Welcome to thread 12 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting in your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer clothes!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry ~ NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get into a smaller size for summer, just think how we could look for next Christmas!

I will add to the above that I've never been on a counting cals., WW, Cambridge type diet having been eating healthy food for many years since before I started the Paul Mc. which helps IMO. Grin

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/08/2013 16:22

Thanks. Grin

Welcome Onesleep if your talking about low carb dieting for weight loss and doing Paul McKenna mindful eating then the two do not go together in my opinion. This is not a diet thread but an undiet thread. Nothing wrong with leaving out certain foods that cause problems within your body though. On this thread we are learning to eat naturally when our bodies are hungry and eating what we want. We are re learning how to eat like a slim person with no diet or food hangups. Its a struggle sometimes but we refuse to go back to diets as they mess with your head and body.

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/08/2013 17:08

Thanks, Rules. I want to consciously cut down on my carbs because I do feel better off them, and I do find them addictive. I love the nasty wee buggers, but far, far too much, sadly.

Rules · 09/08/2013 17:20

So what are you planning on cutting down on then Onesleep.? Are you wanting to cut down so far that the body goes into Ketosis? Or just cutting down slightly? Smile

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/08/2013 17:31

Dear God, no! I'm not stupid. But cut obvious things like potatoes, rice, (garlic) bread, to a very large degree, but eat fruit, gravy, etc.

veryberrybug · 09/08/2013 21:24

LOL you go girl rules on your soapbox! yes i agree a lot of things combine to make the western world fatter, in addition to those mentionned above studies have shown people eat significantly more when given a bigger helping. it alters what we get used to seeing as a "portion".

welcome back pp glad you never got blown away! sounds scary biscuits Biscuit

& welcome to you onesleep nice to have you Smile this is a great way to lose weight, but you absolutely cannot do it with low carbing, restricting what you can have in any way completely counteracts the basic principle which is following your body's intuition.

Rules · 09/08/2013 21:33

Hi very how's it all going for you at the moment?

veryberrybug · 09/08/2013 22:05

oops, there's a whole page of posts appeared from before my post but that hadny appeared on my machine, so my comments were re: page 28! Blush

anyhoo onesleep i didny mean to sound stern, what i meant was if you weigh/count & are only allowed a certain amount of carbs, that doesny tie in with Pauling. however, if you think "actually i'd rather not have that garlic bread because i'll just feel crap & not enjoy the carb-binge cycle", then that's totally different IYSWIM? for example, i used to do a lower carb diet, but it just made me want them more because i couldny have them. recently i found out i was wheat intolerant, & now i find it very easy to resist the wheaty variety because i just think about the bloaty discomfort & know i'd rather not. IMO all the four rules are equally as important, but the one about eat what you want not what you think you should has particular relevance for people who have dieted previously, & as pp has not it isny of as much value to her.

veryberrybug · 09/08/2013 22:15

thanks for asking rules it's good thanks. recovered from stinking hangover Blush aah who am i kidding it was totally worth it & i'll do it again! had a lovely strong "no more chocolate thanks" signal after... 3 white chocolate buttons!! hah! i'm seeing a pattern emerge here: every time i have a patch of wanting to & eating more fatty foods like crisps, chocolate & chips, i go with it but after a while i start to panic, the old diet categories of "bad food" kicks in & i worry that i'll gain weight... then suddenly i just don't want those types of food for a while & fancy some real clean & healthy eating. hmm, i just need to learn to trust that my body will do the right thing, but it's hard sometimes when i still feel down about my size Sad

KeepTheFaithBaby · 09/08/2013 22:36

Hello one!

Hmm I dunno...I think it's beneficial to try to choose less refined carbs. I think it encourages a vicious cycle. However I think that's about recognising and managing cravings rather than restricting your diet. It'll be clearer when you get your book. I don't eat gluten because it upsets my digestive system but I find I can successfully Paul on a GF diet.

