Welcome to thread 12 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting in your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer clothes!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry ~ NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get into a smaller size for summer, just think how we could look for next Christmas!

Wow you've got an amazing Dad very!! I was told if you move somewhere bigger you just fill it up and it's true!!!!! we're only 2 now but our place is full of our, our ILs, (more of DH's than mine Grin) and our DCs old crap stuff.

BTW i just listened to a broadcast on Earth Clinic about turmeric it's an incredible herb in that it cures almost everything including cancer (though they are careful NOT to say that).. Only me and my big mouth Grin.

Solo it's brilliant for inflammation and arthriticky pains it's worth giving it a go!

BigBoobiedBertha · 19/08/2013 17:27

Ah ppeat, I'm afraid I don't have a fancy pants Mac. I covert one of those. Does it sprinkle fairy dust and magic over everything you type? I imagine it does.Envy

I wouldn't have minded but I only moved the wireless keyboard thingy from one slot to another (that's a technical term obviously) because the BT thingy is slightly wider than the USB slot and there wasn't room for it and it has thrown itself down in a big old huff and started to behave strangely. I hope it settles down and gets used to its new slot soon! Its more temperamental than a hormonal teenager.

Phones back anyway. A shiny new cable has been installed and the internet works which is pretty much the best it has been for 5 days.

Veryberry - I am very tempted to move house. The only thing that is stopping me is that any removal people that came to the door would take one look and run screaming up the road. I have a feeling that 20 yrs from now, my DSs will stage an intervention and I will end up on one of those programmes about sad old ladies who hoard so much they have to sleep in their arm chairs every night because their houses are so full of crap they can't find the stairs. I'm not sure where their husbands are. I suspect they may be trapped in the bathroom or something and completely mummified in a cocoon of Women's Weekly and gas bills dating back 40 yrs. So, I shall soldier on and get rid of stuff. Has PM done a book about getting a grip and the cathartic benefits of giving all your stuff away? Perhaps I should add just one more little book to the pile if he has.Smile

Solo · 19/08/2013 22:59

No, it wasn't of riot proportions pp so certainly not newsworthy. But it's amazing what damage a single man can cause!

I'm not on holiday ppShock Smile Another alternative medicine user here although food is my medicine cause everything we eat is creating our renewed bodies. Grin I use mag phos for ibs cramps...amazing !!!! Tea tree and lavender with water in a bottle for cleaning face. Coconut solid oil for moisturizing. Pit rock crystal stick for deoderising. There are lots of things to help heal diseases but they are not money making.

ppeatfruit · 20/08/2013 10:52

Morning all Grin Rules as you know i live my life trying to eat the correct food for my health but I've noticed as I get older I need help from extra supplements; they change as I read,or hear about different things e.g. turmeric, try it for your IBS. I take hawthorn and gingko 2 weeks out of four which are good for the heart and circulation(my Dad died from a heart attack) I used to take homeopathic remedies but they're generally milk pills and I try to avoid dairy. (i still swear by them though).

. I sometimes use lavender and tea tree essential oils as a deodorant when I've just shaved and me armpits are too sensitive for the rock crystal i usually use snap!!

Blimey solo It sounds like that person should be in a nut house more secure unit!

BBB When we moved we had sooo much stuff (and this was after I cleared a lot out). It's still in boxes in a room that we say every year we'll go through but apart from taking the Xmas dex in and out it's still the same! Oddly DH said he wanted to become minimalist but it did not last (I don't like minimalism I like a home to look like one but there are limits!).

BigBoobiedBertha · 20/08/2013 12:15

ppeat - DS2 likes minimalism. He always likes the fresh modern, all white houses on any property programme he watch with us. His bedroom is the worst of the lot!

I don't like minimalism either but as you say, there are limits. We also have un-unpacked boxes from our last move. This house is truly appalling for storage and whilst DH was setting up his business and we were living off fresh air for years, our house hasn't had any attention and we haven't been able to afford more cupboards and shelves so in their boxes they have stayed. Things have finally started to improve and once the porch is done, we are installing a row of bookshelves on the landing. I am looking forward to that. That should help with the box pile!

I have to admit I don't take anything - probably ibuprofen about 4 times a year and that is it. Even if I could be bothered to sift through the ever changing advice, I doubt I would remember to take anything regularly enough for it to have benefits. DH takes rosehip for his joints and that is expensive enough. There are piles of research done on it but he isn't sure if it does any good. I suppose the only way to find out if it works is to stop taking it!

