Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Morning all,

Very happy birthday to msrinky and valdeeves have a brilliant day! And a warm welcome to any newcomers.

Feeling brilliant, I'm down 10lbs today from 7th and have so much more energy and motivation to actually do things. Going to tackle my wardrobe that is bursting with mainly clothes I haven't worn for years and get rid of most of it. I've been meaning to do this for the last 3 years Blush but have been too lazy busy.

penny don't feel disheartened. I noticed I lost most of mine last week in the first 4 days and then only a pound in the next 3 and 3.75 in a week is a v good loss!

thatgirlsevil · 17/01/2013 09:35

Ooh and HB to MsRinsky and valdeeves Thanks.

gloriafloria · 17/01/2013 09:37

thatgirlsevil yes I agree I keep telling myself too step away from the scales. Seriously think I'm going to lock them away somewhere so they only come out on Monday. I'm sure that half is just a blip with the scales.

Lavenderhoney · 17/01/2013 09:38

Saw my doc today and he said although I have lost weight, very good, it's not moving from my tummy. He said I need to work on that which will be harder for me with cs history. I said I used to do Pilates and he giggled! And said yes but when did you stop? Forcing me to admit it was a long time ago..

But the woe was ok for me he said, so onwards and back to the shred thread for me, though will just use it for exercise support as I need to look after my back a bit and do stretches. Loads of water today. I find it easier now I have a big glass when I get up. Sets me up for the day.

NoelHeadbands · 17/01/2013 09:40

Happy Birthday MsR and valdeeves Thanks

Cold start here- waiting for the nice British Gas man to fix my boiler . I don't do cold very well, I want a hot sugary tea and several rounds of toast Sad

skandi1 · 17/01/2013 09:43

Halfthesize. Yes it is. I imagine it is very effective as a form of torture. After a bad night with DS, I would cheerfully confess to Anything if I could go to bed for 12 hours. Sad but true.

It sadly also makes me a bad mum and wife as I am too tired to really do anything sensible other than exists. It's so bad sometimes that I can't actually talk. But hey you all know what I am talking about here.

Will stop whining and attempt entertaining the DC.

halfthesize · 17/01/2013 09:57

I have a DS2 who is nearly 4 and he was a nightmare sleep wise for 18months, he is still not consistent, but its a lot better now. I know what you mean re feeling like a bad parent/wife but I'm sure your not.

You just have to do what you can to get through, with me that entailed a lot of co sleeping for first 18 monthsHmm I know its frowned upon but it got me through. I had 2 other DC to also deal with and 2 hours sleep a night is a killer.

I really hope things improve for you soon Thanks

breakfast here was coffee and cream as no appetite.

halfthesize · 17/01/2013 09:59

last message for skandi sorry forgot to say.

Hope everyone has a great day, its nearly the weekend and more snow on the way, my DC are super excitedGrin

Doshusallie · 17/01/2013 10:01

Happy Birthday Mrs R and Valdeeves!

NoveltySlippers · 17/01/2013 10:15

Happy Birthday hoorays for MsR and Valdeeves!

And MsRinky - I am sooooooo Envy at going to Hestons. Did you see the last Masterchef final where they went to the Fat Duck? It was honestly the most amazing Masterchef I'd ever seen. Am sure other place will be just as fab - without the nitrogen!

Skand1 I don't have roseacea but I'm a big fan of Green People and I saw on their website they have a special page dedicated to roseacea. Might be worth a look? www.greenpeople.co.uk/rosacea-skin-care-products.aspx

BigStickBIWI · 17/01/2013 10:38

Penny - 3.75lbs in a week is a brilliant loss! Ongoing, sustainable weight loss should be around 1-2lbs, and you have way exceeded that.

Don't be put off by other people's losses. This isn't a competition

And if it's your TOM, you are likely to find it harder to lose.

Just keep on keeping on. You are doing a great job.

Happy birthday MsR and Valdeeves!

I do not want snow. DS2 has an AS re-sit tomorrow and has to be at college for his exam at 9am. He's at 6th form college which is a good 20 minutes drive away from here, or a short train journey - but roads/rail usually go to pot when the snow comes.

Oh no! Fingers crossed for you no snow tomorrow BIWI.

NoelHeadbands · 17/01/2013 10:57

I just made this cheese and ham Thing.