I have been running 3 times again this week, managed 3.56k yesterday. Also at lunch I knew I wasn't too hungry so I had a salad and left half of it when out. Yay me! I really want a GF cream tea though Envy

Rules · 09/08/2013 22:37

I know its hard but your doing so well and "getting it". Its slow but sure. The alternative is another diet that you start off with such great intentions and then fall off with a very short time. This way you are learning more about your body and what it wants. Smile

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/08/2013 22:51

Thanks everyone! You're going to be a great help and encouragement, I think. No doubt I'll be back next week when it's delivered! Smile

Rules · 09/08/2013 22:55

Well done on the running Faith. Your doing really well. Good for you.

Rules · 09/08/2013 23:11

You will get a CD as well with it for doing the hypno trance One. Its lovely to listen to. Maybe just maybe you will find that you will do more of this way of eating but leaving out some of the more carby carbs IYNWIM. I love bread but too much of it does give me ibs so I have to be careful and too many carbs in general can also set of ibs so I cant replace them with gluten free as they are just a high in carbs as wheat. Look forward to seeing you again then One. Smile

Onesleeptillwembley · 09/08/2013 23:24

Thanks, Rules. I think that's basically what I meant about the carbs, not rigid, but maybe more getting a bit of a grip. Grin

QueenOfHalloween · 10/08/2013 14:44

Hello One Your comment about cutting back on (garlic) bread made me smile. I am terrible for wanting garlic bread where ever we go to eat. I'm often extremely put out if restaurants don't offer it!

veryberrybug · 10/08/2013 16:52

cheers for the support rules it really helps Smile& you're so right!

quick query faith i just listened to PM on pillowspeaker & realised there were quiet parts... all the bits usually on right earphone were inaudible. does this happen to you? the other track (easyloss) doesny have one side or the other bits so it hadny been a problem with that.

hope everyone's well today Grin

ppeatfruit · 10/08/2013 17:03

Queen If you eat your garlic bread really slowly I bet you wouldn't enjoy it. You could try making your own with good rye (maybe GF bread) and olive oil it's much more satisfying. I've been wheat free (as much as is possible) for many years and much prefer rye bread.

I do feel that when P.M. refers to refusing Junk Food he's being hypocritical Rules because he does say that. Perhaps he means you don't FANCY it any more after being able to eat it I don't know.

Rules · 11/08/2013 12:07

pp....not sure what your referring to with the " junk" food bit. I don't remember saying anything about that?? Smile

Rules · 11/08/2013 12:10

o and eaten slowly I still adore garlic bread with a lovely baguette real salty welsh butter fresh garlic and chopped fresh parsley. I prefer my rye bread with strong cheese and salamis and pickles.

Rules · 11/08/2013 12:13

Just a thought, spelt is a strain of ancient wheat and contains gluten so anyone who is not good with gluten might be best avoiding spelt.

ppeatfruit · 11/08/2013 12:35

He says it on the CD entitled Programme Your Mind To Slim Your Body. Rules

Yes I know spelt has got gluten in it, but I'm just wheat free (i say just it's in nearly effing everything!!! )I've even gone off the FRENCH baguettes they leave a horrible taste in my mouth and are so damn crunchy they cut yer gums!!!!

ppeatfruit · 11/08/2013 13:16

Sorry rules i've been meaning to suggest that you look at turmeric as a help for IBS it's amazing for allergies. I take it mixed with a bit of olive oil (and a glass of water!) if i start sneezing after eating yoghurt or whatever. If you want more info on it you can google Earth Clinic which apart from some weirdnesses is brilliant for alternatives.

Rules · 11/08/2013 13:17

Just not sure why you referred it to me though. I don't remember saying anything Smile....read your original post with regards this.
"I do feel that when P.M. refers to refusing Junk Food he's being hypocritical Rules because he does say that. Perhaps he means you don't FANCY it any more after being able to eat it I don't know."???

and "oh noooooo" to you going off the French baguettes.....much as I love rye bread, real german rye bread that is, it does make one rather gassy. lol
