I'm very glad to hear it!!!
Calories are definitely not equal. Let's imagine you eat the 'normal', 'healthy' diet of a bowl of cereal, with skimmed milk (of course), a glass of orange juice and a slice of wholemeal toast with low fat spread (urgh).
All those calories will do is deliver a massive amount of sugar into your blood stream which means you have to produce a huge amount of insulin to deal with it all. Some of the sugar will supply your immediate energy needs. The rest will go to your glycogen stores, for future energy needs - and the rest (and there will be a lot left over) will be laid down as fat. So even if these calories were from low fat foods, you will still be laying down fat.
Contrast this with a breakfast of, say, scrambled eggs made with butter, a cup of coffee with a splash of cream, and some cheese. Whilst protein does produce some insulin, the levels are much, much smaller. Any sugar that your body does produce from this (which will not be a lot) will be used either immediately, or go to your glycogen stores - which are usually empty when we're low carbing - but in the main, this amount will fuel immediate energy needs.
So these calories aren't laying down fat.
Definitely not equal calories!