I arranged slices of cheese in the frying pan to form a slice of bread shape Blush then placed on top some slices of ham, and dollops of mayo. Then I put cheese slices on top and fried. To make a fried cheese sandwich, if you will Smile

Anyhoo, it didn't work so don't anyone try it. It didn't hold its shape and I ended up having to scrape it out of the pan onto the plate. It was just a big greasy cheesy and ham and mayo LUMP

what's not to like

NoelHeadbands · 17/01/2013 10:58

Am also not wishing for snow.

NoveltySlippers · 17/01/2013 11:05

haha - love the experimentation though Noel! At least you tried Smile

BigStickBIWI · 17/01/2013 11:10

Somebody was asking - can't remember who, I'm sorry, nor if it was this thread - what I meant when I referred to three nutrients. I meant fat, protein and carbohydrates.

MsRinky: I went to Dinner by Heston for lunch for my birthday back at the end of November. It was amaze balls. Very pricey though. I was also low-carbing at the time and I think I managed quite well. DH and I had the Rib of Hereford Prime (is for 2) that came with triple cooked chips. I didn't have any of the chips (or perhaps one or two tops) and ordered a side of Green beans and shallots instead.

I then went and killed the rest of the afternoon in Harvey Nicks. A dream day.

I hope you have a lovely time. Tell us what you went for!

NoelHeadbands · 17/01/2013 11:14

Oh I'm definitely a trier Grin

I'm always amazed by some of the fab recipes that other people manage to come up with, just wish I could come up with something myself! I'm not actually a bad cook, but I think Heston's safe

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/01/2013 11:52

I just had a very late brunch of pancetta cubes fried until crispy topped with two fried eggs. Followed by fried halloumi followed by a little gem lettuce!!!! Delish!

NoveltySlippers · 17/01/2013 12:15

Hmm. Sounds lovely MrsHP.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 17/01/2013 12:42

Highly recommend this snack - sushi nori wraps with tuna and cucumber (I have done slivers of a bit of tuna steak I am having for supper, sushi style, but it would be good with tinned too I reckon).

Having it with fennel tea with generous spoon of coconut oil, for the fat. Have to say I'm not quite convinced by the coconut oil in fennel tea (it's fine, and a good way of getting extra fat, but a bit meh) - maybe it would be better in chai tea - will try and report back.

NewStartSameStory · 17/01/2013 12:52

uberalice I am still walking around without a coat. Admittedly I am aclimatised to it but I am feeling the cold less then last year too. Unfortunately for me I have reynaulds and if I can't feel the cold it causes me more problems cos I get cold without feeling it. Having a few issues with chill blanes as a result. Mind you I still don't own a coat so I am my worst enemy.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 17/01/2013 13:03

ChoosandChips - I second the sushi nori with tuna and cucumber! Love how if you make it straight out of the pack you get a nice bit of chew from the nori. Yum! Grin

Im doing the beef casserole tonight (didnt do it yesterday) I have to leave at 3 to get the kids, would gas mark 3 for 2 hours do, then another hour when I get in? Or should it be on gas mark 1 now until 3, and then when I get back in?

Really need to get a slow cooker! Cant afford to at the moment though, and the bloody kettle is on its way out too.....

FurryDogMother · 17/01/2013 13:09

Hello again all! Am envious of you lot not feeling the cold - having lost 1/3 (ish) of my body weight, I am most definitely feeling it, without my insulating fat layer. This from someone who lives without central heating!

Also, to those trying to lose from the tummy area - I'm an apple shape, and the first 3 stone came off everywhere apart from my tummy - I got slimmer legs, smaller boobies, even thinner fingers (my rings got loose), but still the tummy stayed there. It's only in the post-Christmas period (and this may have something to do with giving up the booze) that it's begun to deflate. I think that's where my remaining 17 lbs are sitting! It's actually really strange to look down and not see it there...

We're going out for Sunday lunch this weekend, and I'm looking forward to the starter, which is pan fried scallops with crispy pancetta and a cauliflower puree. Perfect low carb fare - plus the recipe is on the restaurant's website, so I can try it myself at home afterwards. I'll probably go for roast pork belly for the main course, with lots of veggies on the side - can't wait!

Doshusallie · 17/01/2013 13:40

2 bacon 2 fried egg on buttery roasted red cabbage for lunch. It rivalled yesterday's lunch! have found I can also drink my tea black now.........
