I F - 5:2 - 4:3 - Maintaining the healthy weight

TalkinPeace2 · 01/02/2013 16:59

This thread is for those who have been doing IF for quite a while and are now at or nearing their target healthy weight.

How do we experience fasts and balance a stable food intake while having little or no weight to lose?

How to we ensure that this WOE does keep us at the healthy weight long term rather than revert to yoyo games?

I have now been at the same weight for a month. I'm happy with that. I'm also still enjoying the 24 hour fasts because of the clear mindedness I get during them.

How about you?

Thanks, Molly and welcome back!

I've been spending my nights in NZ recently, and not enjoying it particularly!

Meaning I've been staying up until 5am listening to England not playing cricket very well! Sad

(Sorry, off-topic a bit!)

AmericasTorturedBrow · 25/03/2013 14:57

There's always me to chat to!

Breadandwine · 25/03/2013 15:11

Of course, ATB, thanks!

Only one more night to go, and, judging by the state of the game I could have an early night! [gloomy]

Just found out I can't seem my doc until 4th April, so those blood results will have to wait until then! Sad

On the upside, my MIL can't get enough of my buns! Wink

No, not those sort - my hot cross buns! Grin Just making another batch now - in the middle of a 24 hour fast! [saint]

Only three hours to go then I'm eating normally again - tempura for dinner (deep-fried sausages and mushrooms and polony) NOT calorie counted! Grin

AmericasTorturedBrow · 25/03/2013 15:35

We should help each other out a bit more on the evening/middle of the night munchies!

Was going to be a juice day today...I totally forgot and had walnut and raisin bread with spicy black bean houmous for breakfast. And two cups of coffee Hmm

catsrus · 25/03/2013 16:12

Polony! Blimey not heard of that in decades - I used to love polony :-)

Fasting today after a delicious weekend - decided I should really start wearing all the smart clothes I've had in the wardrobe for 7-8 yrs (since the last time I was this size) and guess what? The size 12s are too big Shock Grin! I seem to have really lost on the bottom (in more ways than one) as the 12-14 tops are ok and the smart jacket is fine. I was ruthless with some 16 tops though - into the 'give away' bag :-)

Talkinpeace · 25/03/2013 16:55

Hi all,
Fasting today - and in that amazing clear head space at around 3pm cracked a problem at work that has bugged me for two years!
Am buffing my nails (when I fold my cuffs back off my hands cos its SO DARNED COLD)
I'm on holiday next week so this thread will just have to survive till I get back - but it ambles along at a nice gentle slimline pace.

Dropping clothes sizes is definitely fun : and when you get down to 10 the charity shops have more nearly new designer stuff .... not that I'm a tightwad mind Wink

AmericasTorturedBrow · 25/03/2013 23:24

I have several dresses that I love but are too big on me now - should I just get them all altered? A bit afraid too in case I end up putting weight back on, which is a silly thought as this is now my WOE but I have the fear.,.

Breadandwine · 26/03/2013 00:11

Fear not, ATB, your sylph-like shape is now with you for life! Smile

You're in control now, don't forget! Grin

Starting to get a bit peckish, now, but I'm not sure what I want.

Sweet is no problem - I can make a chocolate cake in 7.5 minutes, I have Chelsea buns, hot cross buns, chocolate, chocolate covered marzipan (can you see a theme developing here?) all to hand.

But, I fancy a glass of wine to keep me company, and that means savoury. Unusually for me I don't have any leftovers to use up. I could do some oven chips for a chip butty, or have a mini fry-up - in fact that's what I'll do.

Vegan fry-up - polony, sausage, mushroom, tomatoes, spicy baked beans and chips - with some posh fried bread (fried in EVOO Wink). All washed down with a draught of my lovely homemade red!

Beats your salad, any day, ATB! Grin

NurseEzzzaChapel · 26/03/2013 07:51

Thanks for mentioning the Green & Blacks dark choc and chilli TiP, that one's best eaten by sucking it to get the full flavour hit. I can eat that one cube at a time which I great for only c. 18 kcal per cube!

mumofcrazynamedkids · 26/03/2013 12:43

off topic alert - sorry!

ok, 2 on the same rd, I've offered 140 on heh doer-upper (they have declined saying they want 150), and 166 on the done one. my ma reckons I should offer 145 on the doer upper, if the done up one say no, (they are still thinking) but I am now thinking of buying a 1/2 bed flat in london (walthamstow I can afford) and rent it out and use the income to rent up north, and that way give myself a foot back in london if i decide i miss london too much!

what do you think? the 1960's was horrid, tiny overlooked garden and felt like it was in an estate full of young single parents. (I know that sounds snobby, but there you have it!)

fasting out the window for this week, and possibly next week too methinks!

