My water diet

I need to loose weight. but how?

I'm far too busy to concentrate on what I eat, how much and when.

It stresses met out when I have to prepare special foods & drinks for myself in advance because we are going to a friends' or have guests or travelling or whatever.

We have 6 kids and I'm just so busy. 4 at school, 2 at home, there's always something more important than weighing and calculating my little portions of pasta.
I always get interrupted and distracted.

Plus baby is only 13 months and is a mummy's girl, so I rarely get anything done - like tidying or being organized.
I'm not even going to talk about lack of sleep.

the house is a mess and I DH is about to have an operation, then there are holidays and birthdays and so on. It's just too much.

Weight Watchers always worked for me, so my plan is to go back in September, but as for now I can not fully commit to it.
I can't do it half-arsed.

that's all very well, but what about for the next 3 months?
my birthday is at the end of August and we are going on holiday and I really want to loose about 2 stones (which I did with WW 2 years ago, so I know I can) and wear my prettier clothes and feel just healthier.

So I came up with an idea.

WATER DIET!

I've heard countless of times and from various sources that half the time (or so) we eat because we are thirsty, not hungry. that not enough water is one of the reasons we over-eat.

so I thought that I will drink 2 litres of water everyday and will not worry about what I eat and when and how much. And see if that makes a difference.

See if it helps me reduce cravings, if it fills me up to reduce food intake.
or flush out toxins. or help me feel less tired.
And most importantly if it helps me to get slimmer.
I've got nothing to loose - just the extra weight!Grin

Join me if you like.

Well done. I'm not going to weigh again now this week so this week will be going down as 1lb.

Emilythornesbff · 31/05/2013 14:48

Whoop whoop amazingmum
Well done.

amazingmumof6 · 01/06/2013 16:23

today I woke up too early to go someplace with a friend and it turned out to be an utter waste of time.
I have a stonking headache.

kids and I decorated loads of gingerbread biscuits for tomorrow's party - I still have a cake to bake but nap first.

I know these are not typical slimming subjects, but there is not that much I can say about drinking water when there's no one else around.
where are you all?

1 litre done so far

I wonder if my headache is to do with being tired or it's a reaction to getting re-hydrated.

I think it will be weird to keep chatting to myself, without company, but it helps me focus.

I've been low carbing and lost nothing until I made a conscious effort to drink water, aiming for 3l a day which is surprisingly easy. I've had 2.5l today. You just need to be conscious about it.

amazingmumof6 · 01/06/2013 17:13

wise words Ehric

how much have you lost so far?

OP posts:
EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 01/06/2013 17:33

Oh only 2lbs but that is since the weekend and I'm in my 3rd week of it. I was only drinking tea before!

specialsubject · 01/06/2013 17:43

sounds like cutting out the pepsi and hot chocolate, (both solid sugar) and replacing them with calorie-free water is working. :-)

amigababy · 01/06/2013 20:32

I'm back from holiday so hopefully will start drinking the water tomorrow.
But today has been weird, think I woke up with food poisoning or something so I've not eaten or drunk anything at all while coming home, i felt way too dodgy. I'm just trying a cup of tea now to see how I feel.

amazingmumof6 · 02/06/2013 18:56

hello everyone!

today I have drank 1 litre so far.

we had a very busy, running around day and less access to the toilets meant I had to delay drinking water to certain times - it messed with me a bit!

I'm really tired now and just want to have a bath and an early night - I've eaten so much at the Coronation Party we went to that I can't bear the thought of eating anything else today.

I've decided that 3 things, starting tomorrow:

1, I'll have a bottle of water as soon as I get up. I didn't do it today as I was so busy and really missed it!

  1. I'll have breakfast either before school run or straight after.
This will be a massive challenge for me as I don't normally feel hungry until near noon, but habits are learnt and so can be re-learnt - I'm positive that after a few weeks this problem will be sorted.
  1. I'll try to eat soup most days for lunch. that worked really well when I was doing weight watchers - soups are fairly easy and quick to make (especially from frozen veg!) and they fill me up, another trick to reduce the cravings and picking/grazing/nibbling.

right, I'm determined.

going to a party in 5 weeks and I hope to loose at least 1lb/ week by then.

