Hello all...

Can I join?

I'm on the wagon. Seriously on the wagon.
I've been on and off diets for the past couple of years, have lost some baby weight ( said baby is 2.5!!) but still some to go.

Bmi calculator says 14kg (nearly 3 stone) to be securely in the 'healthy' band though I'll be v happy with 10kg lost.

Have lost 2kg in the last week and feeling v positive!

InMySpareTime · 07/01/2013 14:06

All welcome (wow, new folk are like buses, none for ages then all at once)
Don't worry about other people's weights on the spreadsheet, it's about tracking your own journey, not where that journey begins or ends. My weight is low now, but it was much more in July when I first joined, and I'm very short so need to weigh less than average height people!

TheOneWithTheHair · 07/01/2013 14:37

Hello everyone. Welcome to Motivational Monday. I second not worrying about what everyone else weighs. We are all kinds of heights and what we are aiming for is all different to comparisons aren't reliable here.

If it helps I've been here 6 months and I've lost 1.5st. I have the same to lose again for my ideal weight. I've been doing it very slowly but some go faster (especially at the beginning).

Also some are more consistent than others. It's a great place to get some encouragement and/or a kick up the bum if needed. :)

hazle those seem like pretty good reasons to me. A healthy pregnancy is a great aim. :)

Tobermory · 07/01/2013 14:38

I may well be having 'a moment' or it may well be that its excel, and me and spreadsheets dont really get on.... but the dates on the columns look a bit crazy?

TheOneWithTheHair · 07/01/2013 14:40

Yes I noticed that. I'm not sure what's happened since Christmas. I'm sure if we ask nicely someone techy can sort it.

Heeeellllllllpppppp please?!? Grin

Tobermory · 07/01/2013 14:41

Hair - 1.5st in 6 months, thats fab..... i think i have a similar target.

Im aiming for summer holiday in terms of timescale.... in my dreams id wear a bikini but I'll happily accept looking better in a swimming costume!

TheOneWithTheHair · 07/01/2013 14:44

Thanks Toby.

It's just a shame no one in rl has really noticed yet. I don't do myself any favours though as I'm constantly buried in big, thick cardigans and coats. Grin

Tobermory · 07/01/2013 14:49

Thats fine, by the summer when youve lost another 1.5, you'll be parading round in your summer skinny-girl summer wardrobe and then they'll notice!

What are you doing to lose it? A specific diet or exercise regime?

roulade · 07/01/2013 14:52

Hi everyone

I've started today and joined mfp this morning. I aim to lose a stone by the summer. I did a long walk this morning and tomorrow start my brand new zumba dvds when dd goes to bed at lunchtime. Wish me luck!

steppemum · 07/01/2013 14:53

thanks for the welcome

I am aiming for 2 lbs per week. I am hoping that more will come off at the beginning, and it will take me till next new year at that rate!

so how do I add to the spreadsheet

(I am actually really nervous about putting it down in public. NO one knows how much I weigh, not even dh. I am 5'8'' so carry it reasonably well. I am trying to be accountable in some way to someone!)

TheOneWithTheHair · 07/01/2013 15:03

Hi all. I'm off to school so will answer in a bit.

Haha Tober (sorry if I got you're name wrong before), InMySpareTime calls it the butterfly effect when we all emerge slim and beautiful when the weather improves. I like that idea. Grin

Tobermory · 07/01/2013 15:24

steppemum, I know what you mean about feeling anxious about recording 'the' number in public. I feel the same. But I figure the buzz i get from recording my losses in public will outweigh the 'putting it out there'

BonkeyMollocks · 07/01/2013 15:42

Oooh hello newbies!

Will catch up in abit! I am fighting off a 5yo Hmm .

hazleweatherfieldgirldetective · 07/01/2013 15:52

Just had an idle glance through the free seven day menu on the slimming world website. Surely that can't be right? SO MUCH FOOD! Is it actually possible to eat that much and lose weight?!

