Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

No, but I had a caffe latte about 4pm, and about 4 glasses of water. Did not snack at all.

MillyRules · 01/11/2013 21:30

I can go long periods between meals. If you don't feel hungry, dont eat until you feel the hunger. You will definitely know when your hungry like you did at breakfast time today. So I wouldn't have eaten till I felt that same hungry feeling again.

MillyRules · 01/11/2013 21:35

Maybe just try to not eat now until you really feel the need and then you should realise what hungry feels like to you. Smile. You won't starve but your body will definitely let you know when it needs refuelling.

MillyRules · 01/11/2013 21:37

If you had a latte isn't that a milky drink? That can be filling and protein filled.

Jellybean456 · 01/11/2013 21:49

Just remembered that I also had a Pepsi max. I will Definately now not eat until I know that I am hungry. Now not sure if I have really been hungry yet. I am so used to eating 3 times a day, that I think that I may be actually kidding myself that I have been hungry, even this morning.

I'm going out for lunch tomorrow, so I am going hold off breakfast if I don't know if I am Definately hungry.

I will also stop the lattes for a while until I experience the hunger.

MillyRules · 01/11/2013 22:18

Good idea. People say they don't ever feel hunger but in my opinion if you go without food long enough you will definitely feel that feeling of desperation to get food down you Grin . That said, that is not how you want to be all the time ( desperate that is) you want to find pleasantly hungry most of the time and then think what it is you really want to eat.

MillyRules · 01/11/2013 22:44

You can have Pepsi normal if you like. I don't think any diet food is encouraged on this woe Grin

FaithTheVampireSlayer · 01/11/2013 23:07

I now avoid diet drinks like the plague. The only thing I do still have is skimmed milk but because I prefer the taste.

I don't think I realised/remembered what true hunger was until I started BF! Never known hunger like it! That phase has passed now she's feeding less. I am pleased to say I've broken the biscuits with my cuppa first thing habit (I was eating them mindlessly). Hadn't weighed myself for a week but checked today and I've dropped 2lb. Feeling encouraged by that!

MillyRules · 02/11/2013 01:50

Awwww....well done Faith 2lbs is a brill. Hope your doing ok Grin

Jellybean456 · 02/11/2013 08:00

Thanks Milly and Faith

I actually don't like Pepsi normal, as am so used to diet drinks. I don't like the taste. But will only have them now and again. Also I've also always had sweeteners in my coffee. Should I give that up too? I have tried and don't like coffee without sugar.

I've weighed this morning and have lost another 2lb since yesterday. That's about 3lb loss since Monday. Really pleased as I had gained 5lb when I came of the VLCD.

It's now 8 am, and I'm trying to decide if I'm hungry or not. Well I think that I am still at stage 5- neutral on the scale. So having a normal coffee at the moment, and checking in every half hour or thereabouts till I feel the need to eat. Will need to distinguish between desperately hungry and pleasantly hungry I think.

Well done Faith on your 2lbs loss as well.

Jellybean456 · 02/11/2013 08:04

Ps Faith

You've helped me remember some hungry times I had.

I felt true hunger when pregnant with Little one. I used to carry around baby bel cheeses in my pocket to snack on when I had to attend meetings. I almost always had these hunger pangs at 10 ish in the mornings

ppeatfruit · 02/11/2013 09:59

Morning all Grin wrf to coffee DH thinks it's a meal so he'll not eat for ages after a coffee and can't lose weight at all (and he really needs to). IMO and E it is good if you don't have one or 2 or whatever every single day 'cos my body got used to it.Every week or so is miles better then it speeds up my metabolic rate efficiently.
Congrats to everyone who's losing brilliant to see some action on here!

Jellybean456 · 02/11/2013 10:46

Hi Pp

Think you're right about the coffee. I'll have to switch to tea. What does IMO and E mean please?

Just had one slice of buttered toast with peanut butter on it, as felt slightly hungry. Had a slight gnawing feeling in stomach, and did'nt want to get to ravenous stage.

Hopefully I won't be too full now for lunch. Usually have it about 1. Fancy a panini, chips, and glass red wine to finish off with.

MillyRules · 02/11/2013 10:57

Hi Jellybean.... yay on the weightless. I have coffee whenever I feel like it and I enjoy it. Instant or real and I put sugar in. Sweeteners are thought to be bad for us. I love cappuccino with caramel syrup in. Yum. If it fills me up then I just wait till I feel hungry again. No food or drink is bad, just enjoy. Your lunch sounds yummy!!!Grin

MillyRules · 02/11/2013 17:38

Apart from sweeteners that is.......they're evil!

veryberrybug · 02/11/2013 18:55

hi everyone & well done on your weightlosses !

viv i love your turn of phrase about "may have it now but choose to have it later" that really helps. & it tastes better later when i'm really hungry!

milly congrats on rebooting, hope it's still going well. i totally agree about the "starting a new diet" thought pattern of hopes-> quickly crashing into despair

billyjelly (Wink LOL at milly's wee dyslexic moment there, i did the same!) it's lovely to read your entries as it's reminding me of stuff which i've gotten used to. i too love diet coke & sweeteners in my tea, cany stand the sugary stuff, but i drink them (only occasionally) because i like the flavour better not because of the calorie count. sometimes i have fruit sugar in my tea (because sweeteners are supposed to be bad for you) it's sweeter than normal sugar.

earlier in the week i ate half my lunch & stopped to read something really interesting (because i couldny wait until i'd finished & didny want to miss out noticing my yummy sarnies because i'd read during eating) & then decided i'd had enough after a drink so put it back in the fridge. but then i was hungry an hour later so ate it then. seemed a bit pointless having waited because i then had to eat it with a half-fed baby hanging over my arm... but it still tasted good.

