Hi All

Wanted to see if anyone is doing one of these or thinking about it. (If there's already an active thread, I missed it).

I have done LL before, lost three stone in 10 weeks and maintained wonderfully until DC's. Eldest is now four and a half and I think I have probably tried everything going, you name it, I've tried it (Paul McKenna, Paleo, 5:2, Dukan, Weight Watchers, etc).

I know that this works for me, although I understand other peoples objections.
I get paid on Friday and will be contacting a CDC to start on Monday. By the time DS1 is five in June, I intend to be pre DC weight again! Grin

Anyone up for it? Or can give me some support or advice? TIA.

Hello can I join in too?! Just completed my first day of the CD. As I am very active I have started on Step 2. I am 5.4 and 11.7lb. Going on holiday in just over 5 weeks so want to be 10 stone!!

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 02:52

Hi scarey welcome!

Do any of you have sneaky weigh ins before a week is past? I find seeing the scales move is a real visual boost but my rl buddy said not to Confused

StairsInTheNight · 16/04/2013 07:52

Hello Scarey. Good luck!

I survived yesterday, stuck to the plan Grin Feeling less hungry today and telling myself it gets better from here. I do feel a bit tired/headachey but I think that will pass.

I have not given up black coffee, hoping it won't affect weight loss. The white wine powder stuff was lovely with lots of ice/ fizzy water, going to get the mulled version next time too!

Hope everyone is feling strong today!

bbpants · 16/04/2013 08:53

Well done all on such a successful Monday!

I am a MASSIVE scales-hopper - and weigh myself every morning when I'm dieting. I find it helps keeps me focussed - if only I did it when I'm NOT on a diet, maybe I'd be better at maintaining!

Feeling good this morning - just had a coffee with skimmed milk. Although I don't cut it out completely, I have tried to cut down and go for peppermint or green tea.

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 09:54

2.4lb off. Bring on day 2! I know it won't be consistently that high, but I'd love to see a 8/9lb loss on Monday next week.

I even survived dc being awake for four hours in the night. I was hungry at that point but I'm not again now - haven't had anything other than water since I woke.

StairsInTheNight · 16/04/2013 13:44

5lbs off! Coudnt resist the scales... we are all doing well!

Just ordered my 2nd pack, determined to get through 2 weeks at least. Getting used to it now. Ordered the boullion and mulled wine mixes too.

bb, how often can you have the bullion? It didnt say- its 2.3 carbs per serving- can't be a free thing?

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 13:53

Just had the macaroni cheese and added some steamed leeks. It was actually quite nice. I'm drinking so much that I'll need to buy some more loo roll later. I had the porridge for breakfast this morning and it was vile. I couldn't even swallow one mouthful! So I binned it and had a chocolate shake instead.

I'm having a really tough time atm so I'm so proud of myself that I'm nearly two days down and I've not wavered once... Be strong girls - we can do it!

Scarey7 · 16/04/2013 14:13

Thank you to everyone who welcomed me! Feels good to be in the same boat and you're inspiring me to keep going too. My weigh in day is Monday too. I have my son's 5th birthday party this Saturday in a function hall at a pub. Before I started the CD I thought it was going to be a good old knees up with the parents too. Now I'm feeling that I don't want to ruin my hard work. Some friends are saying have a day off, you only live once, others are saying not to drink?!? I have a really weak resolve when I'm in party mode so I must try and stay on track. I really want this as I detest myself and my body.

I wish now I hadn't told anyone about the CD so I could have pretended I was on medication or something!

What does DC mean? Something to do with your kids? I am so new to this site!!

Anyway keep going everyone! I know it will be worth it.

I'm not overly keen on the products apart from the bars (only my second day) but am forcing them down. Just had a 0% plain yogurt which was strange but I don't drink milk.

Can I drink diet tonic on Step 2? Thanks everyone xx

DaisyFlower123 · 16/04/2013 14:20

Hi All, Where or what is the spread sheet people keep referring too?
Thanks xx

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 14:21

DC = darling/dear child/children

I was so chuffed last night that I didn't 'fail' and eat at the do. It has given me a really big boost. If I was you, having only just begun I'd be very careful about having a day off. My friend said that after a month or so she'd allow herself 2 x vodka on a big night out with diet coke so I'm planning on drinking no alcohol for a good long while. TBH it can only be a good thing anyway! And like you, I have zilch resolve if a bevvy or two has been consumed...

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 14:22

Weight loss spreadsheet

StairsInTheNight · 16/04/2013 15:16

Hi Scarey! I would stay off the alcohol if you can. Be all virtuous and have fizzy water. Tell everyone its gin & tonic. This is based on me losing the plot when I drink and ending up scarfing chips in the gutter... Grin

I have liked every S&S pack so far, maybe its just because I'm appreciating anything I can eat!

bbpants · 16/04/2013 15:16

Stairs - I'm not sure about the boullion stuff as I didn't like it, so didn't stick with it, but I thought it was sold as a water flavouring and therefore ok to have as much as you want?