I was prescribed peppermint capsules to take an hour before eating, when I suffered with IBS years ago. Mainly that was stress related though, not really diet although I avoided coffee, meat, diary and spicy foods on bad days. The only things that didn't make it worse were toast and plain crisps. Blush Not very nutritionally sound but they never gave me stomach aches and potatoes are supposed to be very good for stress (whether that is true when they are fried in veg oil I am not sureGrin). It was drinking more water, eating a bit more fruit (very slowly at first) and seeing somebody to learn relaxation techniques that finally got it under control. And changing job helped too. I hated my job at the time.

Rules · 20/08/2013 12:36

Hi Ladies,
For me ibs is stress triggered too BUT if I eat very low carb then it stops the worse of it. Interesting yes!!! The funny thing is at the time of the first attack many years ago when I was researching it to try and sort it out, I did an elimination diet . No dairy, wheat, fruit, potatoes, chocolate etc. Just ate simple. egg and bacon breakfast, salad and fish baked in olive oil and rice chicken almonds and with sliced carrot,. Ibs disappeared, no farting in fact no wind at all for a couple of months and lost loads of weight. When I ate I was truly truly hungry though.

BigBoobiedBertha · 20/08/2013 12:52

I couldn't cope with eggs and bacon at all - still don't 'trust' eggs eaten as a meal rather than in something (and therefore diluted iyswim) even now. I had eggs 2 days in a row a month of so ago, which never happens normally and lets just say I felt the 'effects'. Blush

If I had eaten your breakfast it would have been me in pain for the next couple of days. Potatoes were OK for me although eating by themselves without any meat or anything was a bit of a challenge on the taste front so I didn't which is a shame as they are supposed to be good for you. I got into a cycle of barely eating every other day and only being able to eat toast when I got hungry and my stomach had calmed down on the painful days. When I went back to eating normally again, the next day was when the pain started again. It was like doing the alternate day diet so naturally I lost a lot of weight too! WRT the fruit I started with a banana which is very carby and not acidic like lots of fruit and worked my way from there. But as I say, it was more water (was probably dehydrated a lot of the time) and relaxation that did it.

Sadly, when it was under control and I was able to eat almost anything was when the weight started to go on. Sad

Rules · 20/08/2013 13:01

Sometimes for me though I think just overeating in general causes wind. As if im overtaxing my digestive system. The less I eat the better it is.

ppeatfruit · 20/08/2013 13:10

I forgot to say BBB That my compooter may be a Mac but it's 2nd hand and is a sit up and beg type; it doesn't like me going too fast (it puts a little rainbow coloured O on the words!). The nicest thing is that we bought it from a graphic designer so there's an arty hard drive in it (I don't know if that's correct techspeak Grin)

SOME people are okay with potatoes I'm certainly not I did used to have some IBS many years ago but now no nightshade veg. for me and I have no problems.

QueenOfHalloween · 20/08/2013 19:07

Bit behind with the thread guys! I'm back on the wagon but not actually listened to the CD as i've been so tired i feel asleep before i got the chance. I'm wiped out again so will probably fall asleep before again tonight! I'll get there.

BigBoobiedBertha · 20/08/2013 21:33

Goodness ppeat, how do you cope without tomatoes? Or potatoes come to that but I don't eat potatoes every day. I almost always eat tomatoes though and a salad wouldn't be a salad without them. And what about peppers and chili? Shock

Shame about not eating potatoes. They are very good for your blood pressure because they are probably the best source of potassium and they contain substances which are good for stress too (perhaps why I was drawn to them when I was super-stressed). I lived off baked spuds in the early days of both pregnancies too. They were one of the few things I could stomach along with tomatoes, a smattering of butter and strangely, pickled onions.

ppeatfruit · 21/08/2013 11:40

Easy peasy BBB Though I love the look of the amazing ones here ATM they used to give me eczema and potatoes affected my stomach badly.

Instead I have cucumber, carrot, avocadoes, lettuce and celeriac salad, etc (All the other roots make lovely mash) You just have to get good cook books and google recipes etc.

Tomatoes are good for O types and some others while pots. ARE good for type ABs and Bs but the lectins are not good for me!

ppeatfruit · 21/08/2013 11:47

I've got an ancient book picked up for me in a pub by Jane Grigson that is all about veg.

Rules · 21/08/2013 16:40

Fresh fruit and veg is yum but we are dumbed down by the " five a day " thing. It's more like at least ten a day minimum.

Rules · 21/08/2013 16:42

Tom's are good full stop. Very potent cancer fighting properties. Also I eat the seeds of all the fruits as they contain potent cancer fighting agents.