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 02/06/2013 19:10

I don't agree with the must eat breakfast orthodoxy. If you aren't hungry then just drink more water and wait for lunch.

amazingmumof6 · 03/06/2013 11:09

I woke up with a sore throat and fuzzy head and was feeling sick last night which has not stopped.

I'm just so full of snot (sorry).

it might just be the cold, but I wonder if my body is trying to get rid of all the gunk I've been struggling with (chronic sinusitis and frequent upper respiratory infections).

( I'm definitely not pg, otherwise I'd think It's morning sickness, I feel really bleugh)

I had one ginger biscuit, but I feel so sick I can not think of food.
not good as I'm getting quite hungry.

I'll be drinking warm water today, as I just don't want anything cold.

Hi amazing hope you feel better soon and cab have a quiet day to recover.
I'm starting today, had 1 litre so far. I like the idea of Home made soup, I'm a lentil fan and might get the slow cooker out, nice and easy. I need to go shopping first, I'm back from holiday and the cupboards are nearly empty.

amazingmumof6 · 03/06/2013 11:26

thanks amigababy I really want to go to bed, but have to post Ebay stuff and sew things for a friend that I promised weeks ago and it can not be delayed any longer.

glad you are getting started, I love lentils too, they are fab with butternut squash and leeks

OP posts:
Blueandwhitelover · 03/06/2013 14:58

Hope you feel better soon, Amazing.
I've had a cereal bar on playground duty and a rather nice bowl of spinach soup with a smidgeon of stilton melted into it for lunch.
Chicken wrapped in bacon with vegetables for tea later on. Finding the water bit harder than I thought now I'm back at school. Might have to dig out my water bottle and take it in!

amazingmumof6 · 04/06/2013 13:12

thanks blue , echinacea started to kick in.
I didn't sleep much last night and my head feels fuzzy, but I have finished one bottle of water already.

I also feel sick so have zero appetite - well I guess that's one way to loose weightGrin

I wonder how everyone else is doing.

OP posts:
amigababy · 04/06/2013 17:07

just starting second litre, not drinking very fast. also getting over a tummy bug, I feel miles better, but still not hungry. I'm imagining this is what naturally slim people feel like all the time Smile

I sort of hope it lasts, its nice not being bothered by food once you feel well again.

amazingmumof6 · 05/06/2013 23:46

sorry, I abandoned threas today, DH had bilateral hernia op today, so I was wrapped up with that.

had gallons of tea, very little water.
not sure what happens tomorrow but I'll have to focus on him.
whatever Friday weigh-in brings will be fine with me.

I know I've eaten less again this week than I did 2 weeks ago.
I'll do my best tomorrow.

on Friday I'll up the target to 2 litres and will get back in the game properly.

OP posts:
amazingmumof6 · 07/06/2013 07:50

no drumroll today, I put on a bit of weight since last week.

which doesn't surprise me as I spent the last 2 days drinking tea & not enough water.

I have to say it's not nice to admit that I failed this week.
I feel like a fool.

but this set back won't stop me from trying again.

(the only problem is that I still have a very sore throat and just don't feel like drinking water. . .
frustrating. )

amazingmumof6 · 08/06/2013 18:46

ah, I lost momentum.

I was so enthusiastic, but since Wednesday I kind of started caring less and less.

I feel crap right now.

OP posts:
Niknakpaddywhack · 09/06/2013 13:38

Oh - so sorry you're feeling crap amazingmumof6 Sad You were so motivated.

But it is hard when you feel ill, so please DO NOT feel like a fool. You have had so much going on as well, with your dh's op and not feeling well yourself, that sometimes other things have to take priority.

It is NOT a failure, it is a temporary blip (that's what I keep telling myself as I lost motivation and fell off the wagon due to lot's of 'stuff' going on at home.)

I really hope you're feeling better today Flowers

amazingmumof6 · 09/06/2013 14:10

thanks niknak!

you are so sweet, don't ever leave me!Grin

I've just had my first bottle ( I sound like a toddler orcan alki!Grin ) half an hour ago.
but upon reading your encouraging words I quickly put away another one! thank you so much!Smile

you arw right. blip's over.
1 litre done and I will finish my target today!

I feel better now.

I went for a massage once and afterwards they gave me a glass of cucumber water. It was delicious. Literally, they just had a jug of ice water with some slices of cucumber thrown in. Might be an idea to break up all the watery water tasting water!
