My hugely boring weight loss attempt

When I'm on a "fitness kick" I like to keep a record of what I've eaten/what exercise I've done in a day, and today I have just had a MASSIVE wake up call. I got my height and weight measured today, and at 5 feet 3 inches tall, I weight 9st 1lbs. I'm aware that this is a healthy BMI, but as an ex-ballet dancer and with a very small frame skeleton-wise, this neither looks nor feels right for me. And so, I will do something about it :)

My weight is nearly all in my bottom half, my calves, thighs and bottom are huge (admittedly a lot of it is atrophied muscle), whilst my top half is still quite little. Ideally, I'd love to lose about seven or eight pounds and just generally get toned up again-I miss being fit!! As of tomorrow, I'm going to make a note on here, hopefully every single day, as it gives me motivation not to have that extra biscuit or whatever if I know I have to write it down later. Anyone is more than welcome to join me, or indeed to ignore me :).

Hi, I like to be fit and record things too. Ex swimmer and bigger than you though. I didn't get my wake up call until I was 3 stone overweight though! I did Slimming World and Couch to 5k and losing it was easy enough once I'd got into it. I'm enjoying wearing summer clothes for the first time in 5 or 6 years without being fat or pregnant!

Good luck, looking forward to your posts.

LilithSternin · 05/06/2013 20:28

Thank you BikeRunSki :)

Today I had
Scrambled eggs for breakfast and orange juice
An apple at break time
Brown rice with peas and sweetcorn for lunch
Then a cheese omelette with loads of salad for tea
But we had been given a tub of those "mini-treats" at work and I caved and had a mini teacake thing...off to a good start!!

I'm shattered so going to have fifteen minutes on the exercise bike and stretch before having a very early night!!

Got half a stone to shift, can I join in too. Currently eating pizza and drinking cider. I do know where I am going wrong...

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw · 05/06/2013 20:36

I'll join you. Want to loose 1.5-2stone by christmas. I'm starting the 30 day squat and ab challenge in the morning.

Yearofme · 05/06/2013 20:41

Can I join in please? I'm 5'3 and 9st 8.

My goal weight is 8st 7.

I'm planning on doing the davina ultimate target DVD every other day and eating 3 healthy meals with no snacks and no sugary drinks (my major downfall).

I'm starting tomorrow and plan on weighing myself every Monday morning, ill post it on her to keep me motivated! Grin

Yearofme · 05/06/2013 20:42

Also glad I've found other people who like to write down what they've eaten to keep track! Everyone I know thinks this is weird, but it helps so much to keep you motivated!

LilithSternin · 05/06/2013 20:52

Yay-the numbers of people who like to keep track of where they are seems to be much greater than I thought!

Am eating some sweets now, Blush (last lot of bad food!) will check back in tomorrow evening with my exercise and eating for the day

LilithSternin · 06/06/2013 22:11

Hello Yearofme :)

Today I've had
Toast and yoghurt for breakfast
Grapes at breaktime
A cheese sandwich and an apple for lunch
"Healthy" chicken curry and brown rice
Pineapple jelly pot

I've also done thirty minutes on the bike and some nice stretches :) I need to start eating more fruit and veg, though, as looking as it written down it really brings it home...

Yearofme · 06/06/2013 22:27

Hiya,

I have eaten:
Scrambled eggs on toast
Cheese and ham toastie
Plain chicken breats with peas and sweet potato mash.

Walked for an hour for exercise.

I need more fruit and veg too!

Might do some squats before bed, but I'm having a shit day!
Haven't given into crap food though, even though I want to Smile

Soupa · 06/06/2013 23:12

Hmm I ate fruit and fibre and cold pizza for breakfast, hummous and crusty bread, a pack of tomatoes for lunch, some prunes, two bananas, more pizza (homemade) and salad (mustard and Orange dressing), toast with jam and butter, half pack of biscuits, a cornetto and bowl of crisps.

In my defence the last three items were brought home by dh, like the cider I am drinking. I have walked lots, gardened and had a quick run, am also bfing at mo. Am still clearly crap...

LilithSternin · 07/06/2013 21:15

Hmmn...spaghetti hoops for breakfast (they count as one of your five a day, right?!?), cheese sandwich for lunch...and then I gave in and had a McDonalds with my brother Blush Chicken nuggets, chips and even a McFlurry!! I've had a three hour rehearsal tonight, so will have burnt some calories, but crikey, not that many!

