No spreadsheet to link to this week, as the LBD challenge is now over!

I don't know about anyone else, but I have definitely not had the greatest of weeks, and I'm keeping on keeping on until we get to Christmas.

Not quite sure yet what my own Christmas strategy is going to be, but I also guess it depends on where I've got to with my weight by then. I know that, having achieved my first major target of losing 2 stones, I still have more to go. So my next really major, very psychological target, will be to reach 9 stone. Something I have been trying (and failing) to do for the last 10 years! But now it seems so much more achieveable, especially with all you lot giving such brilliant support.

This week for me starts with a super strict day today. I'm out to dinner tomorrow, with a groups of ex colleagues, and venue is not yet chosen, but is likely to be a Chinese, which always brings its own problems. not to mention the wine

I'm also out to lunch on Friday, so it looks like Wednesday and Thursday will also have to be super strict!

viper ooh 3 inches! it's a much better indication of progress, also health too i think?

i haven't lost anything yet this week (have been travelling for work though, and that always seems to stall me, don't know whether it's water retention from sitting down a lot... also i drink less because i'm less certain i can be near a loo when necessary!), but i can feel my tummy bloat going down

vnmum · 10/01/2013 09:05

There will be no more chocolate this week Smile. To be fair, i don't think the chocolate is triggering cravings because DH brought home a full fresh cream chocolate roulade last night, because it was reduced Hmm, and preceeded to eat it sat next to me and i didn't want any at all. 2 weeks ago i would have been saying sod it and having some, so cravings aren't really an issue.

I think i need to drop the dairy and see what that does

BigStickBIWI · 10/01/2013 09:07

Are you still going to the gym/working out as hard?

EwanHoozami · 10/01/2013 09:29

I'd got into the habit of having a couple of squares of 80% after dinner and have had to knock it on the head. It was almost certainly stalling me so I had a bit of a word with myself about why I 'needed' it. I used to be terrible for using naughty food as a reward and it seems I'm still struggling with that mindset.

Well done to the inch-losers and booze-refusers :)

vnmum · 10/01/2013 09:53

Just been for a poo and lost a lb Blush TMI i know Smile
biwi i haven't been to the gym in months. Since i started work really as my gym only opens at 9am and most days i start work before then and when i finish work at 6 or 7, i can't be arsed going coz i havd to sort the DC out because they want to see me etc. I have made a resolution to get my arse back in gear and get back to working out. I am going to try going running again. I like it and it gives me space to clear my head in the great outdoors. I know it can be seen as chronic cardio but i doubt i'll be doing it every day.

Just going to have boiled eggs mashed with butter before heading out to work for what could turn into another 26 hour shift.

BigStickBIWI · 10/01/2013 09:56

Eek! Don't like the sound of a 26 hour shift!

vnmum · 10/01/2013 10:02

It will be the 2nd one this week. It will only be 26 hours if we have an animal that needs to stay in overnight but i never know if i will have to stay until 7ish that night.

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/01/2013 10:21

26 hours

BIWI w are at 976 posts on week 1 thread do you want to start a new one so they can be easily linked?

Doshusallie · 10/01/2013 11:18

Morning all. I need to get to the gym too Vnmum, my excuse this week is my cold, but really need to start getting my legs stronger for skiing, I really struggled last year at the end of the week.

That dark chocolate habit is very hard to break once started.

BIWI - I now have a big stick. If I can go without alcohol, even whilst DH is necking it on the sofa next to me, so can you. having said that, he slept from 9.30pm to 6.30am last night without even moving, so trying to get him back on the wagon after 2 weeks of terrible sleep is going to be extremely difficult....

WillieWaggledagger · 10/01/2013 12:07

your job sounds really interesting vnmum, though the 26hrs must be tough

BigStickBIWI · 10/01/2013 12:08

Good point, MrsHP. Thanks.

WillieWaggledagger · 10/01/2013 12:13

also, did your childcare sort itself vnmum?

vnmum · 10/01/2013 14:44

For the moment, yes, willie but only because DH is off work medium term sick. Once he knows he is going back i will be organising it all but luckily my temp childcarer is still ok to carry on for the time being

nappyaddict · 10/01/2013 17:55

BIWI Can you remind me what your total carbs intake should be in grams per day whilst in maintenance?

timidviper · 10/01/2013 18:11

Glad you got it sorted vnmum, I know what a worry it is, that is the big plus when children grow older!
I don't envy you having to do those long stints. Many, many moons ago I worked in a very smart private hospital and we had to do on-calls where we had to sleep in. I hated it! In fact I can't begin to tell you how much I hated it! The NHS are far more civilised, they let you go home and ring you but the private hospital wanted everything immediately if not sooner, hence the sleeping in.

All quiet on the western front here! Very uneventful day.

BigStickBIWI · 10/01/2013 18:23

nappyaddict - I can't tell you that, unfortunately, because you have to work out what your body can tolerate. Everyone is different. Atkins would have you very gradually increasing your carbs, so that you reach a point where you know how many you can have a day.

This, of course, means weighing/counting carbs, which is something I don't do, and isn't part of Bootcamp.

I would say that if you've been keeping a record of what you've been eating, that you should use that as a base, and then gradually add in more carby things, and see what happens. Keep a record of it, so that you can identify possible problem foods.

Once you reach your target weight, weigh yourself once a week. Allow yourself some flexibility, say 5lbs over your target, and as soon as you start to put weight back on or reach that extra 5lbs, go back to strict Bootcamp.

WillieWaggledagger · 10/01/2013 18:33

That's good for now - hope your dh is doing ok

nappyaddict · 10/01/2013 18:40

Thanks for the advice BIWI

Was there not a recommended daily carb intake for bootcamp then? I have never really weighed my carbs but thought I saw 50g mentioned. Perhaps it was another poster though.

BigStickBIWI · 10/01/2013 19:10

Nope. Atkins induction is 20g, Charles Clark is 40-60g.

No idea what Bootcamp would work out to be! (Although hopefully it would be somewhere between those two, and closer to 20g)

The whole point of Bootcamp is to free everyone up from having to weigh/count.

nappyaddict · 10/01/2013 20:07

Does anyone use My Fitness Pal? It could be interesting to see what everyone's average is.

BigStickBIWI · 10/01/2013 20:15

No! I really, really, really can't be arsed with the idea of weighing/counting. I'm losing weight - that's good enough for me. Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 10/01/2013 20:28

nappyaddict i did weigh veg at first to gauge how carby my standard portions were. i think for veg alon it was about 20g a day, so with other bits and bobs i expect it's around 30g a day (ish)

nappyaddict · 11/01/2013 01:25

Saying that my scales are very inaccurate so it's probably a waste of time!

ToomuchWaternotWine · 11/01/2013 01:36

Yo old chums, well bloody hell full thread after 3 days, the newbies are going great guns! Was a tad freaked out when Xenia popped up, she scares the crap outta me. Which, on day 4 of returning to bootcamp, is probably actually a blessing in disguise ..... Wink

MrsHerculePoirot · 11/01/2013 07:20

toomuch me too!!!

I am feeling so muh better again.

Half - hope you are OK.