Talkinpeace · 26/03/2013 12:50

I prefer the doer upper
but the ready to go is OK.
I like to stamp my own taste on places and with the £16k difference you could do new kitchen, bathrooms, lick of pain and insulation ... I take it the bedrooms are a bit sad so no pictures.

mumofcrazynamedkids · 26/03/2013 13:56

Hi tip I usually like to do a place up too, but what you can't see is that the whole house is dark yellow with nicotine, so all walls need stripping, all flooring needs replacing, walls are not solid upstairs, so will likely need replastering - and possibly rewiring as old style single fuse box, and there is a bloody big concrete garage in the garden right outside the kitchen window, that you can't actually drive a car to anyway and blocks the view of the garden entirely. the garden is shorter than the other and is north west facing rather than south east. lets see, i'm expecting a call back very soon, on the ready to go.

virginposter · 26/03/2013 14:04

I think that the 'done' one looks lovely but you could still improve it gradually with paint, wallpaper etc to your own taste. It looks very liveable from moving in, not any garish colours that would ve hard to live with.
Maybe with all the stress of moving etc etc this may be the easiest option.

AmericasTorturedBrow · 26/03/2013 14:31

If you're considering buying something to rent in London Id go with the easy option too - you can still stamp your mark but less stressful, and the garden sounds better!

Laska42 · 26/03/2013 22:36

Yo people! Laska has entered the building (I am still alive!) . We moved DS into his new flat today ( rented & HB but has still cost me an utter fortune (and maybe more to come) in agents fees and guarantor agreements etc .. Ah well ..I live in hope of him finally doing something with his life..

But Hooray! I got the first chapter of my final course assignment in today (UEA creative writing course.. v expensive and i've been stressing about not participating enough recently nor finishing it in time).

ah yes..fasting.. ho hum.. NOPE, well several half fasts .. I'm pleased to say I'm actually a couple of pounds down , but I think that is due more to stress than 5:2!..

Off to Copenhagen for a family party weekend.. (its even more bluddy freezing there, but at least being Scandinavia , its expected.) .

Good to see the positive vibes on here still.. ill definitely need to get back into serious 5:2 after the weekend I think so will be looking for some to come my way if any are going spare ..

Have a great Easter (or PC equivalent)
Lx

Talkinpeace · 26/03/2013 22:43

Yo! High Five! Laska!
Glad you got DS sorted - let me know when you want to meet up at IKEA and we can hijack a trolley all the way back to the ferry!

but I have to get my week in Crete out of the way first Grin

AmericasTorturedBrow · 26/03/2013 23:21

Yay welcome back Laska!

I have a break coming up too - two friends visiting for nearly two weeks, usual "problem" of whether to explain it to them and therefore stick with it (though I've been crap recently) or just miss the occasional meal and ride it out!

virginposter · 26/03/2013 23:55

Yes Laska good to see you back - hope your son gets settled at last.

Or listen to it here, someone on the fast diet website says it's better if listened to.

mumofcrazynamedkids · 27/03/2013 12:31

hurah ready to go house is mine!

so in celebration i am fasting today, no excuse to be stressed for a change.

Just have to talk to my boss, think he's in tomorrow!

thanks for all your thoughts, i agree it needs making mine, theres lots I will want to change in time, but it's all perfectly liveable with for now, and will give me the time I need to settle the children into a new school and starting to make new friends.

laska well done on sorting your DS, that must be a weight off your shoulders, even if it adds a weight to your purse, great news on extra weightloss despite non fasting too! Enjoy Copenhagen, sounds like you deserve it after being so busy.

americas do you still think friends might be critical of this WOE? it's becoming more mainstream, people I tell alwasy initially look surprised when i say fasting, but when they realise I eat 500 cals they seem to relax and think it's ok, and particularly when they see me tucking into whatever I like on non-fast days!

so i finish work at 1.30 tomorrow and then I'm off for 11 days, so pleased, although now thinking i may have to start packing soon?

tip cyprus warm sunny holiday sounds fantastic, i am very green, maybe next year that'll be me. Will you still fast while on holiday?

anyone else any lovely holidays planned?

mumofcrazynamedkids · 27/03/2013 12:33
