Doh, I wish I'd read that before I went to Aldi! Not looking forward to snow (if it happens).

GetOrf · 17/01/2013 16:27

Thanks everyone for kind words.

Have down loaded the Good Food App as both DH and I are MFPing then cooking and freezing for us both seems like a useful thing to do. That ginger lime chicken looks delicious.

I've been so hungry today. I managed really well until about 3pm when I went almonds, 2 bits of chocolate ... ah feck it .... cake. Not good. Feel bad about it as I've got a treat tea this evening - macaroni cheese - I just hope that I'll use the hour when DS is training at the pool constructively and manage 50 minutes not to have to be rescued in front of all the young athletes swim. I've never swum in a 50m pool. In fact, I haven't been swimming for five years except on holiday when I was mainly holding a toddler in the water. If I drown this evening I wish it to be known to all that I was a pound lighter than yesterday at the weigh in and probably needed new scales

Wise I will second what spamm says about the gym. I had a membership I didn't really use but when I got serious about weight loss but wasn't really getting the progress I wanted I went to a trainer. I am not understating this ... she changed my life. Honestly, she taught me how to use the gym, gave me tips on diet, encouraged me to go. I only saw her every couple of weeks for six months but it was the best money I've ever spent. I can see the difference in my body from just eight days effort this time because of what I learnt from her.

Chiefs of Losing I salute you

Herecomesbod · 17/01/2013 17:15

Just running in quickly to say if you have snow this weekend and are able to get out and about, sledging for 30 mins will burn 262 cals, according to MFP. Who knew?

Also, we bought an xbox kinect 3 years ago which has barely seen the light of day. DH is currently doing some kind of sports thing on it but I am planning on having a go at Dance Central later on. Wonder how many cakes I can have for that?

Runs out again to feed neglected baby

CarriedAwayAnnie · 17/01/2013 17:25

I have 400 calories left today.

I can't see me using them even though MFP is telling me off.

Notfootball · 17/01/2013 17:26

Good idea about sledging Herecomesbod, I wonder how many calories you burn for dragging 2 pre-schoolers around on said sledge?

Yesterday was cakeful and I went well over on my calories. Have pulled my stretched socks up today and have been eating properly plus a shred. Bulgur wheat is my new-found carb of choice, thanks for introducing us, my loser friends.

RandallPinkFloyd · 17/01/2013 18:10

My biggest shock is portions, wft happened to my common sense button I don't know but it's like I was eating in preparation for a siege!

Weighing my food has been a harsh lesson. Yesterday I had 2 sausages and half a pack of the Merchant Gourmet lentils and I was full.

The thing is I didn't realise I was full until I stopped eating iyswim. Looking at the plate it looked such a pathetic amount I couldn't believe it really was enough.

DoubleMum · 17/01/2013 18:12

I am having a very weird food day, am not quite sure what my body is playing at. I won't be over calories but it's not a healthy day. And DH is out tonight, I always get the munchies when he's out!

nilbyname · 17/01/2013 18:22

I am slightly over, but I am not having the skin on my chicken, so I think I am actually under...hopeful!

spamm are you in the states?
What about salted popcorn no butter as a snack
pumpkin seeds
chopped up raw veg and 0% fat greek yogurt with garlic and grated cucumber through it
roasted baby beetroot with chilli

carried that is alot left over, well done!

bups you do make me larf

spamm · 17/01/2013 18:44

Yes - I am in the USA, just outside Washington DC.

Lizzylou · 17/01/2013 18:53

Sat watching ds1 at swimming slightly worried about how much snow will be outside when we get out. I have a habit of crashing in the snow.

Fab news about sledging though!!!

CarriedAwayAnnie · 17/01/2013 19:23

It's all the walking back up to the top of the hill that makes you burn all those calories. Makes my thighs ache just thinking about it!!

NeedChoos · 17/01/2013 22:01

I'm a loser too......a half pound. That's it. All.week.one.stupid.half.pound.

Crap

RandallPinkFloyd · 17/01/2013 22:11

But you lost it, didn't you. You didn't gain it.

Chin up chef, you've made a start!

nilbyname · 17/01/2013 22:42

need that's right you are moving in the right direction down! Don't lose heart!

buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 17/01/2013 22:43

Had a great day today and then ruined it by shovelling down an ENTIRE ALDI PANFUCKINGFORTE which was over 1000 calories on its own Sad [greedy] Still, had swimming lesson this evening which is 45 minutes of really hard work, and have walked 6 miles so not the end of the world!

Well done to all the losing chiefs!

NeedChoos · 18/01/2013 07:20

Thanks chiefs.....it could be a bit bloody faster about it.

Sledging sounds good though....think I need to bite the bullet and exercise. Pah.

DoubleMum · 18/01/2013 07:27

Well definitely not enough snow here in the west midlands to sledge, despite the forecast, and I have 2 miffed DCs because school is open.

laurenamium · 18/01/2013 07:52

Morning everyone! I've put back on 2 of the 3 pounds I lost last week. But for the time of the month this is normal for me. I will hopefully log a loss next week!

laurenamium · 18/01/2013 08:04

I've also logged my gain on MFP so that I can feel good and record everything I lose!

BupcakesAndCunting · 18/01/2013 09:45

Morning chiefs!

Weigh in day again today and have lost a big... fat... nothing. :(

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???!!! What am I doing wrong? My mum and SIL said (unprovoked) that I looked like I'd lost weight this week so why aren't the fucking scales shifting? AGGGGGGHHHH!

Does anyone think I need to up my calories (no, you would think, huh?) I have been doing between 1200-1400 but I just did this calculator thing on the NHS website and it says I should be having 1600? Pfffft. Is my body holding on to fat?

I feel very down in the dumps about this. :(

Where in the Midlands are you, DoubleMum? It's coming down thick and fast in the Black country!

OP posts:
Pinot · 18/01/2013 09:48

Moi aussi, Bups. Just too embarrassed to say before.

DoubleMum · 18/01/2013 09:51

We're in Stratford upon Avon and it is now coming thick and fast and school is now closed (closed pretty much as soon as we got there!).
Bupcakes have you done the calculation which tells you how much you are using? I can't remember the acronyms now but it was linked a couple of times earlier and there's something about it on the MFP forums. Using that I found that I should be eating about 1800, although I've set mine at 1700. Perhaps you should be eating more. When I did SW and didn't lose occasionally despite being 'good' the consultant would look at my food record and tell me I hadn't eaten enough A or B choices. I'll try to find the link.

BupcakesAndCunting · 18/01/2013 09:53

Perhaps Mika was right and big girls really ARE beautiful?

Do you fancy some Baileys and a mince pie?

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 18/01/2013 09:56

No embarrassment needed on this thread!

We're in it for the long haul, slow and steady means more likely to stay off.
I always used to go for the lastest fad diet, lose some then gain it all back. I lost and gained the same stone over and over.

Have you been to the GPs Bups? I was told similar at SW Double.
