WillieWEggledEgger · 22/03/2013 08:40

BecauseImWoeufIt · 22/03/2013 08:41

No idea where that 44 came from!

Ormiriathomimus · 22/03/2013 09:31

Hi littlefreida - I could swim, but then I'd have to kill myself Grin

Problem is I don't much like sport and 'exercise'. I used to do step, circuit training and go to the gym because I should, but I never enjoyed it. Running was good because it was outside and interesting. I used to plan my route with an OS map, did quite a lot of cross-country too.

I may well have to think again about doing something else but right now walking a few miles every day is OK.

KKKKaty · 22/03/2013 10:04

My concern with adding butter to everything is that my non-LCing DH is going to end up as fat as, well, butter...

Collywibbles · 22/03/2013 10:08

This is the blog linked to the Company who have the Groupon offer. I am NOT promoting them at all as I know nothing about them - but there are some useful bits on their blog www.naturalketosis.co.uk/blog

BlackAffronted · 22/03/2013 10:37

Willie, I am indeed Grin I feel like stopping people in the street and saying "these jeans are a size 22!" lol. But I wont Wink

ecuse · 22/03/2013 10:44

EMUZ - that's amazing! I bet you're really pleased. Such a difference to your shape.

Yes, to those who are a bit confused/shocked by NHS response. I saw my doctor yesterday. He was impressed by my early weightloss but told me I was eating a 'dangerously low' amount of carb (told me to stick above 100g). But in fairness to him, he did say he might read up about it a bit because he knew it was controversial but that didn't mean it was necessarily wrong. He told me that it was dangerous to be in a ketenogenic state as that's what happens to diabetics and it can damage your liver and make your blood too acidic (I think that's what he said). It did freak me out a bit, to be honest.

I've been given leave to proceed with caution and come back in three months for a weigh-in/bloods. So that should give me motivation to carry on and prove how healthy I can be!

BlackAffronted · 22/03/2013 10:58

ecuse, your Dr seems to be confusing being ketogenic with being ketoacidosis. Read this

WillieWEggledEgger · 22/03/2013 11:11

NYC attempt to ban sales of soda in large volume containers is stopped - unfortunately a judge ruled it needs more work before it can be implemented

the Lancet editorial says at the end 'It is strong public health interventions that influence the consumption behaviour of individuals' - i.e. they need to stand up to the food industry. the lancet Obesity series does mention calories in - calories out, but actually focuses less on what healthy eating is defined as and more on the fact that high-level intervention is needed

Not sure how much of this is freely accessible

prettybird · 22/03/2013 12:07

A bit sad but not surprising to read the answer from Matt Roberts in the recent MN Body Confidence discussion here

In answer to a question about a Low Carb diet - which is assumed to then mean high protein - he doesn't challenge the need for it to be high protein and although his adice isn't too too bad, you'd need to really analyse it to see he was advocating having some fat. He also obviously doesn't know anything about adapting your diet to be in a ketogenic state.

WillieWEggledEgger · 22/03/2013 12:27

yy prettybird "Carbohydrates - or carbs - are the body's preferred energy source". aka its first choice of energy source before your body fat!

EMUZ · 22/03/2013 13:43

Thanks Grin cheating slightly as I've followed alongside but not been on spreadsheet, but that was probably 10 weeks of LC
Long way to go yet!

ecuse · 22/03/2013 13:55

Yes! Ketoacidosis is what he said. Thanks, black, will have a read.

Arrrgh. Work bought pizza for lunch. I tried to resist by buying soup then realised my 'moroccan chicken' soup was actually mostly lentils. So I thought 'sod it if I'm going to be having carby lunch it sure as hell is going to be pizza not lentil soup'. And now I can't stop eating biscuits, which I haven't touched in nearly a month. I am utterly, utterly convinced about eating carbs meaning you crash and need to eat more carbs shortly afterwards.

WillieWEggledEgger · 22/03/2013 14:22

gah how annoying ecuse. but you can stop it now! don't write off the rest of the day/weekend!

prettybird · 22/03/2013 14:38

ecuse - step away from the biscuits. Step towards the water.

Fill yourself up with water. Not only will it stop you eating biscuits but it will help mitigate the damage you've done with your lapse.

You can do it. Smile

Pork Recipe
I'm still with you all, but haven't reported as I've lost no weight since monday. I've been really careful, but I think my portion size is too big.
Anyway, I read a recipe on here for pork cooked in coconut milk, I've bought the ingredients but can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help, or did I imagine it?
Also, I've got celeriac for a mash, do you just mash like potato with butter?

halfthesize · 22/03/2013 14:44

Fantastic weight loss results for this bootcamp, well done everyoneGrin

halfthesize · 22/03/2013 14:49

Well done EMUZ fantastic pics, bet you feel great Thanks

EMUZ · 22/03/2013 15:03

Feel loads better. Just a way of life now, I've told myself "I don't eat bread/pasta/potatoes"
Because I've followed the gym plan and Briffa my rules have been slightly different and I've been allowed sweet potato and any veg I want. Mainly because of the amount of gym work I'm doing!
Prep has helped me massively but I live alone which probably helps so I portion everything up in containers Smile

ecuse · 22/03/2013 15:05

I am drinking gallons of water now Blush

Bessie123 · 22/03/2013 15:08

middleagedspread I find celeriac is better whizzed in a food processor - it is quite lumpy if you just use a masher.

middleagedspread · 22/03/2013 15:12

Great thanks Bessie, will do.
