Hello quiche avoiders Wink

Lovely shiny new thread- we are a talkative bunch!

First Thread

Second Thread

To be a quiche avoider you must
-have a considerable amount of weight to lose
-be serious about wanting to lose it
-give other members a virtual kick up the arse when needed
-weigh in with us on a Wednesday (or if you weigh in on another day, post your results on a wednesday)

So roll up, jump in and lets lose lbs! and if you are having a moment of weakness just remember... what would clarinet do Wink

Thanks clarinet, my PhD is in social policy focusing on early intervention services for vulnerable children and the role of communities. I have say I daily think I'm mad taking this all on, though happened by chance rather than planned! Will settle once we've renovated new house and moved!

phantomhairpuller · 10/10/2013 18:25

Couldn't agree more about struggling to fit in time to exercise. We don't live particularly close to any family (as in babysitters Wink) so the only chance I get is when DH is home- evenings or weekends.

Fast day for me today, have been on tenterhooks all day waiting to hear about job interview I went on yesterday, so I haven't actually felt like eating all day Wink

Finally at 5.40pm when i'd given up hope I got the call. I GOT THE JOB!!! It's nothing spectacular, very similar to the job i was doing before maternity leave- but it's 10mins away from home as opposed to 45mins! I'm over the moon, it's been a long time coming Smile

DH, bless his heart, forgot I was in a fast day and has come in with a huge box of chocolates and a bottle of champagne to day well done!

I may have to sit on my hands all evening. Or sew my mouth shut! Grin

Sirzy · 10/10/2013 18:30

Congratulations phantom

YellowCanary1 · 10/10/2013 19:08

Well done phantom! !

IsThatTrue · 10/10/2013 19:20

Well done phantom and you can have chocs and champagne tomorrow :)

I find it ok to exercise but I only really run. And I have a buggy for ds2 that I can run with. Dd and ds1 are at school all day and I work flexi hours at home. So I have much more time to fit stuff in. What I can't manage atm is anything that has a set time in the evening as ds2 still feeds to sleep and has a habit of waking up half an hour after he's been out down, for more boob. So I miss my beloved Zumba. But tbh the running is doing me well so I shouldn't complain.

Tomorrow will be a bad day diet wise as am at a friends in the afternoon for dcs to have tea and us to gossip and then at another friends for a takeaway later on. I do not want to make good food choices I just want to eat what I fancy. So my plan is to do a mini fast and eat nothing until I go out and then I can have what I like. On sat am doing a 5k jog run with ds1 as I promised he could come to parkrun with me this week. And then me dd ds1 and ds2 (in the buggy) are doing a 5k sponsored walk for charity in the evening (I out pyjamas Shock). So if I splurge tomo at least I'll burn some of it off the next day!

HenriettaPye · 10/10/2013 20:28

Well done phantom! And your DH sounds so lovely!!

Well done phantom! Fab news on the short commute, that is worth it's weight in gold because life will be massively easier.

Enjoy your chocolates tomorrow! Grin

cq · 11/10/2013 10:16

Congratulations Phantom - hope you're looking forward to getting stuck into the champagne and chocolates tonight. Just think of all that extra exercise you can do in the extra 70 mins you've saved on your round trip Wink

When do you start? Will you have to buy a whole new wardrobe of work clothes?

IsThatTrue sounds like you'll shift a few pounds on Saturday - hope the weather's not too awful for you all, especially in your PJ's.

BirdingWidow · 11/10/2013 10:56

Congrats Phantom. A shorter commute makes a huge world of difference to quality of life, in my experience. Definitely worth celebrating.

Baby is still sick, though a bit better. Wish I could say the same... I am now on the norovirus diet. I wouldn't recommend it but I'll say this for it: I am not tempted by food at all. Not a thing. Ug.

YellowCanary1 · 11/10/2013 12:44

Back on the wagon going well, being good yesterday resulted in the gained 1lb disappearing by this morn, so I'm back to 12st8lbs.
Just fijished my bowl of stir fry veg for lunch. Out for dinner this eve, menu is online so trying to pre choose based on healthy choices! !

phantomhairpuller · 11/10/2013 18:10

The champagne is open and it's goood!!

Happy weekend ladies Grin

Debs75 · 11/10/2013 19:10

Argh after a good week I have had 3 large chocolate cookies which DP sneaked into the trolley yesterday.Angry I should of resisted them, but they were gorgeous. I have made up by having soup with no bread and lots of veg with no carbs for tea.

Great news on the job Phantom

Anotherguineapigdown · 11/10/2013 19:22

Well done on the job, Phantom!

I am dreading my weigh-in tomorrow. I have been ok food-wise, as the hypnotism seems to take care of that, but I have had a few glasses of wine, and I had half a bottle of Champagne one evening as it was my wedding anniversary. I think the best I can hope for is STS, but I expect it will be a gain. Sad

Sirzy · 11/10/2013 19:24

I really need chocolate and wine tonight. Trying hard to resist raiding the freezer for chocolate, thankfully no wine in the house!

clarinetV2 · 11/10/2013 21:10

Excellent news, Phantom, well done. Enjoy the champagne - you deserve it.

