Make me shred

The table is pulled out of the way. The jingly music is playing. Jillian is grinning at me and waiting to introduce me to her "two best girls helping us out". But I cannot bring myself to press play.
I did so well last week, a full week of shredding and watching what I eat. This week, Mr Motivation has left the building. I've already hada a square of chocolate.

Hello, may I join in?

Have done level 2 day 1 today, oh my word, that hurt! I thought I was getting fitter with level 1 and then she goes and throws level 2 at me! Have really seen the difference in the inches I've lost, have dropped a dress size (16-14) but I've only lost 1lb. Can't wait to see what happens at the end of the 30 days. Already trying to decide what to do once I've finished this!

BinksToEnlightenment · 29/08/2013 10:50

Thanks everybody

HelloDoris - Hello! Welcome to the club!

MrsMcGregor - You'll feel better for the rest. You'll be fighting fit by Saturday, I bet.

BalloonSlayer · 29/08/2013 10:52

welcome Doris!

Level 1 Day 9 done

Can't wait to do my day 10 and then move on - soooo bored with L1

RippingYarns · 29/08/2013 10:54

Doris, that's fantastic, welcome and well done.

I've just finished L2 - feeling very happy with myself :-D

IcedCoffeeQueen · 29/08/2013 11:35

just ate a cinnamon pastry I think I need to shred to burn it off....

wallpaperaddict · 29/08/2013 13:14

Good on everyone who's shredded already today!

mrsmc enjoy your rest, see you Saturday!

ripping well done on completing level 2! Bet you feel great!

hellodoris hi and welcome!

I feel really unwell today, I've got a nasty virusy thing I think. Headache, sore throat, general lethargy. I will try to shred this evening. I've missed it. iced I am so jealous of your cinnamon pastry, they are my favourite and I could well do with one right about now!!!!

IcedCoffeeQueen · 29/08/2013 20:43

They are my favourite too went down were well with a coffee! I done shred level 3 and ripped in 30 level 1 so hopefully redeemed myself for it

plusonemore · 30/08/2013 00:01

grrrrrrrrr haven't done the shred for nearly a week now!! was away for weekend then been super busy. Feeling really bloated and annoyed Sad will work extra hard tomorrow

plusonemore · 30/08/2013 00:02

but forgot to say well done everyone who's keeping going, you're keeping me going!

phantomhairpuller · 30/08/2013 08:50

Day 2 level 2 done. And for some insane idea I did gorilla workout 6 on top! Confused

RippingYarns · 30/08/2013 09:12

I wasn't in the mood for it today then read Trucks' post on NoelHeadbands's thread and it's really inspired me

I've not noticed any change in my size at all, despite 25 days work and I was really down-hearted so maybe I need to be more honest about how unfit and fat I really am?

I could sit and wallow, get the biscuits out and think 'fuck it' - I'm fat and I wasn't this depressed about it before I started this, but I won't.

I'm going to do L3 today and even if I stay the same size I'll be better inside.

Won't I?

wallpaperaddict · 30/08/2013 11:11

ripping my lovely, don't be down hearted. You are totally right that even if your shape doesn't change and your weight doesn't decrease, your whole cardiovascular system is getting a fantastic workout which is strengthening everything! Do Level 3 and know that change is happening, you might not be able to see it yet but it's happening!

Well I've finally got back to it, level 3 day 3 done! I feel so much better for doing it! After nearly a week away I could've quietly slipped off and left you guys to it but I didn't want to give up really! Eventhough I've only lost the sum total of 3lbs, I feel so much fitter and energetic!

Good luck to everyone shredding today!

RippingYarns · 30/08/2013 11:52

that's so lovely of you, wallpaper. Thank you

I'm really hormonal right now, I cried at a thread about a dead hamster ffs, but did the shred and actually enjoyed it :-O

It's been a long school holiday, I'm mentally stale, so bad thoughts are creeping in.

I feel better for having done D1 - and thank you again

wallpaperaddict · 30/08/2013 12:08

No need for the thanks, that's why we are all here-to keep one another going!

BalloonSlayer · 30/08/2013 13:36

< manly slap on the back for Ripping >

I haven't lost a pound on the Shred, and I didn't when I did it before either. But I know I am toning up and getting stronger You wouldn't believe how weedy I am - when I started again this time I had to go back to using tins of beans because I couldn't cope with my 1.5 kilo weights! And I have now got some 1 kilo ones because some exercises are harder than others. I will never be able to use 3kg weights like some people. But you know what - I don't care! Because I am doing something to increase my fitness.

I am chuffed because in the last couple of days I started to be able to feel that feeling like there is a thick rubber band across my lower stomach; it means I am starting to have muscles there again. It doesn't LOOK like anything, but I am proud of myself.

And you should be too, Ripping.

Level 1 Day 10 done. Woo hoo - Level 2 here I come.

wallpaperaddict · 30/08/2013 14:50

balloonslayer well done on completing L1! Good luck for starting L2!

