Hi! Smile

I decided to start the SW eating plan again after I fell off the wagon 5yrs ago...Blush

Will be joining my local group next Tuesday evening.
I have tried to get back on the wagon many times but this time feels different, I'm at the end of my tether with it and I'm at my shameful heaviest.

My stats: (ConfusedBlushConfused)
Height:- 5'6
Weight:- 20st 9lbs
Age: 28

Anyone wanna join me? Or point me in the direction of an existing thread? xx

And yep, count me in for a roll call!

CherryPie3 · 03/03/2013 17:34

Woohoo!!! [applause]
Every ounce that comes off is an ounce closer to your target!! Well done!!

I'm looking forward to weighing on Tuesday, I've decided to use a different set of scales. I've been using my own but I've decided to make it a weekly thing of going to the chemist and using theirs - you know the ones you put 20p in. So I'm prepared for a variance this week. I'll still weigh myself on my own before I go so I know the rough difference.

When I get on laptop tomorrow I'll start a roll call. What in thinking of putting on is: names, starting weights, target weights, loss so far.... Anything else? Or is that too much?

xx

Well done pirate, good on you! Like Cherry says, every loss is baby step closer to where you want to be.
Sorry i havent checked in for a few days, i havent been able to sign into MN on my laptop or phone for some reason, but i have been reading.
I don't think I've done brilliantly this weekend, and it's weigh in day for me tomorrow, so I fear I've undone all my hard work in the week... The problem is that I've eaten out twice, and not made very good choices, dammit! It's also "star week" (that incredibly cringy slimming world phrase) for me this week which won't help either. However, I live and learn, and tomorrow will be a better day where I starve myself all day before the meetingWink

I think a roll call is a great idea, and the info you suggested Cherry sounds just right to me.

perplexedpirate · 03/03/2013 19:18

Weekends are tough. Sad
Weekdays are easier I think cos you have your routine and you just, kind of, do it. Then weekend convex and it all goes crazy.
Never mind though, it's a new week tomorrow...

picklepepper · 03/03/2013 23:18

You're right pirate, in the week it just sort of..happens..without too much fuss or deliberation, but then at the weekend it is so much harder to stay on track. To be honest, I'm becoming pretty deflated with having weigh ins on a Monday, it just makes any slip ups at the weekend that much harder to bear, as I then berate myself for having so little self control so close to my next weigh in. I'm thinking about changing group to one later in the week, see if that improves my motivation. Plus it will fit in better with boot camp sessions. Or maybe I'm just being soft and need to get a grip of myself and start taking some bloody responsibility?? ...yep that definitely seems like a likely possibility!

CherryPie3 · 04/03/2013 17:03

Afternoon ladies,

I agree weekends can be more difficult to plan meals for. I'm getting my head around it now I think.

A later weigh in might just be the answer for you to enable you to get used to eating differently on a weekend without knocking your confidence. It's just about changing habits isn't it?

I had a challenge at lunchtime today as my mum bought everyone fish and chips to eat at my brothers house. I declined and popped into the closest tesco and bought a batchelors macaroni cheese, a pint of milk (to make it), a banana and a pear. Along with a bottle of diet coke as I had no sweeteners for my coffee. It was difficult to decline the alluring aroma of good old fish and chips though! Very proud of myself, everytime I say no something I know I would really enjoy I feel a little more confident that I can do this.

My food diary today:-
Breakfast: porridge (HExB), chopped banana.
Lunch: as above
Tea: SW chicken curry. (I'll post recipe later) Boiled rice.

Snacks: pear, banana, muller light yoghurt (vanilla and choc bits).

I'll also start the roll call here, when ou log on copy and paste it into your post, add your stats/details and repost. We can build it up that way.
I'm going to add my weigh day on too I think, it's up to you guys if you want to though. :)

Roll Call
CherryPie3 Starting Weight: 20st 9lbs. Start Date: 19th Feb 2013 Weigh Day: Tuesday. Loss So Far: 1 stone.

Is that ok?

Wishing you all a low syn day xx

Edited:

CherryPie3 Starting Weight: 20st 9lbs. Start Date: 19th Feb 2013 Target Weight: 10st(ish) Weigh Day: Tuesday. Loss So Far: 1 stone.

I was playing around with the BMI calculator the other day and for me to have my ideal BMI I'd have to weigh 10st. So that's my target, even if its a hefty one. I can do it, there's no reason why I can't! :)

Hi, please can I join this thread?

