Morning folks. I'm a tad hungover this morning after a rare night out last night. Really wanted bacon to help me feel better but sadly we don't have any.

halfthesize · 29/03/2013 09:17

Happy Easter ladies Smile

MrsRinky fantastic loss well done you Thanks

So here is my confession, last night I didn't just fall of the wagon I dived head first into a Chinese, some wine and then a bloody cadburys cream egg. Blush I am so annoyed at myself after being good this week and going to the gym alot. Did not even enjoy the food that much!!

halfthesize · 29/03/2013 09:18

YAMA hope you feel better soon, can you go out for a big fry up??

Yama · 29/03/2013 09:34

You know Halfthesize - that is a ruddy great idea. We've all had breakfast (I am made of stern stuff) but lunch, lunch we could do. Kids will love it and it gets us out the house.

Thank you. Flowers

spilttheteaagain · 29/03/2013 09:36

Oh god halfthesize if it makes you feel better, the reason I do not feel guilty about the carrots I ate yesterday (3 of them!) is that they pale into insignificance alongside the carrot CAKE (2 pieces & 1 fairy cake) that I have had in the last two days. all medicinal and given by loving friends

Ah feck it.
Tomorrow is another day.
I shall join you on the naughty step.

Today began better. Poached eggs and buttered asparagus for brekkie, then greek yog with blackberries and some nuts/seeds.
Then DD wanted oaty pancakes so I had 3 of those. Gah.

halfthesize · 29/03/2013 10:35

Yama enjoy your lunch out.

split you are right 'tomorrow is another day' I am going to fast till tonight and drink shed loads of water, may even go for a runHmm Though you would think after a year of LCarbing I would know better than to crash and burn like this, as I now have tummy cramps etc!!Poached eggs sounds lovely.

Black did you enjoy the pork the other night?

ChocsandChipsandSealingWax · 29/03/2013 13:15

Hello all, I've missed you lots! Sorry been working absolutely flat out.

Just been catching up on the thread and posted spiltthetea's recipes to the recipe thread as they're great and didn't want to lose them!

Am sort of on maintenance at the moment because I reached my goal and a couple of pounds below that too - am working too hard to focus on bootcamp properly but mainly doing it, just too much alcohol and also birthday cake for mine and DS2's birthdays, and also a few more carby veg eg peas, tomatoes, beetroot. So i may have put on a couple of pounds but have not even had time to weigh myself.

Intending to join you all for the next Bootcamp and do it properly even though I'm at goal and see what my body's natural equilibrium is - Briffa's theory (I think him?) being that the WOE makes you either lose or gain until you reach the right point for you.

can't remember who it was who was craving comfort food but just had for lunch a low carb "croque monsieur":

  • flax bread, spread with mustard, then slice of ham, then cheese then under the grill. Mmmm!

And for supper last night low carb fish pie.

Also whoever wanted ideas on more fat, coconut oil stirred into herbal tea is a quick and easy way to add fat.

BlackAffronted · 29/03/2013 13:49

half, the pork was delicious, thanks for the suggestion!

just found a sandwich place that delivers for free, so just had a huge salad with their homemade coleslaw, egg, roast beef and extra bacon birs! very tasty.

I have had one of my friends join me on this woe. I made her a shopping list and a book list to get her started Grin

Yama · 29/03/2013 15:00

So, I took the kids to the nearest cafe. Menu was not good for low carb. Luckily one of their soups was Cream of Cauliflower and Smoked Cheese soup so I had that. It was delicious.

A nice walk in the sunshine afterwards and now we are home with Cbeebies on. Bliss. I love being on holiday. Smile

halfthesize · 29/03/2013 15:38

Glad you liked it Black that sandwich place sounds fabSmile

yama did I hear you say 'sunshine' Confused

Yama · 29/03/2013 16:17

Yes, it's amazingly sunny here on the West Coast of Scotland. Was yesterday too. Ds even took his jacket off for the walk home.

We are heading to Yorkshire on Sunday for a few days. Will be pissed off it's not sunny there. Am I hoping for too much?