BinksToEnlightenment · 30/08/2013 15:22

I have actually put on weight while doing the shred, but I know that I look more toned and I feel much better in myself.

It's not all about the number on the scales.

But I know what you mean - it would be lovely to see the number drop.

lifesgreatquestions · 30/08/2013 16:30

Quick post. I have completed the 30 day shred! Yay!

However Sad, I've taken measurements and they are disappointing, although my posture has improved and I'm now 5'7" again, most measurements show no change. I did lose 1 1/2 inches off my waist (as measured at belly button) and I lost two inches off each thigh. I have not lost any weight. That's really disappointing. I didn't diet but my natural diet is quite healthy. I think I'm going to keep this up for another 30 days, if I don't see an improvement in weight by then then... (I really don't want to starve myself!!!). I can say that I'm proud though - I feel really strong and I've proven to myself that I can exercise daily.

Sorry to post and run without reading but am in a rush! (going to copy this on to other thread so apologies for anyone else on both!)

HelloDoris · 30/08/2013 19:33

No shred from me today, baby was up half the night, toddler woke with a very odd rash and was not quite right and I felt like I'd slept on my neck all night. Out tonight to a party so
Doubtful shred will happen on the morning... Shall have to try tomorrow night!

wallpaperaddict · 30/08/2013 19:51

life that's brilliant! Well done on completing the 30 day shred!!!

glenthebattleostrich · 30/08/2013 19:54

Well done life.

I appear to have lost the will to shred :( I haven't done it since Monday, it was my birthday on Tuesday and have just not managed to get into it or find time since. I am out all day tomorrow so will be restarting on Sunday afternoon. I will be doing level 1 and 2 to make up a bit.

Then back to doing it daily for the rest of the week.

IcedCoffeeQueen · 30/08/2013 20:24

Lifesgreatquestions - don't be disappointed, your losing inches! ignore the scales your doing great! also you may not lose inches for a bit but toning will still happen, I've taken pics of day 1, day 9, day 15 and day 21 since the start I've lost an inch off waist, hips, thighs and butt but I've not lost any inches or seen any change in the tape measure since day 15 and im now on day 24 HOWEVER comparing the day 15 and the day 21 pictures there is a definite and the most obvious difference so far, I can see more definition and look leaner even though I measure the same - so nobody give up!

Anyway today I shredded day 24 with a little steps cardio thrown in on top, im pretty proud of myself as I only had 3 hours sleep last night!

BinksToEnlightenment · 30/08/2013 21:25

I am having to take some time out. My ankle is swelled up. Rubbish! It's time I got some decent trainers, instead of my knackered old Converse.

I'll be back! I promise.

MrsMcGregor · 30/08/2013 22:00

Evening all!

Ripping, don't worry about the weight. I haven't lost an ounce but like some else said, I do know I'm tonng up and that my cardio fitness is improving. The latter being proved as I ran round a field like a lunatic chasing sheep and wasn't standing doubled over gasping for breath like I would usually be. Also, muscle is heavier than fat Grin.

Glad you're back Wallpaper and hope injuries are holding up.

Balloon, so pleased I'm not the only person using lighter weights for some exercises. In L1 I was using 1/1.5kg. Now in L2, I'm forcing myself to use the 1.5kg weights and ordered a set of 2kg weights from Amazon which arrived today. They feel rather heavy Hmm.

Lifes, in the absence of a champagne emoticon, here's a much deserved Wine. So you should be proud of yourself - there is no way I could manage 30 days on the trot. How are you going to do the next 30 days - back to L1 etc or will you jumble it up a bit?

Doris - welcome! Hope you get a better night tonight.

Glen I've missed the last two days and will have to force myself to do it tomorrow. Just going to try and convince myself that it's fun and I'm enjoying it Wink

Iced, well done with day 24, especially on 3 hrs sleep. I've had three consecutive badly disturbed nights with little sleep and couldn't have managed a single jumping jack today.

Binks, no, not another injury. Hope your ankle settles down - are you trainer shopping? I go through phases of wanting to update my 15 year old (yes, you read that right, 15!) trainers but there's life in the old dears yet. It says much about how much exercise I do! Mind, I've walked the dogs miles and miles in them.

Right, two days off so back to it tomorrow. Trying for day 5 of level 2. Wish me luck. Have a very sore heel which feels very bruised and I've been hobbling all day. Nothing to do with the Shred, I think, more the long day I spent standing barefoot baking yesterday.

MrsMcGregor · 31/08/2013 11:31

Day 5 Level 2 done. I think it's my 19th day in total - amazed I'm still here!

Okay Shreddies, I have a problem. My Rectus Abdominus muscle split when I was pregnant last and has never closed. I have definitely lost some fat off my tummy (jeans have a bit more give Grin) but I'm not getting toned enough to pull it in. More definition, yes but I swell out from about a handspan under my ribs (moreso in the evenings when bloat sets in Blush) so I think it's the rectus muscle. What can I do, if anything? Everywhere else is toned, I'd love not to look like I have a bump come winter! It's getting me down.

Good luck today ladies - happy shredding!
