Make me shred

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 01/08/2013 07:53

The table is pulled out of the way. The jingly music is playing. Jillian is grinning at me and waiting to introduce me to her "two best girls helping us out". But I cannot bring myself to press play.
I did so well last week, a full week of shredding and watching what I eat. This week, Mr Motivation has left the building. I've already hada a square of chocolate.

Ooh we are on the same day, now then the race is on ripping! well actually shall we stagger to the finish line holding each other up?!

Are you still on for starting c25k on mon?

Does anyone else find it hard to shred after they've eaten? Now that we are back to school I'm shredding once DC in bed, but it's hard after having dinner. I tried to have a light dinner today, sweet potato felafel, salad and a bit of naan, but it was still soooo hard!

SPBisResisting · 05/09/2013 06:38

wallpaper you are so close!! Doing so well. I have to shred first thing in the morning, otherwise it simply won't get done.
I started level 2 today. Going to do that for the rest of the month. I am so uncoordinated though, the skaters etc I find really complicated. I seem to remember preferring L3.

wallpaperaddict · 05/09/2013 07:34

spb the first time I saw the skaters I stood for a few seconds looking like this Confused saying what?what?!
I found if I over think I can't do them but if I just kind of go with it, it's ok! Good luck with L2!

TwentyTinyToes · 05/09/2013 07:51

Phew... Level 2 day 4 done. Getting easier i think. Good luck shreddies!

MrsMcGregor · 05/09/2013 10:08

Morning everyone! You've all done so much whilst I have been skiving! I can't believe how many are finished or nearing completion - and Ripped, from Shred to a race! Wow!

I've just done Day 8 of Level 2. I've got Jillian back rather than doing it from memory so much better but boy, did I feel it! For one reason or another I've been doing alternate days this week and it's really not the way to do it - well, not for me anyway. Will try to Shred tomorrow morning. I had grand ideas of getting up before the children on school mornings but I am not a 6.15am riser, particularly if it has been a bad night so am trying to find a time after I drop everyone off but then it clashes with housework, dinner prep and other daily bits and bobs .... which I'd better get to now!

Happy shredding ladies!

BinksToEnlightenment · 05/09/2013 10:24

Well done to everybody, especially those on level two. I think level two is the toughest. Level three is more intense, but you've got much more groundwork to back it up with. Level two is all about pushing through the pain!

I'm on level three day five. I had a rest day yesterday. Well, I call it a rest. It was more like a double shift at work so I had no time.

I can't believe I've made it to the twenty fifth day. I look so different! I can really see the effect now. I've stopped hiding my tummy in baggy jumpers. I actually weigh more than when I started. I've put on five pounds. But my body fat is lower and I've lost inches off my thighs and waist.

BinksToEnlightenment · 05/09/2013 10:25

Oh and The Suffering! Wow! The clue really is in the name, huh!

RippingYarns · 05/09/2013 11:37

L3D7 done!

jumping lunges are getting easier, thanks for spurring me on to do those

yes, wallpaper and anyone else, c25k starts monday, does anyone want to start a new thread for that one?

VisualiseAHorse · 05/09/2013 14:38

Yay, level 1 day 3 done! Pretty good, considering I only had 3 hours sleep last night. I think we've got a teething baby over here.

The front of my thighs are still REALLY sore. Really sore. As in, I'm glad we don't have stairs in our house.

IcedCoffeeQueen · 05/09/2013 14:43

Day 29 done! couldn't face doing level 3 again im so bored of it and the rockstars are killing my ankles so done level 2 with steps cardio afterwards. I can follow Natalie all through level 2 now except the last round of v raises which clearly require bionic arms! cant believe when I started level 2 I couldn't do any plank squats or jacks now I do them with ease Grin

MrsMcGregor · 05/09/2013 14:46

Ooh made a big mistake at lunchtime. I watched the first 6 mins of L3 on UTube! Ladies! You didn't tell us that the warmup is mostly cardio - ugh. And as for the strength in circuit 1? Yikes! Those bends where you lie on your tummy won't work for me - I am the least flexible person you have ever met! Tell me it's not all bad Grin!