Rules · 21/08/2013 16:43

if I have a peach for example I break the stone in the middle and eat the seed.

ppeatfruit · 21/08/2013 16:56

Not for me Rules i used to have quite nasty eczema and when I stopped eating them it cleared up quickly. I know because if I accidentally have some toms. I get the eczema again. We're not all the same DH is good with them.

I grind up linseeds and pumpkin seeds in my every other morning smoothie sometimes with ground almonds it's fab.

Rules · 21/08/2013 17:01

Yep there the normal seeds but have you looked into the benefits of eating the seeds like peach and nectarines and avocados....amazing .

ppeatfruit · 21/08/2013 17:51

Yes, interesting, apricots are good as well, the skin of avoes is good for a facial according to Liz Earle not sure about the pip though.

Solo · 22/08/2013 00:07

Yes re tomatoes. I cut them out of my Ds's diet aged 3 (see the red colour on the 'share on google'? Ds's skin around his mouth was that colour and sore )and his eczema improved 70%...I cut out yoghurt and citrus and it cleared up 100%. Tomatoes are quite acidic I think. I introduced them into his diet every 6 months to see what happened and eventually at around age 8 he'd grown out of the allergy.

If you can eat them, they are great :)

Just checking in. Haven't been on for ages, too busy entertaining the sprogs - roll on term time!

I've discovered the official ICMYT app for the iPhone (not sure if its available for android) and its fantastic! Probably won't be as useful for established paulettes, but for those of us who are still getting into it it's amazing, especially if you're on the go a lot as it means the rules are always to hand. It's got the cd on there (called trance on the app though) and some videos of PM talking you through some tapping techniques (including some new ones that aren't in the book) and visualisation exercises. It's also got the 90 day journal and a panic button which I love! So when things are getting a bit much and you're feeling overwhelmed you can just press this and select one of 3 options of lovely PM calming you down, there's a 1 min, 3 min and 7 min option depending on how much time you have. The apps not cheap at £6.99 and its definitely geared more to emotional eaters, but, if like me, you have a tendency to lose your way during the day, this is a good reminder for keeping you on track.

Hope everyone's well anyway, will check in properly when I actually get a minute to myself!

ppeatfruit · 22/08/2013 09:06

Morning everyone Smile That's good to know for any newbies, thanks NoGoodAt

True about toms solo they are acidic like peppers and chillis (I have never liked or eaten them BBB) Annoyingly restaurants tend say "Oh they don't eat meat I know let's pile their food with peppers and put a vinegary dressing on it" YEUUUUCH!!!

veryberrybug · 22/08/2013 11:31

hellooo all!

interesting chat about different foods suiting different ones of us, i've noticed this can change over time like bbb said about DS, but into supposedly being adult too. i think our bodies tell us so now we're all Pauling we've got the advantage because we listen, rather than gubbing whatever disagrees with us & then popping to the doc to get some pills to suppress the symptom. remember recently i was bemoaning rice crispies for being too airy & not filling? well this werk i bought some & am now loving them for breakfast: clearly my body needs less stodge just now!

bbb i found a lovely website with clear, no-frills instructions on how to declutter your house! also other good articles like motivation/ reaching goals, getting past sleep problems etc. i'd recommend a look to anyone it's www.zenhabits.net honestly almost every problem i've ever had has been faced & overcome by this guy but he doesny patronise Smile

rules i too find stress & eating too much make me fart poisonously the next day! Blush i remember this happening a lot when i was on diet/binge cycle

pp thanks i think my dad's awesome too, 82 & still sharp as a tack! i'm so glad he taught me principles by example.

queen i'm having a tired week too, just dropped the wee one at school & came straight back to doze with Paul, i'm fit for nothing!

ooh witty the app sounds fab, loads of helpful sounding gizmos. hope it helps you to keep on it. i love the sound of the panic button!! Grin

i finally got my tattoo done (xmas pres from DP) after batting designs back & forth, & afterwards i felt i really needed some tea & sugary cake (it was a bit ouchy at parts) so i went to a café & was delighted to find not just one GF option but a choice!! so chose a biiig cheesecake... & it finally happened - after much slevering savouring deliciousness, the last two mouthfuls just didny taste as good, & i knew i'd had enough!!! hoorah!!! & later on i didny fancy my tea, so i just fed the kids & sat at table chatting with them, just the thing. ticketyboo!! Wink that's a knowing wink now i feel i'm getting it more Grin

Rules · 22/08/2013 17:12

pp the seeds of fruits including peach and nectarines and avocados are cancer killers.
