Can't link to this from old thread but thought I'd start a new one as the old one was getting full and kept crashing my kindle.

Which book is this Tea (sorry if being thick)? I'm wondering whether I could manage it. I suspect not. Sad

DoubleMum · 08/02/2013 10:57

Ooh a childfree weekend! I'm away again next weekend (with vikings) but will have children again. Have realised I didn't really plan this month very well ...

RandallPinkFloyd · 08/02/2013 11:32

Right, that's radio silence til Monday now. Apparently the cottage doesn't have wifi Hmm

Anyway I'll shall try to log as accurately as possible so I at least know what to expect at my next weigh-in!

Have a great weekend chiefs, keep choosing your hard Smile

DoubleMum · 08/02/2013 11:59

Have fun Randall

BsshBossh · 08/02/2013 12:00

dinkydoos yes I was on 5:2. Like Tea I save all my 500 cals for the night-time as I like eating a proper hot dinner with DH and I hate going to bed hungry. So a proper long fast (to maximise the health benefits). Lots of people spread their calories out during the day but I find once I start eating my appetite is stoked up. I find it truly liberating to be able to eat normally on non-fast days (though not over my TDEE if I can help it).

DoubleMum, The Fast Diet is the main 5:2 book which explains all the science behind it and the health benefits. It's quite cheap at the moment.

The original Horizon broadcast on it is here.

Anyway, enough of my blethering about it - I'm on the 5:2 thread here - have a read and you can ask loads of questions. The previous thread was excellent and worth reading through too.

Lizzylou OMG a childfree weekend with your DH. I hope you enjoy your filthy weekend Grin. And what a goal - 10km! That is really inspirational.

Randall enjoy your boozy weekend :)

Tabby well done about the jeans!

DoubleMum · 08/02/2013 12:22

Thanks Bssh, I've ordered it (which is naughty as I shouldn't be spending money)

BsshBossh · 08/02/2013 12:54

And while you're waiting for the book, DoubleMum, watch the original BBC programme on it. I haven't actually read the book (have got it though!) but watching the programme convinced me. I'm not just doing it for weightloss but for the health benefits as heart disease, cancer and Alzheimers runs in my immediate family (and I had cancer a few years ago too... completely better by the way... but a big reason why I ballooned in weight).

DoubleMum · 08/02/2013 14:22

Bssh I see what you mean, I just watched it and it is very convincing. When I have some time tonight I shall spend some time reading the 5:2 threads.

BsshBossh · 08/02/2013 14:51

Perhaps I'll see you on the 5:2 thread (number 12 now!) soon DoubleMum. My take on anything is try it (for two weeks at minimum) and see how you get on.

WiseKneeHair · 08/02/2013 19:59

Well done Bssh great loss.
Very jealous of the weekends away, with or without DC. At least I'm not working this weekend, so will enjoy and try not to end up eating out
I am ONE calorie over today, or at least I will be after I've eaten my chocolate and drank my wine. I had to do extra exercise to even get to that as I ate a piec of cake and had one finger of a twirl this afternoon for no good reason.

DoubleMum · 08/02/2013 20:11

I have 300 calories left. I need something else ... what to have I wonder?

BsshBossh · 08/02/2013 20:12

Ice cream!!

WiseKneeHair · 08/02/2013 20:22

I suggested wine and chocolate on MFP, but just because that's my favourite treat, doesn't mean it's everyone's.
Are you actually hungry? If not, do you need to use them? I've had a few days recently with a reasonable number of calories left, but I have left them. Then, when I have a hungrier day, like today, I am not so worried about being over/almost over.

BsshBossh · 08/02/2013 20:28

Good point WiseKneeHair, Double you could always save those cals for the weekend.

DoubleMum · 08/02/2013 20:33

I'm a little hungry, but not ravenous. Perhaps I should leave it a while and see if it goes away. No wine, wine is banned at the moment! (DH has given it up so am doing the same in support - it's a much bigger deal for him than me so I don't want wine in the house at the mo)

buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 09/02/2013 09:46

I did a fast day yesterday (did well on 5:2 before Xmas but haven't got back into it since) and felt great up until about midnight when I went to bed. Woke up this morning with - do you know those black spots with sort of coloured lights floating around them that you see just before you faint? Well those. And I was still lying down!

Anyway I've had a big cup of tea and 2 buttered hot cross buns (one wasn't enough) and feel lots better. But that's like eating today's and yesterday's breakfasts together which sort of feels like defeating the point of yesterday's fast... oh well, I'll just go with it, consciously try not to trough and see what happens Grin

Good luck to us all this weekend, with whatever delicious evil diet traps it may bring!

That sounds a bit yuk Buzzy. I got the book this morning so I will try to have a read later, although I have a large rabbit hutch to build this weekend ...

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 09/02/2013 17:19

Feck. My snacking is waaaaaay out of control today. Raspberries, almonds and olives were a really good start. However the crisps, chocolate and two hotcross buns were not a good follow on!

I need to shred otherwise I will be massively, massively over and I might eat the toddler if he stays still long enough

DoubleMum · 09/02/2013 17:55

Lock up the toddler!!

buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 09/02/2013 21:29

If you start looking at your toddler's legs and thinking "mmm, drumsticks" possibly best to have another hot cross bun Tea Wink

OP posts:
WiseKneeHair · 09/02/2013 22:17

Is your toddler still safe Tea? Grin Hope you shredded instead.
Managed to go to the cinema today and just have a coffee.
Then almost killed myself doing level 1&2 of extreme shed and shred.
Guess you could call that a successful day.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 09/02/2013 23:00

Well done Wise!

The toddler is safe - I did level 1 & 2 shred to keep his chunky little legs and pot belly safe.

I have eaten more today than I have on all 4 fast days I've done put together Shock but tomorrow I will walk and move about lots to get me focused and back on track!

Oh the shame of a binge!

BsshBossh · 09/02/2013 23:13

Tea how are your weekly cals doing? Even 3000+ blowout days can be compensated for on other days remember.

BsshBossh · 09/02/2013 23:14

*3000+ calorie days

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 10/02/2013 10:27

I'm not sure Bssh I don't look at them. I know there's a bit of wriggle room on 5:2 because I tend to eat about 1400 on the days after fast. So I think yesterday will be okay. I'm not expecting a massive loss this week as I suspect my binge was inspired by mirena hidden AF so am expecting to stick at about last week's weigh-in for next couple of weeks.

It's weird because I feel guilty about the bad snacking and those hot-cross buns in particular. In my head I assume a more indulgent Sunday, not Saturday and Sunday which I think is what's going to happen this weekend! Oops!