RippingYarns · 05/09/2013 14:50

the warm up on L3 is brilliant, it really feels like a warm-up, butt kicks are easy now Wink

supermans? piece of piss mate, piece of piss. (DD does a fantastic impression of the 'fish without water' she calls them Blush

Iced you are indeed a machine!

Visualise, maybe a bit more stretching during the cooldown will help, or a bath rather than a shower?

IcedCoffeeQueen · 05/09/2013 15:23

lol thanks cant believe how quickly my fitness is improving Im actually excited about researching new fitness dvds!

level 3 isn't too bad I actually find level 2 a lot more tiring cardio wise, the supermans are not to hard although hurt my erm pubic bone I think they work your core which must work as I can plank now and couldn't before, my 7 year old cant do any he just wriggles around like a fish out of water lol. I find the only difficult part of L3 is the rockstar jumps at the end

wallpaperaddict · 05/09/2013 16:40

Hello everyone! I agree with ripping that cardio warm up in L3 is really good and supermans are sooooo easy!
I'm just getting ready to do L3D7, random time of day but I want to get it in before eating!
visualise I remember that thigh pain! It passes! Boy were stairs a killer back in the early days!
ripping do you want to start a c25k thread or shall I?!

BinksToEnlightenment · 05/09/2013 18:09

IcedCoffeeQueen - Those V raises with the squat! They are the worst torture out of the whole of the shred, IMO.

BinksToEnlightenment · 05/09/2013 18:12

I'll join the C25K thread if someone starts it. I'm quitting smoking especially.

RippingYarns · 05/09/2013 20:04

where should the new thread go? in exercise perhaps rather than weight loss?

wallpaperaddict · 05/09/2013 20:47

Hi ripping! I agree the new thread should go in exercise rather than weight loss. I'm looking forward to getting started with running!
binks good on you for quitting smoking!

VisualiseAHorse · 05/09/2013 23:40

Just wondering if others here are dieting too? Or just eating more sensibly?

BinksToEnlightenment · 06/09/2013 06:18

VisualiseAHorse - I am dieting, but not intensively. So I have to eat sensibly for every meal (and not snack and not eat because I'm bored) but I'm allowed to swap a meal for something delicious if I really feel passionately about it. I try to do a slightly different diet every week though, so it doesn't get tedious and make me want rubbish.

BinksToEnlightenment · 06/09/2013 06:19

VisualiseAHorse - Are you following one? What's the diet, if you are?

RippingYarns · 06/09/2013 10:18

That was tough going today, felt more like D1 than D8, I was up half the night though, think I may have recruited some more shreddies from the Night Owl Parliament :-D

Just off to shower then shall I start a new thread for the fools runners?

Will link it here and on the september shred thread

MrsMcGregor · 06/09/2013 10:25

Morning Shreddies

I've just completed Day 9 of Level 2. Sore legs and buttocks last night after the two day break.

Binks, how right you are about the v raises with a squat. They are so so difficult. I moved up to 2kg weights today for the last strength circuit (have been using 1.5kg for that and 2kg for the rest to date) and I couldn't manage the last set of v raises. Well, I sort of did the raises but dropped the squat Blush. Undecided about whether to move to L3 after D10 or to do a few more days like I did with L1.

Most surprisingly, I find myself joining those who are planning life after the Shred! Thinking about Ripped - is it a 5/7 day a week job or can you do less? Would love to run but I am not a runner and would have to drive to DM's house and do it there to have footpath access. Plenty of time to decide.

Iced please do not say the supermans are easy or you'll really put me to shame! My 12 yr old tried them last night and failed but you should have seen him do the plank push up exercise before them. He flew from one arm to another at speed !

RippingYarns · 06/09/2013 10:52

i went over to 'exercise' and found this, so no need for us to start a new thread for c25k

IcedCoffeeQueen · 06/09/2013 11:00

MrsMcGregor - I find those walking plank things before it really hard although its improved towards the end I cant seem to breath through them though which makes my head want to explode
