For those of you who haven't Bootcamped before, Bootcamp consists of just 10 rules. All you have to do is to follow these for two weeks. It's designed to make low carbing as straightforward as possible, and I hope those who have already done it will agree!

The rules are:

Eat three, proper meals a day
Avoid processed food
Eat lots of fat
Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food

Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
No alcohol
No fruit
No nuts/seeds
No sugar or artificial sweeteners

After the first two weeks, the rules are relaxed a little bit, but you should have lost a significant amount of weight in this initial period. Also, very importantly, the two weeks of very low carb eating will have shifted you into fat-burning mode rather than carb-burning mode.

It depends entirely on the individual, XBenedict. But in the one that has just finished, one of our Bootcampers lost 12lbs in the first week!

Have a look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet

Here you will find the rules and the list of allowed veg. If you eat only veg on the allowed list, and make sure that you're not buying processed foods which contain carbs - i.e. so you're basing your meals around unprocessed meat/fish - then you will lose weight without having to weigh or count anything.

Marking my place for some motivation to loose again rather than just putting the same few pounds on and loosing them again as I have since the end of the last bootcamp. Life has rather got in the way though.... still back from hols and back to work so there is no excuse now.

Hi low carbers!

I'd like to give this a go again - I tried & failed before Christmas...

I am ttc at the moment & all the info I've read on low carbing says don't do it if you are ttc.

Do you think I could do a less strict version & still see results?

I have lost ten pounds since Easter low carbing. Struggling with breakfast as I have limited time and I hate eggs. At the moment eating cold Quorn sausages cooked the night before wrapped in lettuce for breakfast.

penny quite a few people on the bootcamp threads have been low carbing and TTC at the same time. i don't know why it wouldn't be advised, especially as low carbing can help regulate hormones, but i'm not an expert in that area i have to admit. i know that you're advised not to be in ketosis when pregnant

you could try bootcamp light (see the 'bootcamp light rules' tab in the spreadsheet BIWI linked to above) which is a more relaxed version. weight loss would be slower, but it would depend too on what your overall goal is - weight loss, general health etc

Hi, just dropping in as I'm an avid low Carber. Was doing for a year and maintaining wonderfully on LC lifestyle. I'm now pregnant and struggled to keep up it (craved bread to ease MS). Anyway, I still live by a few of the rules, but I noticed one of the posters on here mentioned breakfasts woes. my staples were batch cooking muffins on a Sunday, freezing and taking one out each morning. Saved the stress of trying to get ready for work and deal with LC brekkie. Anyway. from memory, the recipe is 1 jar of almond butter, 3 eggs (?) tsp baking powder, 1 tbs truvia(i think) blueberries and a splash of lemon extract. mix all together and pop in muffin trays and cook for about 20-25 mins. I usually get about 9. They are about 0.7 carbs per muffin and really keep you going.

Berries are fab for LC, even in first 2 weeks and my other staple was almond pancakes with berries and total greek yog, Again, froze them and took out each morning.

I also batch cooked sausage/egg muffins and froze for the week. 6 good quality sausages out of their skin and browned. Divide between muffin tray. Mix together 6 eggs, 60ml cream, 60ml water, dried herbs and poor over the sausage meat. Grate over soem some cheese and cook for about 20-30mins.

I'm sure you are all experts, but I am just envious of you all doing LC and I can't at the moment.
Sorry for long thread - just excited to see others on LC, seeing success and enjoying it. Good luck all and looking forward to getting back to that way of living again soon.

Popping in as another long term low carber, in maintenance. Was in the hairdressers on Saturday and overheard a long conversation a stylist was having with her client about the diet she was on to slim into her wedding dress in August.

"I have fat free yoghurt for breakfast.
I have 4 crispbreads for lunch with a scraping of low fat pate on them
I have chicken fried in a squirt of that fry light with a salad, no dressing
You can eat as much pasta, fruit and vegetables as you like and you are allowed 15 sins a day."

It was very difficult not to open my mouth. I would be STARVING on that diet, how is that maintainable.

I have just had a pile of leek and cabbage fried in butter, 2 bacon and 2 egg for lunch. [smug] Grin

Thanks willie, yep I think you're right it's ketosis that I need to avoid. Ill have a look at the boot camp light on the spread sheet