Soupa · 07/06/2013 21:21

Ha not just me then, buttered toast brekky followed by a twix and monster munch, followed by salad and peanuts ... a whole big bag, home made ice cream and garlic pasta, grapes and pineapple.

There are still onion rings in the kitchen ... tomorrow I weigh myself...incentive needed.

Yearofme · 07/06/2013 21:28

Woke up late, had 2 slices brown bread toast, scrambled eggs and small ton of beans.

Then had home made chicken sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry with small portion of rice.

I walked for an hour as well.

But I'm sooooooo hungry!!! Really want to go to the shop and buy chocolate and a can of coke. Sad

Soupa I weigh myself every monday. Just do it then Smile

Yearofme · 07/06/2013 21:28

*tin not ton

LilithSternin · 09/06/2013 11:37

Woops, forgot to post yesterday! I had toast for breakfast, pasta and fruit for lunch, and lasagne for tea. I also had a packet of those new Magnum chocolate things, but as I was rehearsing and teaching pretty much non-stop from 9am till 5pm yesterday, I think I needed the energy! :p

Hi can I join too please? Yesterday I finally admitted I need to get a grip! For the last year my part-time work has been over full time hours due to staffing issues. We took on 2 new staff Feb and my hours didn't reduce Confused and now 1 has given notice so my plans to sort my weight / house when I get my part-time status doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

My weakness is stodge - bread, butter, chips and cheese. I am vegetarian and tend to use these as easy, comfort food. My danger time is when I get back home from work when I just eat anything and everything as I try and switch off from the day - then sit down to dinner with the family Blush My motivation is to fit into my clothes as I am getting more and more restricted.

So yesterday I chatted to my family about wanting to eat more healthily and we did - and I actually felt better for it. I used to use the gym 4 times a week - that is just not possible with my work hours and family at the moment but I am determined to step it up again!

I hope that if I am posting here I will think twice about my 3 slice of buttered toast / biscuit / crackers and cheese / crisp habit!

Yearofme · 09/06/2013 12:11

Hey,

Yesterday had 2 crisp bread cracked with 2 slices lean ham and grated cheese and an act

Yearofme · 09/06/2013 12:13

*actimel yogurt.

Then 2 mini chocolate muffins and one mini lemon muffin

Then homemade spaghetti bolagnaise with 2 slices garlic bread. Drunk one small bottle of lucozade though!

Exercise - one n a half hours of walking.

tibni · 09/06/2013 21:55

Today i have had strawberries and low fat plain yogurt and a veggie tikka masala (homemade) with rice. Resisted the naan bread Smile. Managed a gym session and faced the scales, have about a stone to shift!

Soupa · 10/06/2013 10:38

Right, Monday weigh in it is.

10 stone this morning, am aiming for 9.7 so will start being good ish again...

Tibni...love all those yummy carbs and lots of butter, I eat tons of butter!

Soupa · 10/06/2013 10:55

You have made a better start than me as I am eating mackerel pâté on buttered bagels whilst drinking hot chocolate... Well Monday is a long way off. Am just about to go back for more so this will count as lunch.

I must start running, makes me behave better as I know how much easier it feels when lighter.

tibni · 10/06/2013 18:55

Well thought of posting has really helped me. Back home from 11hr shift shattered - this is my danger time. Drank 3 glasses of water then set about chopping red onions, peppers, mushrooms for an omlette with salad and few jersey pots. lunch was cottage cheese salad, melon and yogurt. I can't face breakfast as early starts. It is just keeping it up now, im still going to have treats but try and remember moderation.

LilithSternin · 14/06/2013 19:39

I've been really quite poorly the last week or so and so haven't really been eating properly at all, so I'll have to start again properly tomorrow.

Can I join too. 5ft 4.5 (that half is very important!) and 9st 10lb. Have actually lost 4lb this week by just cutting out the chocolate - how shocking is that! Shows what a pig I am.

I've had gastritis after a wisdom tooth infection and chocolate was hurting my stomach, so result, no stomach pain and weight loss too!

I have a very physically demanding job and cycle everywhere; so need to eat well and seem to manage this with my main meals but it's the junk on top that's my downfall. Aiming to be about 9st.5lbs.

Lilith I can never eat healthy when I'm not well and my body seems to crave food! Get yourself well first!