FrantasticO · 29/03/2013 16:19

Got the link to here from bridesmaid thread.
Hope to join you on 29th for next boot camp, but don't have a clue where to start.
Will trawl through previous threads and swat up...one stone on since giving up cigs in January and I'm a misery with a belly now.
Things can only get better.

BlackAffronted · 29/03/2013 16:30

welcome fran Smile there us a lot of info on the spreadsheet that is linked to in the op. use the tabs to find the rules and other bits to bring yourself up to speed.

BlackAffronted · 29/03/2013 16:31

oh, and a huge well done on giving up smoking!

MaryBeardfanclub · 29/03/2013 17:21

hi all, hope you are all enjoying the easter break - We had an outing this morning to a local easter egg hunt - at 12 noon I went home with 2 crying children due to the cold and ds1 ate his huge easter egg ( I tried to get it off him) and felt sick and I only let ds2 have a tiny bit and he went ballistic as he is a total sugar nut (at only 19 months!!)

anyway, we came home and watched bugsy malone and all was well.

the dietdoctor has created a new page on his site - with loads of LC resources here

B: sausage, bacon, eggs
L: chicken strips dipped in egg and parmesan and fried, nibble of meat loaf
D: will be the fried cabbage dish, lamb casserole with almond dumplings

I have made oopsie rolls and have cream and strawberries in the house..mmm, a divine pud beckons

tonight the children will sleep in the same room for the first time - fingers crossed [busmile]

teaandthorazine · 29/03/2013 18:02

Well, this is weird. I feel like CRAP. I think I have the carb flu, for the first time ever Sad. I feel hot, achey, slightly nauseous, knackered. Found an old tub of ketostix and according to them I'm definitely well in ketosis. I know I've not eaten nearly enough over the last couple of days because I've just had no appetite at all... but I don't know whether that's ketosis or genuinely feeling ill! My stomach aches as well... grrr this is not nice.

Can't believe I've been low carbing on and off for a year now and this is the first time the carb flu had got me. Or maybe I'm just poorly?!

BIWI · 29/03/2013 18:07

Hmm. Sounds more like you're poorly. Hope you're feeling better soon.

OP posts:
teaandthorazine · 29/03/2013 18:32

Yeah, I kind of think so too BIWI. Dammit. I'm going to have a small bowl

teaandthorazine · 29/03/2013 18:33

... ooops!

of dp's famous spag Bol minus spag and see how I feel. I'm supposed to be taking my dad out tomorrow night for a slap up Indian for his birthday so I definitely want to feel better by then!!

MaryBeardfanclub · 29/03/2013 20:06

this cauliflower potato salad looks delish

I love how all the veg I eat tastes so good on this woe, and to think I used to just boil and eat plain. this thread is a goldmine of brilliant veg ideas, thanks to all you imaginative cooks Thanks

Ruprekt · 29/03/2013 20:37

HmmHmmFirst time since 7 Jan that I have binged!

On DH's delicious almond and banana cake.

It was lovely but my stomach is a bit bloated now.

He halved the amount of sugar as the bananas were so sweet.

Am a failure! HmmHmm

Do I need to do bootcamp all over again , will I have fallen out of ketosis? HmmHmm

ChocsandChipsandSealingWax · 29/03/2013 21:01

Ruprekt - just be superstructure the next couple of days and drink loads of water, you'll be fine!

Ooh Mary I had that "potato" salad last time I low carbed a couple of years ago - it's lovely!

ChocsandChipsandSealingWax · 29/03/2013 21:03

Superstrict not superstructure - bloody autocorrect!

FrantasticO · 29/03/2013 21:25

Thanks for the welcome blackaffronted off to research this weekend!
Must do something or I will be in the depths of despair... Apparently DIY jaw wiring is frowned upon so I'm going to really give this a go!
Busy thread with lots of support, sounds great!
Have a great Easter Saturday everyone...I must stay away from the chocolate!

FrantasticO · 29/03/2013 22:07

Have been browsing!
What a fantastic resource biwi has put together, there is so much information.
Now to get my head round the fact that butter is allowed and diet coke isn't.
Makes sense I suppose when you read all the back catalogue of info about insulin spikes and feeling full.
More research to be done, then onward to boot camp!
