Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Up to individual members- I've said my weight but I understand if some people don't want to disclose!

My aim is a size 14. I haven't been that size for about 10 years.

IsaacCox I think I've told you this before, but I have PCOS too and losing weight definitely helped me fall pg with dd2. We'd been trying for over a year without any success because I wasn't even having periods, let alone ovulating and concieving. Then I started SW, lost 2 stone in 2 months (it's taking me rather longer than that this time round), started having periods and then fell pg really easily. I only started trying to lose weight because the GP said I couldn't go on the waiting list for the fertility clinic until I was a healthy weight, so I had to lose 3 st just to get on the waiting list, then keep it off for the 6 months before I would get an appt. I'm very glad that losing the weight was all I needed to do, I'm not sure how we would have coped with fertility clinics and treatments. I just wish I'd kept on eating healthily so I could have avoided putting on all this weight again (even after losing almost a stone I'm now the same weight as I was when I was told to lose weight last time) and I just might have avoided the mc I had last year.

Ive got three stine baby fat to lose. Getting v depressed about it and gave Big Event in nine weeks so i need to get shifting fast. My baby is five months and im at the stage where im overeating out of habit. Was once size 24 so know whats its like to lose control. Im scared of going up and up if i dobt do something.

On thr plus side, Ii lost seven stone in eight months so its torally doable for everyone here! I bought ready meals fir two weeks to train my stomsch down a bit, it really helped. After that i just avoided processed food

Oh dear, did I kill the thread?

I'm happy to post my weight now. I started at 15st 2.5, have now lost 10.5lbs so now weigh 14st 6, I'm 5'9 so that makes my bmi now 29.8. I've just crossed that line between obese and overweight so I'm thrilled and it's keeping me motivated.

I tried the 30 day shred but only managed 2.5 days before hurting my back, so I'm giving that a rest for now and might try again when I feel better. I have managed to take the dds swimming 3 days this week though, and seeing as dd1 is perfectly capable of looking after dd2 while I go for a bit of a swim I managed to swim 12 lengths (300m) today. I feel like that's pretty good considering I was out of breath after just 2 at the start of the holidays.

whitewine I can't find you on MFP? I need to add people as the shame of being a piggy in front of others will make me stick to a diet!

Awww thanks for the flowers henrietta. I have just signed up to slimming world online. It is expensive but i hope that keeps me motivated despite the fact I cant weigh in due to my leg cast. I know how much I weighed in kilos before the cast went on. Hoping to be no more when the cast comes of despite me not being able to get around.

Jumping in too, if that's ok!

I have suspected PCOS (never confirmed because I lost weight/got pregnant before the fertility clinic did any more tests). I lost over 3 stone low carbing to get pregnant with DS (17st10 to 14st 7), then put on 5st while pregnant Blush. DS is 11 months now and I've put more weight on since he was born.

I started on Sunday on a diet I remember my mum doing when I was younger - 2 bowls of cereal and 1 normal meal per day, with a starting weight of 17st2. I have 2 weeks until a big family event and I am crossing everything that this will get me into my (size 20 Sad) dress for it.

Ultimate goal is to get to 10st-ish. So about 7st to lose.

Summer, thank you, you have given me hope. I had one period when I was 13 then nothing for 2 years when I went for a scan and was diagnosed with PCOS. Only had the odd one since when I have been bothered to take the pill Blush. Im really hoping losing weight will start them off. I'm so sorry about your mc Flowers

Just did an hour and a half in the gym, shattered now! Not sure what's for dinner yet as I'm trying to empty the cupboards/fridge and freezer as they're jam packed with no room for anything else! So it'll be some concoction but a healthy one hopefully!

I a regular lurker on the weight loss threads. Decided to take the plunge and join in this time.

Bought new scales today and I'm 5lb heavier than I thought.

Need to lose at least 5 stone, ideally six.

Just off to join MFP

May I please join you? Like others have said it is very daunting to need to lose a lot (at least 5 st in my case) and it would be brilliant to share the journey with people in the same position. I have been overweight since puberty and obese all my adult life. My weight was fairly stable but after having my DC 10 months ago I have put on at least a stone, mostly due to 'consolation cake' (he is not a sleeper!)