got my weigh & measure done & though weight static my body fat % gone down a wee bit & a wee quarter/half-inch off here & there Smile the best bit was when the curves staff member (who has experience & understanding WRT binge-eating) was saying "well done overcoming the bingeing" i replied that i hadn't had to do anything to "overcome" it, it just wasny there any more because i'm not dieting anymore! woohoo! what a lovely realisation! thanks Paul & you guys! Flowers

MillyRules · 02/11/2013 19:09

whose Billyjelly???? lol !!!Grin

veryberrybug · 02/11/2013 19:26

p.s. billyjean123/jellybean456 (does that answer your Q millyrules?!) i get heartburn only if i've overeaten - like there's just no enough room in my tum for the food so it bursts up. & if i'm no sure if i'm hungry, i gently poke just under my sternum, because that's where you feel real hunger. if you keep checking in to try & notice if you're hungry, the signal gets louder & clearer.

Jellybean456 · 02/11/2013 20:21

Thanks veryberrybug

Will try the poking the sternum when checking in for hunger. Well enjoyed my lunch today, and left my bread crusts and some chips, also half a glass of red wine, as just could'nt eat or drink anymore.

Ate at 7.30 pm tonight with a neutral hunger, and put everything I fancied on a plate. Very carby food though that I fancied. Seem to fancy bread all the time, and currently peanut butter. Also stuck 3 jammy dodgers on my plate and a couple of mini choc eggs. Felt like I'd had a mini feast, and really enjoyed it. Finished off with a Belgian options hot chocolate. Pleasantly full and satisfied.

Have downloaded the book 'beyond chocolate' to read, as recommended by someone.

Now do I change my name to 'Billyjelly', no sorry Veryberrybug but I prefer 'Jellybean'

veryberrybug · 02/11/2013 21:37

LOL i think jellybean is better too, i just like to mix my doofer with my shanker sometimes Hmm definitely getting into hot chocolate season here Grin i like the idea of leaving crusts as your leftover bit cos they're rubbish anyhoo. i love bread & sandwiches so much i struggle to leave any. the last few mornings i've had spelt toast with cashew nut butter, banana & a bit of chocolate spread - heavenly! & good fuel to cycle down the road, i never fancied my mid-morning snack until 11.30 those days! unfortunately tonight i overate though: DP gave me a mahoosive portion & i was somewhat distracted. but i've got the joy of heartburn now to remind me to notice what i'm doing next time! heheh i'll wash it down with gin Grin

Jellybean456 · 02/11/2013 22:34

Hi Veryberrybug

Have you got the hypno band? Just wondering about your heartburn? I only seemed to get the heartburn once I installed my hypno band.

Love your food choices, the bread, nut butter, banana etc. seem very much like mine.

The crusts bit is a good idea is'nt it? Can you believe that DH ate all my crusts of my plate whilst out. He always seems to finish off others leftovers once he has had his.

I started reading that book, and as I'm reading I'm noticing that I am already doing and practicing all the things already and naturally. Especially regarding the signs of knowing when you are hungry. Also picking up some good tips. Brilliant book so far. It goes hand in hand with this WOE.

Ps. Must get some chocolate spread tomorrow, and some more bananas. Also to add to my shopping list is a small tub of Ben and Kerry's cookie dough ice cream. A must have that I love, and haven't had since March. Think it's time now. Will eat these at my hungry times, as no foods are off limit. Yum yum xx

Jellybean456 · 02/11/2013 22:41

Ps. What i've learnt today: My hunger signals- gnawing stomach, and mouth salivating at the thought of food.

When I am satisfied, I do not have these signals. Thinking of food when I am full and satisfied does not make me salivate or really interest me.

MillyRules · 02/11/2013 23:43

Go Jellybean !!!

veryberrybug · 03/11/2013 00:05

hi jelly ooh interesting Wink that's really good you're picking up your own cues. go to the top of the class!

WRT heartburn: i've only had it in the last few weeks (before that it was during the overeating of the diet-binge era) & i'm wondering if it's a stress reaction as life has been full-on recently. i got the HGB book & CD in march & sadly i'm one of the few it's made bugger-all difference to sigh but the four rules have improved me mentals no end, i'm happy to be out of the diet prison (but wish i could lose a bit faster). i remember desperately scoffing kids leftover crusts Shock (especially fe cheese toasties) in diet times wouldny go back there for anything.

is the book you're reading the beyond chocolate one you'd mentionned or rereading the PMcK book?

ooh i couldny resist some cookie-dough ice-cream last weekend (foodshopping during school holidays with the kids... how could i say no?Grin!!) (N.B. still half-price in Sainsbo's yesterday) but OMG i sooo regretted it: i'm wheat intolerant so my poor DP deserved a medal for sharing a room uncomplainingly with me as i duvet-lifted!! my poor tummy. cany wait 'til a GF version of that comes out!

i have pretty much constant appetite due to the meds i'm on (right now i could go a bacon butty /roast dinner /curry /cake&cream etc etc, even despite the heartburn! so i have to rely on the hunger scale a bit more heavily. i remember when i was thin, before i was on these meds, that i just didny fancy anything unless i was actually hungry ! but at least Paul has given me tools to get past that...

FaithTheVampireSlayer · 03/11/2013 07:29

I'm wheat intolerant too very. I've found the stricter I am with a GF diet, the worse I am when I consume it. I do miss some things though but the variety of GF food being produced now is brilliant. I especially like Newburn bake house wraps.
