Make me shred

The table is pulled out of the way. The jingly music is playing. Jillian is grinning at me and waiting to introduce me to her "two best girls helping us out". But I cannot bring myself to press play.
I did so well last week, a full week of shredding and watching what I eat. This week, Mr Motivation has left the building. I've already hada a square of chocolate.

Oh, forgot to say I used the 2kg weights for the strength exercises in the first two circuits - boy, could I feel the burn! Back to 1.5kg for the v raises though!!

lifesgreatquestions · 31/08/2013 11:42

Thanks guys! And Iced, you're quite right, I have turned my disappointment around this morning

Glen, it's tough when you don't feel like it. If you have the time and things like children and other commitments aren't really getting in the way then maybe it would help the notion of just doing it anyway, regardless of whether you want to or not? We have to do lots of things we don't want to do, when motivation is lacking I approach this as just another one of those things, reminding myself it's only 20 minutes and I'll be glad I did, etc. Hope it picks up for you soon.

MrsM, have you googled for suggestions? I don't know anything about that but I can sympathise with your frustration. How wonderful that you're getting so many other positive signs!

Now, today is day1 for me again! I woke up in a fuck-it mode and decided that I was glad about what I'd achieved so I'm carrying on and stepping it up. I watched all three levels, made a list of all the moves, googled for added hip and but reducing exercises and added them to my list, made a music compilation and set off. I can see that I have a long way to go to perfecting the moves to the easier standard let alone the tougher level so I'm just going to see what I can achieve over another 30 day spread! May I continue to hang out here even if I'm doing my own version of a shred? I do find it motivating hearing about others successes and struggles.

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 11:50

Just checking in before today's session

My tummy hurts, maybe there are some muscles under there after all ;)

BinksToEnlightenment · 31/08/2013 12:28

I kept my ankle elevated all night and did my missing level two day ten. So tomorrow I'll be on level three day two. Jillian Michaels'll make you jump jump!

I am struggling a bit though. I'm keeping up, but the injuries are making it much more mentally challenging to convince myself to go on.

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 12:57

Binks, you really should let that ankle heal before pushing it any further. You are at risk of further injury as you try not to hurt ones you already have. You could be jarring your back/neck :(

A couple of days serious rest will do you no harm, but pushing on might do

BinksToEnlightenment · 31/08/2013 13:11

Thank you, RippingYarns. It's really sweet of you to be so concerned. It's not hurting anymore and the swelling has gone down. I think it was my old rubbish trainers with the level three jumps that made it go bad. I more meant, I've had a series of parts of me that have hurt. Before I started on this thread it was my other ankle, then my knee, then my back and now the other ankle. I'm getting through them, but I wish I could stop hurting things. Hopefully the new trainers will make a big difference. I'm really silly for carrying on so long without getting some.

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 13:42

Aw bless you, that's tough to deal with - agree new shoes should help a lot.

I'm shocked how many people try to do this in bare feet - it's really high impact I don't know how they manage

SPBisResisting · 31/08/2013 13:45

Hi everyone
Erm I'm knda back
Thanks to Ripping for attempting to do what the title says :o
I didn't shred this morning but I did yesterday back to Thursday and plan to get back on it tomorrow and next week too. Problem is it means getting up at 6. On Tuesdays I get up at 5 but the other days 6 just seems so EARLY. But I must. I must.
Will try to catch up soon :)

IcedCoffeeQueen · 31/08/2013 14:11

shredded today, taking tomorrow off then will do mon-fri and that will be me finished yay

Then onto ripped in 30...

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 14:17

Oh, SPB, you've missed so much

We've had completions, injuries, hangings, people go join the marines, births, returners, proposals of marriage (to JM of course)*

Good to see you back that's not the beginning of an excuse about the time is it?

*some of that may not be true

wallpaperaddict · 31/08/2013 17:00

Hello everyone!

spb nice to see you back here!

life glad you are not still disappointed! Stay hanging out with us, love to hear how you're getting on with your lifesgreatquestions bespoke shred!

binks hope new trainers are the answer to all your knee/ankle probs!

mrsmc is the problem with your tummy muscles called diastasis recti? I seem to remember reading about this and it saying that certain exercises can make it worse.

ripping how did you find shredding today? I've just done level 3 day 4, really enjoying it! My DH took the DC out this afternoon and instead of MNing, drinking tea and eating biscuits I thought I'd shred! iced if I shred every day now you and I will both finish on Friday I think! Grin

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 17:22

Hi wallpaper

I love level 3 :-D

And just been out to buy kit to run in :-O

Am planning 6week 6pack for a week on monday, along with c25k - normally I would bake when I have free time.

Not anymore ;)

wallpaperaddict · 31/08/2013 18:00

Good on you ripping! I'll join you on c25k if you need a virtual buddy? I got upto wk 5 before the school holidays. I could finish the shred next week and join you from the week after?! I did have a RL running buddy but I think she lost interest!

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 18:15

It's a deal

DH has been running and has signed up for one of those mad obstacle endurance things in november now, I have no idea what's in the water round here but it's working

BinksToEnlightenment · 31/08/2013 20:04

I was considering doing C25K after this too. I'm a bit freaked out by it though. I'm a shit runner. The shitest. I used to come last so many times during school sports day that I've even got a picture of me at age ten storming off halfway through a race.

These trainers are brilliant though. I've been wearing them all day. They're so bouncy! I've never even tried on a pair of real running trainers before.

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 20:07

i've never run in my life before!

coming with us, binks?

BinksToEnlightenment · 31/08/2013 20:16

I've got nine more days of the shred... And then I think I might! Has anyone already got the app? There are tons on Google Play!

wallpaperaddict · 31/08/2013 20:30

binks what trainers have you got? I need new ones. C25k is a brill programme. I couldn't run at all before, I was so scared I'd end up being picked up off the road by paramedics! In reality it's really achievable! I've never downloaded the app as I don't like running in headphones so can't help there!

IcedCoffeeQueen · 31/08/2013 20:30

will anyone be going on to ripped or will I be all alone?.......

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 20:32

yup, DH has got it on an MP3 thingy (dead technical me) and i've got 8 days on L3 to go, so a week on monday i'm good to move on

wallpaperaddict · 31/08/2013 20:50

iced do you have to do ripped everyday like the shred? I don't mind running 3 times a week and doing something on the other days!

IcedCoffeeQueen · 01/09/2013 09:25

It says on the dvd to do it 5-6 days a week but always 1 rest day, im going to do it mon-sat with sunday off, there is 4 different weeks to work through, cant wait to start, love shred but starting level 3 early has made it get a bit tedious now

RippingYarns · 01/09/2013 10:16

Oh yes, L3D3 in the bag - I can't do the jump lunges to save my life - keep falling over

MrsMcGregor · 01/09/2013 10:26

Well done you Level 3ers. Ripped sounds like hard work. How long is each session? I love that the Shred can be done in less than half an hour.

Disaster here this morning. Level 2 seems to have disappeared off UTube. So I went hunting for my DVD ... nowhere to be found. Started to download L2 from iTunes but it was taking so long that I got the stopwatch on my mobile and fired ahead from memory. I did miss Jillian's encouragement but the stopwatch acted as a good incentive - just a few more seconds on everything. Back to normal tomorrow except OMG school bus run at 7.45 which means I'll have to try to get up at 6.30am to leave time for it and a shower - eek.

BinksToEnlightenment · 01/09/2013 11:18

Level three day two done. Ouch! It's much easier on the cardio - or I've got good enough to do two minutes without too much huffing. But it's murder on my thighs.

And I totally agree about the jump lunges? What crazy bastard invented those??
