I only did the first one yesterday. I can't even sit on the loo today. It was painful even trying to get on the bus. My thighs are killing me and its really slowed down my walking. Am I doing it wrong?

Day 2 down, I wanted to die at first but halfway through it got easier so hopefully it will get a tiny but easier every day. Still doing the easier press ups, how do any of you do the proper ones!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/03/2013 19:02

I'm on day 8 and still on my knees for press ups. Can't see that changing anytime soon - I don't think I've ever been able to do a full press up properly!

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 04/03/2013 19:08

I tried it (admitedly only a few months after having a baby) and I was so sore and achey the next day I actually thought I was coming down with flu!

HeySoulSister · 04/03/2013 19:09

I'm rubbish with upper body.. Even with just weedy 1 kg weights!

EarlyInTheMorning · 04/03/2013 20:11

And where do you do it? At home? Do you put on gym wear and trainers?

niceupthedance · 04/03/2013 21:01

Definitely wear a good pair of trainers to support your ankles ( and knees).

FairPhyllis · 05/03/2013 01:51

I ached a lot the first three days, as well as any time I have increased my weights, but you do stop aching and build up endurance. I wouldn't say I was unable to move though! What I am doing is staying on Level 1 for aaaages, but keep building up the weights, as my upper body strength is so poor. I can't do the proper press ups either, so I don't think I'm ready to move on to Level 2. I have lost 6 pounds so far combined with watching calories on MFP (been doing it since Jan). And that's with not doing it every single day. My stomach started looking better after about a week or so too.

The only problem is it gets a bit tedious if you are on one level for a long time - I can now quote Jillian's commentary word for word.

I do it at home. I wear gym pants but have bare feet or socks. I also have a mat for the bits you do lying down, but you could probably do it just on carpet.

EarlyInTheMorning · 05/03/2013 06:58

Okay today's the day. I'm doing this, for real.

BambieO · 05/03/2013 09:19

I do it in pyjamas Blush I do change them after when I shower though honest!!! Grin

I think I will also be on my knees for the foreseeable future, I have zero upper body strength. My arms are achy today but I'm glad as they are a real problem zone for me so hopefully they will slim down and tone up. Pain is gain and all that jazz.

monkeychambers · 05/03/2013 13:52

Definately keep at it. The first few days are the hardest.

That said I am on day 14 and have still not gone up to Level 2 - scared! Think I am going to wait until I can do level 1 with the 2kg weights comfortably before going up.

Does it matter if you take longer?

I have lost 7cm around my stomach and 1/2 a stone - so it really does work.

BambieO · 05/03/2013 14:17

That is a fantastic loss and inch loss is amazing! I hope I get similar results, inches off my baby jelly belly would do wonders for my confidence.

It's my arms that are getting me down as well. Have you noticed a difference in them? Mine kill only on day three.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 05/03/2013 15:12

That Jillian is a bitch isn't she :)

I found L2 easier than L1 for some reason.

Try and do it every day, it isn't very long so every day should be do-able. The more consistant you are the less you will ache.....I just do her now if I can't get to the gym but don't feel it like I used to.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 05/03/2013 15:13

However, I would recommend you wear trainers rather than just socks.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 05/03/2013 20:17

2kg weights Shock? That's hardcore!

I've done day 9, level 1 with 0.68 kg weights (precisely!). I'm doing press ups on my knees but can keep going for the whole time that I'm meant to so will stick with doing it that way.

Level 2 for me on Thursday!

monkeychambers · 06/03/2013 09:49

I am so rubbish at the press ups - I don't think I have ever been able to do a proper one, even when much younger and much more fit. I have to do them on my knees and am just getting them right (I think) but oh it hurts!

I have noticed a difference in arms.

Am dissapointed as have a stinking cold now so unable to do anything (apart from eat) so no Gillian yesterday or today by the looks of it.

Iwish - Good luck for Level 2 ! Let us know....

BambieO · 06/03/2013 10:44

I am exactly the same monkey I don't think I will ever be able to do a full press up!

Spamspamspam · 06/03/2013 10:50

Day 7 completed by 07.10 this morning!

BambieO · 06/03/2013 10:54

Well done spam that is dedication :)

BambieO · 07/03/2013 09:25

Day 4 of the shred hurt more than day 3! It's the arms that kill me, I'm fine with everything else (although it is hard I can manage) but when the arm press' come and the press ups it absolutely kills me :(

bacon · 08/03/2013 13:19

I found it near impossible to do it everyday at first - the pain and no free time. I was in agony and absolutely exhausted (I couldn't function) until I decided to do it a couple of times a week and also combining swimming. It took months to get any level of fitness (hadnt done exercise for 15 years) and was nearly 12 stone. It was hard and not as easy as jumping straight into it and getting on with it.

On and off for a while now I'm gaining strength but its been slow for me. I am now doing Davina Intense which is excellent.

Not everyone has the same stamina and dont pressure yourself into 30 days.

bacon · 08/03/2013 13:21

If you want weight lose then dont use heavy weights - I would def concentrate on low weights with good form and control. You'll end up building muscle instead of weight lose.

theoriginalandbestrookie · 08/03/2013 14:14

Well done monkeychambers that is an amazing result.

I have never managed to do 30 days in a row as I do other exercise as well. It's a pretty good all over toning regime so I think you would still get reasonable results if you did it 3-4 days in 7. Anyone else agree with that philosophy?

BambieO · 08/03/2013 14:23

I am hoping some do original as I have just done day 5 and I struggled big time Grin

UmBongo · 08/03/2013 20:32

Just done Level 1 for the first time today, following the "easier" lady. Don't feel too sore yet - tomorrow morning will tell! Although I don't have any weights so was using bean tins (450g). I stopped breastfeeding 4 months ago and forgot to stop stuffing my face, so I now have about 3st to get shot of - although I will take that 1st at a time!

I hope I can keep it up because I am fed up of being overweight.

Spamspamspam · 09/03/2013 09:06

It really is worth sticking with... I have just done day 10 and I can see a difference already! I would wholly recommend a hot bath in the evenings of days 1,2 and 3 it was the only thing that got me through the soreness to carry on.
