Hi All

Wanted to see if anyone is doing one of these or thinking about it. (If there's already an active thread, I missed it).

I have done LL before, lost three stone in 10 weeks and maintained wonderfully until DC's. Eldest is now four and a half and I think I have probably tried everything going, you name it, I've tried it (Paul McKenna, Paleo, 5:2, Dukan, Weight Watchers, etc).

I know that this works for me, although I understand other peoples objections.
I get paid on Friday and will be contacting a CDC to start on Monday. By the time DS1 is five in June, I intend to be pre DC weight again! Grin

Anyone up for it? Or can give me some support or advice? TIA.

Do you think there is anything in the salmon one that would knock me out of ketosis because that's what I am most worried about?

I think with my sister she doesn't actually see herself for her weight. Like she is size 16 so she's not huge but she is overweight by at least 2 stone, if not 3 but she doesn't really see it. She's only 5 ft 2 so doesn't carry it well. On top of that she eats so bad! So I think she looks at me who was a size 10 pre baby, and I am now a 14 and she thinks why would you eat 600 cals a day to lose weight so drastically as she doesn't see me as being fat like she doesn't see herself as being overweight when she is!

I could cry. After being great all week, sticking to the diet and exercising, following a run in and vicious argument with my ex husband yesterday I got stuck into the vino and a Chinese. And them some. Wiped out all my good work. So so disappointed in myself but I was just so so angry and upset I had a huge glass of wine down before you could say VLCD. I should have went for a walk with the dog instead. Came down to the kitchen this morning, not only with a throbbing headache but the carnage was shocking. Two empty wine bottles, Chinese containers, empty crisp packet.... Hate myself for being so weak. I feel horrendous, bloated and disgusting. My face is all puffy. (From crying and wine combo I expect) I got on the scales, I am Heavier this morning than my starting weight!!! Which annoys me cos although I stuck to the diet I mustn't have lost all that much during the week, I probably ate about 4000 calories yesterday between the takeaway and the wine but that would only equate to just over a pound in weight! So plan for today is to eat, very normally and healthily and start again in the morning. I feel absolutely disgusted with myself. Angry Angry Sad

SconeInSixtySeconds · 02/06/2013 08:58

It is water, Don't panic. Have a great big (((((squidge)))). Shall we have a nice swear about your ex to cheer you up? He sounds like a bastard wank weasel. (My ipad is soo polite - it wanted to turn that into wane, I will teach it the bad stuff )

You weren't weak, you are human and that is all. Try and think what you could do if there is a next time. I am relying on watching Black Books or Father Ted on netflix when my dh pisses me off which is quite a lot considering he is on the other side of the planet and I haven't seen him since Easter if I can forget or turn it into positive me time (ye gods how I hate that phrase) then him annoying me sort of turns into a positive experience. :)

Lastly, I don't want to be a schoolmarm but please be careful drinking while doing vlcd, it can make you really ill :(

Pick yourself up, dust yourself down. Creatively swear under your breath. And start again. Flowers

Wowserz129 · 02/06/2013 09:48

Yes it will just be water weight! These things happen, it takes a while to train yourself out of bad habits. The only thing to watch is drinking on a VLCD as it can be very dangerous! Just dust yourself of and get back on it tomoro and hopefully you can erase yesterday from your memory!

bbpants · 02/06/2013 10:08

I agree with the others tenby - it will just be water weight. I'm struggling too and have found that the temporary weight gain disappears after 2-3 days if I get straight back on it.

However, I am STILL out of the mental zone. So cross with myself and really feel quite low about it. Just craving stodge. I'm managing one day on diet followed by one day struggling. I NEED to get back to work to get back to my normal routine.

sammac · 02/06/2013 10:37

Agree with others, don't panic and don't fret about it. Today is a new day.

I agree with the salmon wowser. Citrus can knock you out of ketosis so no bits of lemon in drinks or dressings.

MyJellybean · 02/06/2013 10:39

Morning all. I have almost completed 3 weeks of VLCD (weigh in tomoz) and I have had 1 meal at home and 2 meals out. One was yesterday at a BBQ where I just had some plain pork ribs and green salad. I feel having one carb free meal each week stops me feeling so unsociable and hasn't affected my weight loss.

Wows, I've read a lot of reports on VLCD and there are a lot of health benefits from ketosis. So as long as your VLCD has all the daily nutrients you need I don't see a problem.

