Make me shred

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 01/08/2013 07:53

The table is pulled out of the way. The jingly music is playing. Jillian is grinning at me and waiting to introduce me to her "two best girls helping us out". But I cannot bring myself to press play.
I did so well last week, a full week of shredding and watching what I eat. This week, Mr Motivation has left the building. I've already hada a square of chocolate.

You can get back to it binks I did after the weekend blow out wasn't easy though! come on find that motivation :)

BinksToEnlightenment · 27/08/2013 20:35

I did it! I really didn't want to, but I did it. The puking wasn't entirely in vain - I think I must have jolted my back into position. Hooray. Although now I have a messed up ankle. But I can live with that easier.

Day nine... Level two.... And I'm spent! Early night for me.

BinksToEnlightenment · 27/08/2013 20:36

Thanks IcedCoffeeQueen! It's much easier keeping up with this with all you guys to check in with.

wallpaperaddict · 27/08/2013 20:58

Well done binks!

IcedCoffeeQueen · 27/08/2013 21:20

Well done binks! wallpaper sorry forgot to answer you there, ripped in 30 is good, similar to shred with the 3,2,1 circuits but in each round you do a set of exercises then repeat them then next circuit and so on. She says you will never repeat the same exercises in a previous level when you move on there is 4 weeks altogether. Jillian is less friendly compared to shred and more bossy! she talks ALOT actually but its good I didn't find it hard going really but she says level 1 is about perfecting the moves before moving up. Moves in level 1 arnt to different to shred, butt kicks, press ups, sit ups, skaters, also squat and presses, planks, side planks etc
Im thinking of leaving it on the shelf until I finish shred plus my usual davina etc then start ripped properly

MrsMcGregor · 27/08/2013 22:39

Wow. Lots of shredding today! Iced if you can manage all that with little energy what are you like when you're bursting with energy?

L2 does go really quickly, Ripping - I think the exercises are much less monotonous.

Well done Binks, bet you feel better for doing it tonight. And Life you're nearly there! Only three days left. Have you had any breaks or have you been Jillian's 'best girl' and shredded every day?

Hi to everyone else. I'm going for a pre-breakfast workout again tomorrow as I have a busy-ish day and want to get peace to do it.

phantomhairpuller · 28/08/2013 08:20

Day 10, level 1 done. Definitely think i'll go to level 2 tomorrow.

Has anyone tried jillian's shed and shred? I've just seen it on eBay for 99p. It'd be rude to leave it there at that price, no?! Wink

MrsMcGregor · 28/08/2013 09:01

D4L2 done. Well, mostly done. I hurt myself doing the crunches where you hold the weights above your chest at the end of circuit 2. Continued and did just over half the strength in circuit 3 but called it a day at that point as I was sore. Feel guilty at skippjng the last cardio and abs. Hopefully just a twinged muscle - feels okay for now. Back to complete it properly tomorrow morning.

Well done Phantom

Good luck today Shreddies!

RippingYarns · 28/08/2013 09:02

A friend suggested shed and shred to me this week, it looks terrifying

A week on monday I shall be starting the C25k programme - I'll do it after taking DD to school and should have just about finished L3 by then

wallpaperaddict · 28/08/2013 09:35

Well done to those who have shredded already this morning!
ripping I was on week 5 of c25k but knew I'd not have the time or the energy to carry it on over the summer holidays. That's why I jumped into to shredding! I may well join you on c25k next Monday!

IcedCoffeeQueen · 28/08/2013 10:23

MrsMcGregor - honestly I had to will my body to move for every second my legs were almost giving out underneath me from the start but it did improve as I went on, I was struggling for breath during the warm up and almost wheezing I get like that sometimes I just force through it - will not be beaten!

wallpaperaddict · 28/08/2013 12:10

I am back in business! Bit sore and with specific instructions on what I can't do! Wink Hoping I feel upto it this evening but I'm not out to push my luck so if I'm still tender later I'll pick it back up tomorrow! Yay!!!!!