I've mostly been back on the wagon this week, but there were cakes this afternoon at a work event, and I had one before I'd even thought about it. And I went for a drink after work. I meant to stick to mineral water, but ended up having two gin and tonics. I'm going to try really hard to have a healthy weekend - I've a long walk planned for Sunday weather permitting, and a full day of non-food-related things tomorrow, so hopefully all will go well. One of the things I'm doing tomorrow is scouring the local charity shops to see if I can get a couple of jackets and maybe a few other bits and pieces for work because I don't have anything to wear in cold weather that fits me! Around this time last year I bought a load of size 18 clothes for autumn/winter - I was so pleased at the time to be fitting into size 18 (it sounds much less to me than 20) but now they hang off me. I can't afford a big shop at the moment, so I'm hoping that the charity shops will kit me out for the time being.

Anotherguineapig, half a bottle of champagne on your anniversary doesn't sound overly indulgent to me. You might find it hasn't made too much of an impact if you've been careful with your eating.

clarinetV2 · 11/10/2013 21:11

Oh, and Sirzy, step away from the freezer!! You can do it.

Anotherguineapigdown · 12/10/2013 10:52

Just weighed in and by some miracle, despite the wine and Champagne, I am now 15 stone 2 and three quarters (don't you just love digital scales?)! Which is 3 and a quarter pounds down!

I will only count the 3 pounds, as it will give me a quarter pound start on next week. Grin So that is a total of 35 pounds lost - so that is an average two-year-old and 2 chihuahuas! Grin

I am so pleased. I am going on holiday next Friday so I need to make sure I keep on track while I am away.

MissElodie · 12/10/2013 10:56

phantom congrats on the job - that's great news Smile

I well and truly fell off the wagon the last couple of days Sad On Thursday night I had chips, rice, curry sauce and cheese and even though my stomach hurt as I had eaten so much I still stuffed in a big bar (200 grams??) of Dairy Milk bubbly just because I thought I may as well cheat big style Blush Blush . I tried to get back on yesterday but fell off again when I ate choc digestives, crisps and tea cakes without really thinking about it.

Urgh - daily weigh in shows 3lb on for my sins Shock. I need to get back in the mindset now before I do even more damage Sad. Hopefully today will be a good day........hope everyone else has a good weekend Smile

MissElodie · 12/10/2013 10:58

well done anothergp 3lb loss is great especially when you weren't expecting it!!

MiaWallace · 12/10/2013 18:44

I have really been struggling the last few weeks hence my lack of posts.

Feeling motivated again now though as three people have commented on my weight loss this week. I don't know why people are now noticing because I've only managed to lose 2lb in the last three weeks.

It been nice that 2 of the people who commented on my loss didn't even know I was dieting so it's not as if they were looking for it (does that make sense?)

Also bought a size 16 jumper today. Although it has a bit of give, plus it's also a bit snug, I can actually wear it without looking ridiculous. I definitely can't claim to be a 16 yet but maybe now an 18 on top instead of the 22 that I was.

Congratulations on the job Phantom.

HenriettaPye · 12/10/2013 21:12

Mia sorry to hear you have been struggling, but glad to see you back on track. Sorry I have been neglecting you all, I've been so busy getting ready for my best friends wedding on Monday! Had my spray tan tonight so fingers crossed it turns out ok! Nails have been done, Wax has been done and getting hair done on Monday morning. I've never been this pampered! Smile

OP posts:
Sirzy · 12/10/2013 21:15

Seems lots of us are struggling at the moment, we need a group kick up the backside I think!

I had pizza for tea (only 1/4 of a pizza though) and have dragged myself to bed to stop me eating more. I am blaming time of the month but know I need to keep myself in control.

BirdingWidow · 12/10/2013 22:41

Mia, I am glad you are feeling motivated again. Sometimes the scales are not as encouraging as other feedback, such as looser clothes or others noticing we look different. (though in my case it is the other way round -scales show decent loss of almost 2 stone since spring but I am still in the same jeans, grr). But any encouraging sign is good, other progress will surely follow.

Don't give up everyone - I am plodding on but don't think I can do it without you lot! feeling much better today and had my first meal in 2 days tonight. However, DP is now sick... Hope this plague passes soon Sad

YellowCanary1 · 13/10/2013 09:45

Glad you're feeling better birding. Hope your dh recovers quickly!
I'm doing much better now being strict on myself again.
Mia, I think we all drop off thread when having a bad time as its hard to admit its going wrong. I find posting lots and checking in helps me throw myself back in the zone! I'm aiming for 2lbs this week!

Reastie · 13/10/2013 11:33

Birding you will get in new jeans, promise! Glad you're feeling better, how miserable.

Mia 2lbs in 3 weeks is still really good even if it's not as much as you'd like. I try to tell myself it took xx years to go on so will take a long time to come off. Go and weigh 3lbs of sugar or flour from your cupboard and you'll see 3lbs is actually quite alot in weight. You're doing really well and just need to keep it up and eventually you will get there. Being a snug 16 is amazing from a 22, you've done so well (that sounds patronising but it isn't meant to be). This is a marathon not a sprint.

MissElodie what's done is done, it's the getting back on it and not giving up that's the main thing.

Another great work Grin

I've just done my insanity workout. DH watched me for some of it Blush and I think thought it looked quite hard or maybe it was me making it look hard which made me Grin . Really worked hard though so feel good and hoping for a 1 lb loss this week.
