Make me shred

The table is pulled out of the way. The jingly music is playing. Jillian is grinning at me and waiting to introduce me to her "two best girls helping us out". But I cannot bring myself to press play.
I did so well last week, a full week of shredding and watching what I eat. This week, Mr Motivation has left the building. I've already hada a square of chocolate.

Frances I know it'll probably fade but I find it hard to look at the scar as it reminds me of the tough birth (placental abruption, crash section, 5 days in hospital). Had a NVD with DD so was expecting the same. Plus it's a little bit of vanity Grin. It seems a shame to have a toned stomach and then feel self conscious in a bikini because of my scar! I'm sure I'll get over it!

IcedCoffeeQueen · 09/08/2013 21:56

I have definitely done some damage, foot started hurting again tonight after a wander around shops, top of foot, ankle and spreading right up my shin, I cant tilt my foot upwards at all :( really hope this doesn't set me back to much!

sorry to hear you had such a tough birth sneezy, im sure the scar will fade well though, dh had a horrific scar after an operation, raised red and bumpy but over the last 2 years it settled very well and barely noticeable now.

RippingYarns · 09/08/2013 22:01

Ice, Get some ice/frozen Veg on that ankle and maybe an elastic support sock to wear while you're exercising but even for walking until it's recovered.

And no shredding until it's moving properly again

wallpaperaddict · 09/08/2013 22:51

Just catching up with the thread and had to say sneezy you are amazing! Shredding 16 wks after a birth like that! Good on you. And your scar will fade for sure, it just takes time. Don't be self conscience in your bikini-rock that bikini!

iced sounds like your foot needs a break. A couple of days rest is called for I think. As ripping says, ice. It'll get any swelling down. We'll be here still when your fit again! Hope it feels better soon.

bionic77 · 09/08/2013 23:53

I'm having a day off too, although it is almost Saturday now. I had a 4 hour drive north which took 5 with stopping to feed DS and then stopping as DH was hungry! Now we are here and I've just finished all the little jobs I had to do and get DS to bed there were just not enough hours in Friday to fit it all in. Never mind back on it tomorrow with a vengeance!

Well done Sneezy on the weight loss and doing the Shred after that birth, it's not great when you expect everything to go normally and it doesn't - my DH said it was the most barbaric thing he'd ever been through and he doesn't know if he could go through it again ha ha try being the one doing it!! It was worth it in the end - try thinking of your scar as a war wound worn with pride!

Well done shreddies see you tomorrow.

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 10/08/2013 06:19

SOrry to hear about your tough birth sneezy :(
Iced, hope the foot is feeling better soon
Probable day off for me...maybe. See how I feel in half an hour or so

Morning everyone, is nobody shredding today?! I've just completed day 10 of L1! Yay! Pushed myself really hard today in readiness for L2. Worn out now!

iced how that foot of yours today?

RippingYarns · 10/08/2013 12:11

Afternoon all

L1D10 complete

Going out to get heavier weights for L2 - bring it on!

Ice, hope you're resting and sneezy, take is easy on yourself - you're fabulous :)

You moving up to 2 tomorrow, wallpaper?

TwentyTinyToes · 10/08/2013 12:12

Day 5 completed! Was definitely easier although still tough obviously. Cannot do the press ups still, even the modified version. Think my stomach looks a bit slimmer, or it might just be i think it does because i have been exercising but either way i am happy.

Well done wallpaper, good luck with L2! I haven't even dared look yet.

Sneezy sorry to hear you had a tough birth, sounds difficult, am sure your scar will fade over time, along with the memories.

Iced how is your foot? Hope it is feeling better.

TwentyTinyToes · 10/08/2013 12:13

Go Ripping Grin

wallpaperaddict · 10/08/2013 13:57

Hi ripping! Yes I am moving up to level two tomorrow! I am slightly scared, I'm going to watch it later when DC are in bed and prepare myself! Well done on completing L1!

twenty thanks for the good luck wishes! Now that you've got to day 5 you'll start to find it easier, I know I did!