RippingYarns · 28/08/2013 12:53

Welcome back wallpaper!

I've just done today's work out and you know what, it was easy for me :-D

Or rather I managed all the moves and most being Natalie - I might even do L1 again tonight to keep the impetus up, one day left of L2 and I'm ready to move on.

I haven't measured myself at all and my waist is definitely the same size but it's much more firm and I have arm muscles like a boxer now - thank you again everyone for keeping me going.

lifesgreatquestions · 28/08/2013 18:56

Binks, how funny, hope you're feeling better!?

MrsM, that made me laugh, yes, I'm totally Jillian's best girl! I cannot believe I have done this daily for 28 days - I'd like to think I would continue with it but am anxious about keeping it up in the absence of a concept like "30 day shred". I have thought of compiling all the moves and doing it as a whole workout on my own to my own music rather than faffing about with the DVD, maybe that's my next stage.

Ripping and Phantom what's Jillian's shred and shred?

Well done to all the shredders and welcome back Wallpaper!!!

lifesgreatquestions · 28/08/2013 18:57

Ripping, arm muscles! Aren't they amazing? I just discovered these myself last night when I was putting my hair up in a pony tail in front of a mirror, I was [shocked] and shouting to my OH.

phantomhairpuller · 28/08/2013 18:57

Shed and shred is 2x 45 minute workouts, all similar to 30minute shred but more intense I believe. Maybe it's the next step?! Wink

TwentyTinyToes · 28/08/2013 20:03

I shredded earlier, day 14 level 1. One more day on level 1 then i will move up. Ready for a change.

Glad you are better wallpaper, take it easy. Great to read of all the progress, it is very motivating this thread so thank you.

RippingYarns · 28/08/2013 20:06

well done Twenty - you'll be shredded in no time Grin

IcedCoffeeQueen · 28/08/2013 20:17

I have to say I'm feeling newly re-motivated I had planned to take before and after pictures but I'm impatient so I have pics from day 1,10,15 and todays 22, what a difference! I've lost an inch from my upper natural waist and an inch from my muffin top bit, I can see the muscles in my upper abs and the two little lines going down from the bottom of my stomach cant wait to see day 30's! Grin

BinksToEnlightenment · 29/08/2013 07:51

So I didn't do day ten of level two yesterday. I just couldn't face it. So this morning, I did day one of level three. It was so refreshing! Hard, but so good to be doing some different exercises. And wow, they are really different, huh? Lot of jumping. I struggled the most with the lunge jumps.

I actually got a bit emotional when I'd finished and Jillian did her well done speech. I am really proud of myself for getting this far. Oof, I really have a little tear in my eye. How silly am I?

BalloonSlayer · 29/08/2013 08:10

Well done Binks - you see, alcohol IS the answer. Wink

RippingYarns · 29/08/2013 08:31

Well done, Binks! I cried at L3 when I got there first time too, it is a fantastic achievement.

One of which I shall be joining you tomorrow - last day on L2 for me :-D

phantomhairpuller · 29/08/2013 09:04

Good lord!! Day 1 level 2 done Grin

It's harder than I thought but so nice to change from level 1.

MrsMcGregor · 29/08/2013 09:45

Shreddies ..... I have failed. I didn't shred today and won't now. Have had a really bad couple of nights with children, dogs, burglar alarms going off. At 6am this morning, having been up since 4am, I decided to rest today. Feel guilty now but am woozy headed with tiredness. DS1 is back to a new school tomorrow so it's Saturday for me.

Binks - fantastic! Well done.
Wallpaper yay, you're back! Great but take it easy!
Lifes so you did do 28 consecutive days. Really impressed. Well done!

Everyone else - keep going. I really didn't think a Mumsnet thread would be such a great motivator but it is - thank you everyone.

RippingYarns · 29/08/2013 09:53

That's not failure MrsMc, it sounds as though you need it.

Enjoy your rest and we'll see you saturday. Good luck to DS and his new school too