InMySpareTime · 07/01/2013 16:19

I'm only 5'0" so 10st 6 is still a bit too much and the 14st I started at was far too much
I reduced my portion sizes and decided to eat only when I actually wanted to eat (habitual snackerBlush), and to make sure I enjoyed every mouthful I ate.
That "diet" has lost me 3 1/2 st, and dropped me from a tight size 18 to a baggy 14.

TheOneWithTheHair · 07/01/2013 16:22

Anyone who feels anxious you are not obliged to add yourself so don't feel pressured. Anyone who does want to, have a gander at the start weights. It should make those just starting feel ok.

I don't do any formal type of exercise but I've tried loads. Wii fit, gym, dance, exercise dvds etc and they just didn't work for me. I do walk though. To school, to the shops (if it's a small amount I need to get) and walking for pleasure. I suffer from SAD so getting outside is a priority or I just can't do anything.

In terms of diet, again no particular plan. I've stopped snacking and when I do it's not chocolate anymore, also portion control is a big change - I've stopped keeping up with dh for starters Blush.

I bought the Hairy Bikers diet book a few weeks ago and it's great because its proper hearty food so even dh doesn't complain.

MilkshakeMaker · 07/01/2013 17:45

Hello everyone new!

I forgot to WI this morning so will check in again tomo(and catch up on the thread too)

I have been focusing for the last few days on not snacking,or eating in the kitchen taste testing, eating ds's food, leftovers etc etc, never realised how much i wasnt logging by a quick mouthfull here and there. Scary!

LollipopViolet · 07/01/2013 18:02

I forgot to WI too Blush

So, motivational Tuesday for me this week!

Tobermory · 07/01/2013 19:22

Hairy Bikers. They have a series on TV at the moment which is quite interesting. DH keeps telling me about nice looking receipes he has seen so we may be buying that same book.

I have a question for those who are already losers...

How much did you have to lose to go down a dress size?

I know it differs from person to person but as a ball park. Id like an idea of how much I need to shift to go to drop a dress size.

TheOneWithTheHair · 07/01/2013 20:48

If you get it go to The Book People on line. It cost a fiver and delivery was quick.

I had to lose about a stone before I dropped a size but I tend to carry my weight pretty evenly all over. I then lose it all over so a tiny inch reduction.

Maybe that's why no one has noticed. Confused

Although I've just remembered on a mum's night out when I took off my coat. I was wearing a dress and another mum remarked. "Look. A waist!" She meant it in a nice but surprised rather than bitch way iyswim.

TheOneWithTheHair · 08/01/2013 09:46

Morning everyone.

Well I finally had a good day yesterday. No snacking at all and sensible meals ish.

Trying again today.

Breakfast: Belvita
Lunch: pita bread and salad
Dinner: Bangers and mash Blush. Reduced mash though.

How are you all feeling?

InMySpareTime · 08/01/2013 10:04

A good day today, I will actually remember to drink a cup of tea today which is more than I managed yesterday as too busy and i plan to actually leave the house. I have done some work, booked my summer holiday and finished my project so far this morning, I need to collect a prescription and buy and cook meat. That is all, unless it brightens up then I'll go on a bike ride. Food-wise, granola for breakfast, mystery leftovers for lunch and roast chicken for dinner.

MilkshakeMaker · 08/01/2013 10:04

....11st6lb on the scales this morning, It's the right direction!

TheOneWithTheHair · 08/01/2013 10:48

Well done Milkshake. Always good when that happens. :)

KatoPotato · 08/01/2013 11:21

Nice one Milkshake and welcome to all the new recruits!

Weighed this morning and I'm 10 10. I was 10 8 just before xmas, 10 13 inbetween xmas and NY so I'm getting there too!

Going back to the gym for Body Pump was like first day back at school last night, I was stood in the hall with my gym garb on all slouchy shoulders and petted lip but DH booted my backside out of the door.

Stairs nearly killed me this morning and I was delighted, I've missed that pain!

Protein shake for brekkers, sesame ryvita with laughing cow light and sliced chicken for lunch, dinner undecided.

Still not logged back into MFP.... bah