You go, Patio!!

WRT alcohol - I stop drinking altogether whilst doing this diet. I remember reading some article that alcohol could affect you really badly if you've been on a VLCD and are in ketosis, so feel it's best avoided. And I miss it, A LOT (!), but I do feel better without it. It must be my age...!

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 16:04

Oh man! So on the way home from school a dc had sweets bought by a friend. She broke a bit off and I popped it in my mouth. AAAAARRRGGGHHH! I suddenly remembered and sat with it in my mouth til we could get home and I could spit it out Grin

When will I remember that no food = no food??!!

StairsInTheNight · 16/04/2013 16:08

I'm impressed you spat it out, patio! That is proper willpower!

Scarey7 · 16/04/2013 16:38

Thank you Patio & Stairs. I'm going to write my weight on my hand so I don't forget!!!

StairsInTheNight · 16/04/2013 19:31

Just wanted to post a couple of recipe ideas for S&S.

Use the curry with grated quick-boiled cauliflower 'rice'.
Use the chili to stuff baked green peppers (spray with fry light before roasting)
Put the chili in crunchy lettuce and pretend its tacos Grin

Just made some sugar free jelly (0.3 carbs) and froze some in an ice cube bag as an emergency pudding. Off to supermarket tommorrow to buy some veg & herbal teas.

DS is eating celebrations... sob!

thepatioislumpy · 16/04/2013 19:40

I am sooo in the zone! I'm so pleased that I have my friend who is doing it with me. We just did another order tonight and we're getting a box between us so that we can take advantage of the bulk buying discount.

I did a ketostix tonight and the colour is already changing to darker pink.

So far I'm really impressed with the foodpacks (apart from the vile porridge) though I'm a little upset that the macaroni cheese is not available. It was quite nice with leeks Sad

However, tomorrow is day 3... My friend said that when she did LL they said after the first week that 5lb/wk was a reasonable loss to expect. I'm so up for that Grin

ForYourEyesYoniBrian · 17/04/2013 08:58

Morning! My pack arrived at 3.30pm yesterday, so I've started this morning - which meant a starting weigh in :( not a pleasant sight.

Still, I feel full of hope (and Cafe Latte Shake which was surprisingly nice!) and off I go...

ForYourEyesYoniBrian · 17/04/2013 09:01

I'm the heaviest on the spreadsheet :(

thepatioislumpy · 17/04/2013 09:12

Go Brian you can do it! I have seriously the least willpower of any person I know and I'm beginning day 3. The vast majority of my diets fail around 11am on day 1 (coincidentally the time I put ds down for a nap!)

I am actually finding this not too hard. I think it really helps that I have an outlet here, and also an outlet with my lovely friend, so I have LOTS of support. I'm not telling anyone else in RL though. I really feel that this time I CAN DO IT! I have low expectations initially - I'd like to get into all my size 14 clothes. I have been saying that is my target for ages, mainly because I have some lovely clothes - some unworn! But then talking to my friend last night she made me realise that a few nice dresses in my wardrobe shouldn't hold me back from being smaller if that's what I want. And she's right. I should stop when I'm happy. If that means I have to bankrupt myself buying a new wardrobe, so be it Grin

thepatioislumpy · 17/04/2013 09:13

Not by much Brian, not by much.

thepatioislumpy · 17/04/2013 12:15

Righto. I've just transferred the measurements sheet from the S&S brochure into a spreadsheet on my laptop and taken very through measurements so I can compare with next week.

I'm now about to try on a whole load of clothes I can't fit into so that I can do that on a weekly basis too - to see how much more nearly I can fit into them. I have a weekend trip planned in about ten weeks to see an old friend and his new DP. I've not seen him in nearly two years (when I was either heavily pg or only just not so) and he's never seen me lighter than about 13st. I am soooo going to make his jaw drop when I see him! I have my outfits planned already...

And as I find things are too big I shall ebay them or charity them immediately as I am never going to be this size again. So, on that note, might I just say right here and now... Monday was the last day I will ever step on the scales and see 214lbs again. Never ever again Smile

I am feeling gooooood about this diet! Smile

ForYourEyesYoniBrian · 17/04/2013 12:50

Thanks for being so lovely patio - just the kind of thing I needed. Are you going to weigh once a week?

DH is coming home for a two week break in Mid July, hopefully that will give me long enough to make a good start.

Had my shake for lunch, now off to do some unpacking.

thepatioislumpy · 17/04/2013 13:03

No worries Smile We all need a combination of a kick up the arse and hugs from time to time Wink Yes, I'm planning on weighing in once a week - my Tuesday sneak peak was a one off. I think one of the ways I can increase my motivation is to increase the anticipation by only weighing once a week but then also by the use of shock tactics (in a good way hopefully!) when I see a good loss each week on the scales.

Just about to sit down to spaghetti bolognese with a handful of rocket stirred in.

I'm aware that I'm treating this thread as my own personal weight loss blog Blush Grin
