I had my hypno gastric band 'fitted' by Paul McKenna last night...

...so far so good! Admittedly its not even 11am yet, but I havent eaten my snacks which are sitting on my desk and not even tempting me! Normally I don't allow myself anything till 10am, then I pounce!

I am doing this in conjunction with weightwatchers, which Paul McKenna would not approve of, since he despises 'diet clubs' (boy does this come through loud and clear in his book).

However since I don't know the man personally, and I feel I need the WW sessions for support, I am carrying on with pro- pointing and hoping that my gastric band will provide the backup I need to not binge and eat more than my body needs.

I've been (back) on weightwatchers for several months now and failed miserably because I am both a compulsive eater and a (hopefully) reformed bulimic.

I'd like to think this will help me - and I'm willing to try it because I am now as heavy as I was just after I gave birth to DS2 3 years ago (my heaviest, unless you count when I was 40 weeks pg!)

If anyone is interested I will report back :)

Hey all. Just wanted to pop my head round the door to say thankyou! This thread persauded me to get my hypno gastric band. I have lost 10 lbs in two weeks. I have completely retrained myself. I think three pregnancies (one of which ended in mc) within three years, breastfeeding DD1 and some serious health issues which caused comfort eating completely broke my ability to feel when I was full. I used to overeat in pregnancy to stop feeling sick and I used to overeat when bf because everyone told me to. I think this may have fixed me! So thanks!

buildingmycorestrength · 02/03/2013 11:14

Cupcake1982 · 02/03/2013 17:55

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining you! I've just bought this book and had a good read and now I can't wait to get started :) I have done the original pm in the past but have always slipped up after a week or so. Any hints or tips gratefully appreciated :)

Pinupkeza · 02/03/2013 23:16

educatingarti · 02/03/2013 23:23

I'm not sure it is helping me but I'm finding it very hard to eat consciously!

Pinupkeza · 03/03/2013 16:26

Just fitted my band, just wondered, are people listening to it everyday or just the once, I know he says once a month but I'm used to having to listen either everyday or once a week for hypnosis, any help from what anyone else is doing would be helpful, thank you smiley face:

Cupcake1982 · 04/03/2013 11:27

Morning :) i have just fitted my band!!!!!

Schooldidi · 04/03/2013 11:33

Hi everybody, I hope you don't mind me joining you. I fitted mine a few weeks ago and I've lost a bit of weight but not as much as I expected.

I have to admit that I am finding it very hard to 'eat consciously', as so many of the times I am hungry are at times I am busy as well. And only eating when I'm hungry is difficult when I'm at work as well. I can only eat at break times at work, so what if I am not hungry at 12:30/1pm but I know I won't get another chance to eat until 4pm ish. That's quite a long time to go when I might be hungry by 2, so I would be starving by 4pm. How do you manage these rules when you are restricted with times you can eat?

Pinupkeza · 04/03/2013 12:18

=Schooldidi you could always try having a flask of home made soup in a flask, if your allowed a drink no one will no it's soup lol or even a mug shot, I fitted band yesterday and although I ended up having my Sunday dinner in 2 sittings and leaving some I tested my self and ate a packet Jaffa cakes, just to see how it wud make me feel, just felt bad tbh lol so lets see how the rest of the week goes, have weigh in at Sw Thursday, and I'm going to do the cd every other day xxxx

Schooldidi · 04/03/2013 12:22

That won't work either pinup. Thanks for trying though. I'm a teacher and the same rules apply for us as the kids, so in the classroom we are only allowed water in a clear bottle, no other food or drink outside of the canteen/staff room.

Cupcake1982 · 04/03/2013 13:49

Well day 1 is going well, I ate a lot less lunch than usual as I had an odd pain in my tummy - v strange!
I would love to hear some success stories to keep me going! :)

Pinupkeza · 04/03/2013 19:20

Well how odd lol, breakfast only managed half slice whole meal toast n a few beans, lunch I just felt like strawberrys n muller light and for tea made a lovely veg curry and ate a few mouthfuls and the rest is now cling filmed up and in microwave, not thought about food really and didn't even nibble when I was cooking, xx

buildingmycorestrength · 04/03/2013 19:40

Hasn't made a massive difference, if I'm honest. I am trying to eat more consciously, at the table on mny own, and am not thinking about food quite so much, but am eating my normal portions without feeling particularly full. Will listen to it again, I think.

frumperina · 04/03/2013 19:42

3 weeks in and lost 2kg after one week and another 2kg the second week. Then I found out I am pregnant Grin , haven't lost anything in the last week. I think it will still be ok to continue though as I'm not dieting as such, just not eating rubbish all the time which can only be a good thing really.
I think I will listen to the CD again tonight, I have been slipping a bit in the last few days.

Oli4lolly · 04/03/2013 21:59

hi ladies hope you dont mind me joining you, i bought my paul mckenna as an ebook on my iphone, i read it over 2 days and when i went to have my 'band' fitted i just couldnt fall into a trance. did anyone else have this problem? or any ideas on how i could fall into one?
any feedback would be mucho appreciated Grin

Pinupkeza · 04/03/2013 22:16

Well iv decided I'm going to do the cd everyday if possible, as the more you do it the better you go into the trance xx

Fairygen · 05/03/2013 09:07

Schooldidi · 05/03/2013 12:19

Congratulations Frumperina

pollywollydoodle · 05/03/2013 21:28

do you mind if i join you?
i've been lurking for a bit and have finally bought the book

i've been going to weightwatchers for about 18 months and combining it with ICMYT, lost about 25 lb and got to goal last summer. i liked the way my anxiety around food decreased with listening to the cd but also the supportive group i know through ww.when i got to goal i was eating a generally healthy diet, generally stopping when i was comfortably fulland had a bit of what i fancied foodwise and didn't feel deprived

I stopped PMing and my has weight crept up over winter. Since then i've been having trouble focussing and getting the 5lbs WW allow you over goal back off, and losing the extra 7lbs on top of that i wanted to lose.

i need to get back in that frame of mind again

Fairygen · 06/03/2013 09:38

Hi all, well, nearly a month on HGB and was doing really well, apart from one binge slip up.

This week though I've been feeling really rubbish, tired and also look terrible. My skin is so dry and i wear so much moisturiser to bed, i'm worried i might slide out!! A member of my family has also commented on how 'rough' i look!!

Not sure if it's just a bug or the fact I'm not eating enough. Before I started this, I was on a high protein , low carb diet and eating (i'm not joking) 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, at least. Now I'm struggling to eat 2 or 3 if I'm lucky.

Time for some action I think! Although my meals are healthy, I've decided to make them mainly veg based for a few days to see if that helps.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Perhaps it's just a coincidence

Fairygen · 06/03/2013 18:28

@oli4lolly, I listen to the CD about once a week and haven't gone into an actual trance once. I find it just really relaxes me, and I'm totally aware of what's going on around me. I don't worry about it too much because it's still working.

Cupcake1982 · 07/03/2013 11:48

Morning ladies,
I am on day 4 and so far so good! I'm starting to feel hungry ready for lunch but I really don't know what I fancy????
Does everyone eat whatever they fancy ie kit kat for lunch??? :)
