativeMoniker53 · 07/11/2013 12:11

Thanks Reastie for the scales advice. I'll have a look at the weight watchers scales. I googled Boots scales expecting it to say they had to be really accurate as they were in a public place but the feedback was quite the opposite. Oh well, it's a start!

I've joined My Fitness Pal under the name saladdodger101 if anyone would care to befriend me Grin. I've started taking some Adios tablets I had lurking in the cupboard as well, I won't buy any more but I thought it couldn't hurt! DH will be back from foreign parts tomorrow evening, he had his birthday out there and we're entertaining twice over the weekend so I'm vaguely fasting knowing that I will eat (and drink!) the world Friday-Sunday night. MFP is chastising me!

Congratulations Henrietta, 5lb is amazing! Congratulations everyone else as well Smile. Thank you all for making me feel so welcome. Hopefully we'll all be much happier to be included in the Christmas photos this year than last year!

Reastie · 07/11/2013 12:26

alternative I've just tried to befriend you on mfp. My nn is the same but with 1 on the end. Love the fact you're 'saladdodger101' - does that mean there are 100 other salad dodgers out there before you?! Wink . Interesting what you say on the boots scales not being reliable. I always thought they would be too.

henrietta that's AMAZING, well deserved slimmer of the week for sure. And yellow you did really well too

AlternativeMoniker53 · 07/11/2013 12:30

Yay! I've got a friend!!! Thanks, Reastie, I've added you.