I want to be fitter for him and hopefully to make it easier to conceive than it was last time. Also I'm getting married next year and I will be furious with myself if I waste the next 9 months and sail down the aisle at my current weight or worse (I will look like a sequin-covered barrage balloon).

Had high hopes for 5:2 but it seems to give me a catastrophic tummy so am looking for an alternative. Definitely need something with a bit of flexibility to eat nice stuff on social occasions.

Here's another one! Hello everyone!
Please count me in - around 14 and a half stone currently and really need to get a grip. First target is 2 stone off by Christmas - being realistic.
I reckon the moral support will be a great help to us all.
Good luck all- we know what to do really dont we- eat less and move more - it's the motivation that's lacking and hopefully its here Smile

This thread is perfectly timed for me! I have started the gym this week in an effort to lose around 7 stone. I was pretty much in denial about how much weight I had put on until i joined a new GP practice last week and had to have a routine check up. I weigh more than I did at 9 months pregnant. DD is 16months old now and I want to be around to see her grow up but more importantly I want to be able to catch her when she legs it which is all too often these days!
My gym has a creche so I have made a commitment to put DD in for 2 hours 4 times a week, and as she loves it that will be my motivation to actually go. Whilst I am there I might as well do a workout or go for a swim, at least thats the plan. I also walk to and from the gym which is 3 miles in total and on non-gym days I will take DD out for a walk in the buggy. Foodwise, I have tried every diet going and I am struggling a bit to get it under control so I am just cutting down portion size and since i discovered that eating bread makes me feel really tired I have found it quite easy to more or less cut it out completely.
It will be great to have some help and motivation along the way!

I'm off on Friday to do the 3 peaks challenge.... So need to take all food with me! Trying to keep it healthy.

If I weigh on weds I'm hoping for a loss as period will be over and I will have climbed Ben Nevis, scafell pike and snowdon by then.

But I'm not sure what food to take for energy!?? Everyone else is taking fruit and cereal bars and pre packed
Sandwiches!! Not low carb

Welcome newbies, feel free to join us, we can all keep each other motivated!

I'm just back from my brisk walk- OMG I knew I was unfit but I didn't realise just how unfit!! But hey, onwards and upwards, it's only going to get easier!

I think we had said on up the thread that weigh in would be a Wednesday- would you rather change it to a Monday? What suits everyone best? Smile

HSS - for the first day can you take chicken, boiled eggs, peanut butter and celery? Then maybe tins of tuna, boiled eggs, hard 'salad/veg' like radishes, carrots etc It's all heavy to carry I know, but just think of the added weight loss :)

You could also take some powder to add to water to make shakes?

I have been low carbing since the end of January, I've lost almost 3 stone. Many of their friends remain so I'll be low carbing for quite some time to come :)

I had a diabetes scare, my HbA1c reading was 9.3 (they wanted me on meds straight away) but it's now down to a normal 5.3 - diet changes only Grin

The Bootcamp threads are brilliant for support if anyone fancies it :)

Thanks chipping I'm a bootcamp lurker, occasionally post. Yes, those are good ideas, actually thinking that could work well! Peanut butter for energy especially.

Can you buy tins of tuna with a ring pull anyone know? Don't fancy carting a tin opener up Ben Nevis!

I've just calculated my BMI Blush

35.7

Yikes.

I need to lose 38 lbs just to drop into the overweight category.

And 65 lbs to get to the so called 'normal' category.

Might be easier just to chop a leg off Sad

Ah well, baby steps.

I've entered all my data onto MFP, and everything I've eaten & exercise so far today.

I think I have about 3 calories left for supper!

But at least I'm focussing on it.

Thanks Henrietta for starting this thread Thanks

HSS - I think I've seen sachets of no-drain tuna in Tesco. They would be perfect. And some oatcakes if you need a carb hit? And some nuts. Beef jerky if you can stand it (bleugh)

HeySoulSister · 07/08/2013 18:51

Never tried it! Sachets! Didn't know you could get sachets. I will tell the rest of the group that they exist! Thankyou