I started doing SW at the weekend - did it a couple of years ago but only lost about half a stone before losing heart as I got really pissed off with the group as we kept getting messages saying the scales were wrong so I actually had no idea what I had lost Hmm

However, I do have quite a big appetite so it does appeal to me as I can have big bowls of pasta etc Grin

I am doing it online but I haven't plucked up the courage to weigh myself yet Blush but I think I am about 14 and a half stone, am 5ft 8 and a size 16. My target weight is 12 stone which would take me to a size 12.

The only issue I have is that I do a lot of exercise - generally 4 or 5 classes a week and burn about 600-700 calories each class. However SW doesn't give you 'credit' for these calories (unlike other diets) and I am concerned that I won't eat enough so I am having an extra HE A and/or B on the days that I exercise...no idea if this is the right thing to do but it makes me feel better Wink

perplexedpirate · 04/03/2013 19:23

Cherry, I can't copy and paste. I'm on the app on iPhone. Am I being dim?

Ceebee, if it works and you lose weight, why the hell not?! Grin
I need to do more exercise, but its the old, old, story: not enough time.

CherryPie3 · 05/03/2013 16:42

I'm on the iphone too but the app is mega crap so I use safari and saved the 'threads I'm on' page to my home screen. It looks jut like an app and functions better, you can copy and paste too. :)

Welcome to the thread ceebee :)

I haven't been able to weigh myself today as my scales aren't working and I couldn't get to the chemist either. I'll be weighing myself tomorrow though for definite!

Food diary:-
Breakfast: porridge.
Lunch: jacket potato, margarine and salad.
Tea: will be having pork steaks, smash, veg, gravy.
Syns: 2tsps margarine (2syns), small bag Special K mini breaks (5syns), Ringtons ginger snap (3.5syns).

I've been a bad girl today with syns :(

Hi all, how are we doing?
I'm still having trouble logging into MN on mylaptop and phone, so I can only get on here to post when I can wrangle use of the iPad (usually involving some sort of bribery, haha).
I went to group on Mon eve, and I had lost another 1/2 lb, hardly earth shattering weight loss, but going in the right direction all the same, and pleasing after my crisis of confidence at the weekend. What it did do for me though was show me that I either make the decision to do the plan properly, or not bother at all, as it's a waste of £5 a week to just disregard the plan then expect to still lose weight!
So, had two good days tues and weds, yesterday I had muller light yogurts and raspberries for breakfast, a SW cereal bar for snack, a mug shot for lunch followed by a big fruit salad, lasagne for dinner with a salad. I drank lots of water, and am feeling really positive about my choices. We also are looking after PIL's dog or a week, so I took the dog out for a long brisk walk in the evening too.
Hope everyone is well, who has weighed in so far this week?

I can't figure out how to copy and paste the roll call, so I'm just going to re-write it...

Roll Call
Cherry Pie- Start date: 19th Feb 2013, Weigh day: Tuesday, Starting weight: 20st 9lb, Current weight: 19st 9lb, Loss To Date: 1st.
Picklepepper- Start date: 4th Feb 2013, Weigh day: Monday, Starting weight: 16st 3lb, Current weight: 15st 7lb, Loss To Date: 10lbs.

picklepepper · 07/03/2013 08:57

Oh dear, what's happened to all my italics??!! It took me ages, haha!

picklepepper · 07/03/2013 09:04

Also just realised that I didn't copy the roll call in the right order, AND I've missed out the target weight, damn! I'm really puzzled about those italics, and the fact bold worked for my name, but not for Cherry...

picklepepper · 07/03/2013 09:09

Ledkr · 07/03/2013 09:16

Can I join you please? I need to lose about two stones even three would be nice. I've never recovered from dc5 who is now two and its had such an effect on my sf confidence that I must do it.
I'm doing sw at home but have all the books from past unsuccessful attempts but I also have a big appetite so need to make this work.
I still struggle with the EE concept though. The bit about a third super free.
I just had an egg a slice of wm toast which filled me up then had to force strawberries down for the third. It makes no sense.
Can anyone help me get it.
Thanks xx

picklepepper · 07/03/2013 10:55

Of course you can ledkr, welcome! I think you're supposed to try to have the 1/3 super free food on the same plate as your other food if you can, so that you're filling up on super free food at the same time (therefore eating less non-superfree food). i think. That's how I understood it, therefore if im going to have something where it would be weird to have fruit or veg on the plate too, I have the superfree food first, then have the other food after, and often can't finish it as I've eaten superfree food first.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/03/2013 10:55

you are meant to eat the 1/3superfree with meal and if full then leave the free/synedd/a/b/ food

not eat and be full then eat superfree afterwards - hope this helps x

ie have toms/mushrooms/onions etc with egg on toast

picklepepper · 07/03/2013 11:18

Thanks blondes, I'm glad I've been doing it right. I thought that was the case, but couldn't be 100% sure, but it makes perfect sense.

