New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

1000 replies

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 29/12/2012 21:30

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.

I will start ...

Greek yoghurt with vanilla extract cocole?

I have never stopped using dolmio or jarred curry sauces.....

Doshusallie · 30/12/2012 15:46

A tit budget you say? Intriguing....Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/12/2012 15:46

Panda what meat are you looking at? I've just been on their website and all the meat I can find, frozen or otherwise, says 100% beef or lamb or whatever? I can't see how meat alone would have any ingredients?

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 15:48

I tried it with fresh berries, I kept eating while pulling a pained face Grin

I noticed a lot if the ready cooked chicken had dextrose or brown sugar in it, sometimes both Shock.

I bought the cooked ham from Asda's deli counter, it was lovely.

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 15:49

"Tit" Grin

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 15:50

Asda's butcher meat is just, umm, meat Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/12/2012 15:52

Panda cooked chicken prob fine but cheaper and nicer to cook yourself. Eg roast one day for meal then have leftovers for various other meals/snacks. Chicken thighs (boneless ones) are tonnes cheaper than breast meat I find and are lovely.

ArfAPandaTreacle · 30/12/2012 15:52

I looked at loads of stuff but it was quite some time ago so Ive no idea what. We are going there tomorrow though so I'll check again.

ArfAPandaTreacle · 30/12/2012 15:56

That was lovely and partronising Colcole, thank you. Smile.

As a mum with a child allergic to a ridiculous amount of stuff, I check the labels of everything, all of the time. And I have not bought meat from Asdas for sometime because it was a problem.

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 16:09

Oopps sorry, wasn't meaning to insult you.

I have just weighted myself, with clothes on, apres pee.

12st 10lbs Shock

I'm aiming for 2 stone to start with

Lastyearsmodel · 30/12/2012 16:11

I stand corrected - I am on a tit budget. Sounds much better.

Thanks for the tips, ladies, am feeling like this is more doable.

Doshusallie · 30/12/2012 16:18

Weighing -to be done pre breakfast, post poo if possible, and before you drink anything or add deodorant or moisturiser, naked. Xmas Grin

Doshusallie · 30/12/2012 16:19

Coco weighing now will also be weighing all the food and fluids you have consumed today, plus your clothes. You can knock 3 pounds off right there...

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 16:19

If I do that I expect to be at least a stone lighter Grin

MulledwineGless · 30/12/2012 16:20

Arf if you are in budget for meat try Aldi or Lidl. Their meat is good value but I am not sure regarding dairy intolerance. What do you need to look at on the labels and we can keep our eyes peeled for some bargains for you. Can second breast of lamb and pork belly in sainsburys- both tasty

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 16:20

3 stone you say.......?

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/12/2012 16:39

Panda, this woe might work out better for you as it works best when you cook from scratch. It will allow you to be in complete control of the ingredients which would be fab. I think what coco was trying to say is that fresh meat (and fish) will be just that, just meat with no added ingredients. Prepared meat might have stuff added to it but fresh (or frozen fresh stuff) should be just that. Have a look tomorrow and report back so we can help if needed!

captainmummy · 30/12/2012 16:55

Won;t be joining the spreadsheet but will be lurking for inspiration and support to lose the final 3 lbs.

i've been doing this WOE since june, and I love it. I don't find that it's more expensive (and I speak as a former nearly-vegetarian, carb-queen)- the vegs I buy now are the cheaper ones; swede, turnip, celeriac, cauli; a saving over the previous red peppers, potatoes, butternut squashes, loads of fruit. I still don't buy much meat, and use mushrooms and eggs a lot more. Any meat I do use is a bit-player on the plate, like a few bits of chicken in a cream leek sauce with cauli mash, or in soup, or beef stew with mushrooms and chunky veg.

I do eat too much cheese/dairy, I know, so will be following Bootcamp for 2 weeks (again) to cut it out and hopefully make a difference.

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 17:01

The bag of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots from Iceland was £1.

ArfAPandaTreacle · 30/12/2012 17:08

Im 10.8 stone. Id like to be a stone lighter but that'll never happen.

I simply want to see 9 stone anything.

thenightsky · 30/12/2012 17:20

Where is the list of permitted veg to print off that someone mentioned up-thread?

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 17:22

Sorry for random pricing post but I was making donner and thought I'd share.

BIWI listed them on one of her posts, thenlightsky.

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/12/2012 17:23

On the spreadsheet