TenbyChristmas · 02/06/2013 15:49

You lot are absolutely lovely. Thanks so much for your support. I am and always have been an emotional eater so going to look into some self help books to see if I can get I some techniques to knock it on the head. Took the dog a huge walk this morning and feel clear headed and so much better to start afresh tomorrow. Onwards and downwards!

painforlife · 02/06/2013 16:04

oh tenby sweetheart don't worry we all do emotional eating. I had some and news the other day - one of uncles passed away back home. my dad was in tears & I've only seen him cry like that once before! I got so upset for my dad and we got him an emergency flight out there. I ate like a pig at the airport waiting for his flight to leave (about 3000 cals I'm sure) as I even had a krispy kreme chocolate filled doughnut :'(

one technique that I have picked up through therapy is when ur eating something u know is terrible for you then really look at what your eating rather than just putting it in your mouth straight away. this extra time should allow you to enjoy eat bite. so the theory is then you eat less. I have to admit it has helped me on some occassion obv didn't work on the recent crisis.

ok lovely ladies I need ur help I'm going to placing my order for slim n save vlcd today but I doubt know whether I should get the 3,4 or 5 ????

Wowserz129 · 02/06/2013 16:43

I am a big emotional eater as well. Its such a pain!

Pain, the 3 packs is for if you wish to have a small protein meal every day.

4 packs is when you just want to have 4 packs and nothing else everyday.

5 packs is for over 17 stone and you have your 5 a day or 4 and a protein meal.

painforlife · 02/06/2013 17:39

thanks wowserz for the explanation. I think I'll go for 4 packs as I know if I add a protein it will end up being a big portion. my eyes are always bigger than my stomach!!!

SconeInSixtySeconds · 02/06/2013 18:13

Glad you are feeling better Tenby. I am an emotional eater too, you name it and I have tried it - even had neurolinguistic programming. Which didn't work, so put your pennies away, but did get one useful technique for when you think you want something you shouldn't.

Basically you imagine it in a beautiful bowl topped with 2 of the things that are most disgusting to you. For me that would be tomato soup and lashings of dog hair. Now do you want to eat it? Er. No. This has worked for me in the biscuit aisle at Sainsburys when I remember to do it!

painforlife · 02/06/2013 20:17

so just placed my order and I'm felling so excited about being in control of my weight again :) thank you ladies for providing a step in right direction!

Wowserz129 · 02/06/2013 20:30

Just had some broccoli with the cheesy pasta poured over and it was so lovely! Such a nice change from just bog standard chicken! Going to weigh in on Tuesday morning just so I know how I am doing. Really not getting enough water down, some days it's just 1.5 litres Hmm

painforlife · 02/06/2013 20:33

wowserz129 that will be my main problem not drinking enough water :(

elah11 · 02/06/2013 20:33

First week weigh in tomorrow eek!! I hope I lose a bit to motivate me to keep going. I read a quote somewhere that I have used on myself so many times this week to stop me eating - 'Do I want (whatever yummy thing is in front of me) MORE than I want to lose weight?' and so far each time I have been able to say I want to lose the weight. I think also the fact that I am in ketosis and know the slightest thing could knock me out, and I really really dont want to have to go through those first few days again, definitely influences my decision.

Wowserz129 · 02/06/2013 21:03

I am the same as you Elah whenever i think about going off plan, I think about the hell that was getting into ketosis! I really haven't been very tempted to go off plan yet though, the real test is when DP is here. He eats and eats and says let's get takeaway. He is very supportive about losing weight but he just forgets sometimes.

I know I don't drink enough because I am really busy. I will do stuff and then when I stop for a minute I will drink water but sometimes it takes a whole to get to that point!

MyJellybean · 02/06/2013 21:22

Finally managed to get some exercise in. An hours walk with the dog yesterday and lots of gardening/weeding today. Weigh in for me also tomoz (2 week one cos of Bank Hol), followed by a week adding a meal to my 3packs. Grin

TenbyChristmas · 03/06/2013 08:16

Well that's me back on an even keel hopefully this morning however scales read a whopping 226 lbs Shock really really gutted as today would have been my first weigh in had I not had my massive relapse. I've had a cuppa so far. Am not genuinely hungry so going to wait until I feel it to have my first one. Lets all have a great week Grin

Wowserz129 · 03/06/2013 08:44

Don't worry about it Tenby these things happen. Maybe when you re-start you could try sticking on plan without exercise for the first week or two? I know slim and save say that things like yoga, walks etc are fine but anything more can effect losses. Either way if you get back on it, you will weigh less next week! You did well on getting into ketosis the first time so no reason why it won't be just as okay this time!

elah11 · 03/06/2013 17:19

Week one weigh in and am down 8.5 lbs or 4kgs!!

bbpants · 03/06/2013 17:52

Well done elah!

Wowserz129 · 03/06/2013 19:42

Well done Elah that's a great first loss!

painforlife · 03/06/2013 20:11

well done Elah that's great & inspiring. i can't wait to get started - still waiting for my packs to be delivered :(

MyJellybean · 03/06/2013 21:52

Had my weigh in this evening, lost 7 1/2lb in 2 weeks. That's 15 1/2lb in 3 weeks so very chuffed. Start my week of 3 packs plus evening meal tomorrow. Have planned all my meals for the week so hopefully will stay on track. Well done Elah, I lost 8lb in first week and felt great.