Ledkr · 07/03/2013 19:56

I get it now thanks.
Last night I made risotto it was lovely and had lots of veg and prawns just stick and a sprinkle of parmesan so mostly free but I ate loads Blush
I'm sure that's not quite right!!
Better portion control since though.
The reason I'm fat in the first place is my big portions. Used to cook for 4dc and and a dh then gradually they all left including dh Grin and now it's just me two tiny dds and new and improved dh.
It's frustrating as I can't tell if I've lost any since Monday because I'm due on and I can gain masses when i am. Literally masses.

Goldensunnydays81 · 09/03/2013 07:17

Please can I join you too! I joined Wednesday and weight 17.13 :( but I am finding it good so far and do has eaten slimming world recipes for the last 2 nights and not noticed!!
What do you eat if you are going out for lunch, I'm going out for an early Mother's Day with my family today, is a jacket potato with beans the best option?

ceebeegeebies · 09/03/2013 08:58

depending on your budget, yes baked beans, jacket potato and salad is a good option or a chicken breast Smile or if you are splashing out, I go for a steak with jacket potato and salad.

Ledkr · 09/03/2013 09:08

Hello all. It's going to be tough today because I am hungover after a mn meet up yesterday. I've eaten some toast already so will have to work hard to stay on track!!
What was lovely though is how much better I felt going out. I've obviously lost a few pounds as my clothes fitted much better.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into my pre pg clothes which are only one size smaller so realistic.
I'm planning on making the sw curry tonight. Too hungover to go to the gym but might have a swim later.
Hope you all resist temptation over the weekend

CherryPie3 · 09/03/2013 10:46

Morning all :)

Welcome Ledkr :)
Do I 'know' you from the antenatal boards? I recognise your nickname. I was on the July and August 2010 threads. G

Morning all,

Good to hear from you all, I was hoping I hasn't been deserted haha. How was your weigh in this week Cherry ?

Of course you can join golden, welcome!

I went to the bootcamp registration last night, we were shown the exercises we're expected to do at home each morning, and weighed/measured, ready for the first session on Monday evening. My only issue is that there is a nutrition plan alongside the Bootcamp, I haven't seen it yet, but one of the ladies there who has attended a week of the last Bootcamp seems to think it's quite a radical eating plan to follow.... My gut feeling is to stick with SW, and use the Bootcamp just for exercise though, surely that should have the same results?

Are you still around Wannabe ?
Happy, healthy day to you all!

CherryPie3 · 09/03/2013 11:09

Oops. Caught wrong button on iPhone... Blush

Great news on recent weight losses :)

Sorry I haven't been on lately, bit of family drama to contend with that will continue for some weeks/months yet. Annoying as it doesn't even involve dh or I but with us being the most sensible we get roped into everything.

Slightly fell off the wagon on Wednesday night when I had 7 ginger snap biscuits with a coffee, 3.5syns each! All good now tho, back on it!
I had to get weighed on Wednesday morning this week as my scales are officially knackered! Went to the chemist and weighed at 19st 9lbs, so I've maintained this week. Trying not to be disappointed as they were different scales and there was almost certainly a variance in comparison to mine. Oh well, I'll be using the chemists from now on so it will be consistent from now on.

Not much to report on food diary, I'm not an exciting eater really but I haven't had any syns since Wednesday. I've been working in the In-Laws sandwich shop/takeaway so surrounded by deep fried stuff and cheeseburgers! Luckily they do jacket potatoes too so that's what I've been eating :)
The shop just smells vile to me now! No temptations whatsoever, not even chocolate

Dh has hopped onto the SW wagon now too, kind of! He has Crohn's disease so can't have anything with a high fibre content as it makes him seriously ill. But he's doing everything else with me. The kids are loving all the SW cooking and even my mum spent a whole day writing down my SW recipes Grin.

Pickle if you want I will keep a copy of the roll call saved to my laptop with all the stars and triangles in the right places, then just update and post as necessary. It's a bit of a pain putting all the symbols in all the time isn't it? I did this on our antenatal thread

GoldenSunny Welcome to our thread :)
When we go out I generally get a jacket potato with a smidge of margarine and lots of salad. Bit of salt and pepper - perfect :)
Beans are a super speed food too I think?

Got to dash at the minute, the family drama calls.... Hmm

Be good :)