I am pleased as I managed to do all proper press ups today-DH was watching and was amazed! I took photos of myself at the start so today took another set for end of L1. I am astounded at the difference! Much less lumpy and bumpy, I even have some definition on my stomach. Sadly though where my tummy is sort of pulling up and in I now have really unsightly stretch marks. Sad I had 2 really big babies so my tummy was stretched to the extreme. Up until now they were tucked under my little pouch bit! On the positive at least it's showing that the workout is having the desired effect! I look forward to taking more pictures in 10 days after completing level 2!

RippingYarns · 10/08/2013 14:02

Wallpaper, I too had large babies, two over 9lb so also sport what used to be called a widows apron at home refer to as my pouch - like a kangaroo!

There is lots of core work in L2, you're bound to see a difference again very soon.

Snap ripping! Both mine were over 9lb and I call it my "pouch"! Looking forward to the core work then, not Wink

IcedCoffeeQueen · 10/08/2013 20:29

hello everyone, disappointed im not shredding today, foot is still sore, its ok to walk around on now but still sore to flex my foot up or downwards and if I put pressure on the top. Been out since early today, not long home, diet not been good had a cake and a bar of choc plus a dinner of sausage and chips! feeling bloated and guilty now, really need to get back to it soon as possible.

SneezySnatcher · 11/08/2013 07:11

Good luck to those of you starting L2 today!

I did day 3 of level 2 yesterday. It seems to be getting easier and I didn't feel the need to vomit! I find it much harder than L1 though, especially the chair squats with V raises!! Shock

Won't be shredding tonight as I'm alternating with C25K and tonight is a 5k run, but back at it tomorrow!

Thank you for your kind words about my scar/birth. Surprisingly I've found it much easier to recover from this birth/pregnancy than DD's straightforward birth. I think I was so determined to put it behind me it has given me the motivation to get back to normal physically as quickly as possible. I wore a pair of jeans yesterday that I bought when I was 19 and at uni. DH is impressed with my thriftiness Grin.

RippingYarns · 11/08/2013 07:57

Morning, shreddies!

I'm really scared of moving up, maybe I'll stay on L1 but use the heavier weights all the way through?

wallpaperaddict · 11/08/2013 09:31

Morning!
ripping you can do it! We've come this far!

I've decided that I'm going to try L2, if it really is too much, I'll go back for a few more days of L1 then try again.

RippingYarns · 11/08/2013 10:13

So I phoned it in :(

The muscles up one side of my throat started to ping when I did the backwards arm warm up :(

RippingYarns · 11/08/2013 10:14

But did D11L1 but with 1.5kg weights all the way through :-D

wallpaperaddict · 11/08/2013 11:13

Oh my goodness. I did it. Yay! But it was hard work and I had to stop to take my asthma meds but I carried on and finished it. Don't think I've ever been so hot in my life!

ripping good on you for giving it a shot, no harm in upping the game on L1 before moving on! Just because its called 30 day shred doesn't mean it can't be 6 week/3 month/whatever shred! You're still exercising and that's the important bit!

RippingYarns · 11/08/2013 11:22

Fantastic! Wallpaper, you're flying!

I'm going to do this same level all week and start L2 next Monday, I can have the 37 day shred :-D

wallpaperaddict · 11/08/2013 11:41

37 day shred sounds good! See you here tomorrow then! Wink

MrsMcGregor · 11/08/2013 14:20

Well done Wallpaper.

Iced - how is your foot today? Hope it's feeling better.

Sneezy - 16 weeks post birth? I take my hat off to you!

Well, I didn't have time to exercise yesterday morning and felt really ill after lunch so had a nice snooze instead Grin! However, Day 6, Level 1 completed today.

Someone unthread mentioned doing 30 of the half press-ups? O.M.G. I manage 15 first time around and 10 second time before I give up!

wallpaperaddict · 11/08/2013 14:59

Thanks mrs! Well done on day 6!

I've caught some sort of exercise bug-just back from a cycle ride with my toddler in a bike trailer behind me!

iced how is your foot today?
