enough faffing about is a stone by the end of the year doable?

the only resolution I set myself this year was to end it a stone lighter than I started it. well we are nearly at the end of the year and I have lost and then regained that stone. I have also stopped smoking so am allowing myself a bit of slack.

I lost 4 stone when dd2 was born and have put three of them back on. I need to stop the trend before it gets set in.
So I have decided that I need to lose that stone I promised myself by the end of the year. I cant do low carb, was doing ww but seemed more intent on finding ways to cheat than actually doing it.

When I lost the 4 stone it was through writing everything down and upping the excercise.
I have ordered a bike so hoping to start cycling half an hour a day and gone back onto MFP to log everything.
In total I need to lose about 3.5 stone but that first one would be a good start. Also I am always tired and struggle with low iron often, I have bought myself a good multivit and iron and am hoping that when I am a bit less tired I will be able to excercise better control over my eating.
So is it doable, and does anyone fancy joining me?

Definitely do-able but probably the most challenging time of year (for most people) to achieve it.
If your head's in the right place you could really enjoy saying no to the endless mince pies and ubiquitous christmas 'bits' which can cause the lbs to stack up over Dec / Jan time and the triumph of reaching your goal by the end of the year would make it completely worth it.

I rejoined slimming world 8 weeks ago and have lost just over a stone, I WILL lose another 10lbs by Xmas - my head's in the zone this week, can you tell Grin

Good luck Smile

ditavonteesed · 12/11/2012 13:48

just checked in my diary and that is 7 weeks, so 2lb a week is doable, I start a new job in about 4 weeks (hopefully) and am hoping to cycle to work which should definatly help. Before that I have finished all the courses I am doing so have 4 weeks to totally dedicate to excercise and good cooking.

easily doable.
Come and try 5:2 ......
I'm running at 2lb a week loss : five more pounds to go

tethersend · 12/11/2012 16:27

I'm in- I've lost a stone and a half since August when I went to a SW meeting. It was the biggest motivator- I knew if I didn't do it, I'd have to go back to the god-awful meetings and eat their shit food Grin

Anyway, gone off the boil over the last month and stopped recording food. Haven't put any on, but have another couple of stone of baby weight to go. So yes, make me get back into MFP and lose a stone by Christmas. I'm doing the school run now which is about a 2 mile round trip everyday, plus going for long walks during the day so am hoping to kick start the weightloss again.

ditavonteesed · 12/11/2012 16:36

tethers my user name is the same as here if you want to add me. :)

I haven't quite worked out how to do that bit- do you see what everyone's eaten or just get their status updates?

tethersend · 12/11/2012 16:42

Because some days, I eat crap Grin

tethersend · 12/11/2012 16:42

Not literally, that would be awful.

Namechangeforapropertythread · 12/11/2012 16:43

I could do with doing this but no idea if I'd manage it. Sleep deprived and no time away from the children . . .but I'd feel so much better if I made a start on the weight I need to lose! 3 stone to get into the right bmi!

2cats2many · 12/11/2012 16:44

Definitely do-able. I recommend the My Fitness Pal app. I lost 2 stone in 3 months a year ago and have kept it all off (so far). Do lots of walking too.

Flojo1979 · 12/11/2012 16:47

I really need to do this but my heads not really in the zone. I like mince pies and Xmas cake too much!

ditavonteesed · 12/11/2012 16:51

I do tons of walking, but I think my body is just used to it so I need to do more high cardio stuff.

tethers I think you can choose if you ppublish food diary or not but I cant remember as I set it up about a year ago Blush I find the fact that others might see my diary really motivating (although the bags of kettle chips may not make it in there.
2cats, do you still log?
Flojo go on you know you want to.
Talkin - just having a look through the 5:2 thread, I struggle with being constantly hungry so not sure it would work for me but am open to persuasion.

Every now and then I'll do it for a few weeks if my weight gets 2 kilos over what I want it to be. It kind of resets my portion control again.

I ask the dog for about an hour a day and its really helping with the staying slim business.

Flojo1979 · 12/11/2012 22:26

Ok, I'm in.
Struggle with evening munchies and struggle to exercise.
What's the plan? Someone spoon feed me pls. So long as its reduced calories!

TalkinPeace2 · 12/11/2012 22:28

5-2
500 calories 2 days a week
tdee calories five days a week
easy peasy

BikeRunSki · 12/11/2012 22:32

I joined Slimming World 6 weeks ago and have lost 1 stone 1 lb. So, a stone in 6 weeks is acehivable. I am aiming at another stone in that time. Need to fit in work clothes by 2 Jan!

Flojo1979 · 12/11/2012 22:54

tdee?

ditavonteesed · 13/11/2012 07:53

tdee? I just got my phone out to see if it was a number but the number would be 8333 so I am guessing not. well 2lbs down already so thats a good start (or indisgestion)

ditavonteesed · 13/11/2012 07:55

bikeskirun, that is a good aim, I am a bit worried because I got measured for my uniform for my new job about 6 weeks ago and apparently you cant have a new one unless you lose 2 dress sizes so I could be wearing an ill fitting unifor for months (another reason to crack on)
I did half an hour on the wii and walk 22000 steps yesterday, aiming for the same today.

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 13/11/2012 08:03

I think I will try 1270 calories a day (what MFP says I need) for a week and see how I go beofre I try the 5:2.

OP posts:
2cats2many · 13/11/2012 08:12

I ask the dog? I meant 'walk' the dog.

Good luck. I bet you'll do it!

ditavonteesed · 13/11/2012 08:13

i thought you asked the dog to take you out for 2 hours ;)

OP posts:
FergusSingsTheBlues · 13/11/2012 08:18

You can totally do it! I lost 7 stone in 7 months by eating little and often, as much fruit and veg as i could handle, NO "simple" carbs, no booze.

start now and think how great you'll feel at christmas. If i ever wavered, i used to tell myself that no treat is so good that it cant wait til goal!

ditavonteesed · 13/11/2012 08:23

wow fergus thats amazing. I replaced the fags with cheese and onion crisps which has been my downfall.

OP posts:
amothersplaceisinthewrong · 13/11/2012 08:24

Definitely doable - if you have the willpower to say no to all the Xmas titbits which actually can become a habit - everyone at work knows I NEVER have any chocolates or biscuits from the tins brought in by clients at the end of the year.
