We managed to fill the thread before the end of the week, so I'm starting the next one.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness for you to record your weight tomorrow

Auntmaggie, I'd do a coleslaw - it's better the next day anyway.

AuntieMaggie · 11/10/2012 17:23

Brilliant - I have a couple of levi roots coleslaw recipes that I could use - thank you.

TellMeLater · 11/10/2012 17:36

There's a blog about coleslaw on the guardian website - I made it this week with horseradish sauce, it was lovely. Using both red and white cabbage makes for a more visually appealing dish.

TheHumancatapult · 11/10/2012 18:00

F making one with mayonnaise add some fresh lemon juice to it gives a nice tang twist to it

Doshusallie · 11/10/2012 18:16

Butterfly - you say that about about reintroducing fruit for eg, but I actually think that if I want to stay in the low 9s I will have to stay on a BOOTCAMP type regime forever! As soon as I deviate from it I put the pounds back on. My food is genuinely BOOTCAMP and I gain a pound just by having a glass of wine! So that's my decision isn't it.....be the weight I want or eat things like nuts fruit and my beloved Cabernet Sauvignon.

I will relax on special occasions but I think this is me for the long haul. Could be worse, could be low cal.....

DIYapprentice · 11/10/2012 18:38

Dosh - have you actually measured your carb intake? If you are on maintenance, then you probably need to know your exact carb intake. From memory (my Atkins book is sitting in a box somewhere!) when you move onto maintenance you need to know how many carbs you are eating, you then reintroduce foods slowly, see how you react to them. If they cause a weight gain then you cut the out again. Different foods will affect different people in different ways. Some people might react to some fruit, others to dairy, etc. Also, people have different carb tolerance levels. Some can have between 80 - 100 grams of carbs, others have to have far far less.

DIYapprentice · 11/10/2012 18:40

Quick dinner of some cocktail sausages and some of yesterday's braised cabbage, had a lovely chicken breast salad for lunch though.

The Sainsbury's Taste the Difference cocktail sausages (the ones you have to cook) only have .7 grams of carb if anyone needs to do some party entertaining!

cathyandclaire · 11/10/2012 19:00

Dosh I'm pretty new to all this low carbing and the experts will know better than me (please feel free to correct me BIWI Grin....but from my reading it seems that when you increase carbs and go out of ketosis your body stores water with the glycogen it makes, around 3-7lb depending on your size.
So I think some weight gain may be inevitable if you reintroduce carbs...I'm not sure if it's best to go to below your target to allow for this, or to very, very slowly introduce healthy carbs so that you gradually adapt.

Does anyone know the answer, or all you all going to stay strictly on this WOE? I like it...but not sure I can resist doritos and mojitos forever Blush

vnmum · 11/10/2012 19:11

Thankyou all for your congratulations. We are going to have a good xmas this year Smile

TellMeLater · 11/10/2012 19:33

Congrats on the new job - vnmum - when do you start?

tartiflette · 11/10/2012 19:39

Yes, fab news vnmum - well done you!

That venison burger concoction sounds beeyootiful toomuch. Creme fraiche is so useful to have knocking around with this woe isn't it?

B two boiled eggs with mayonnaise, coffee with cream

L tomato and veg soup (not ideal but only had v little), piece of cheese, 2x coffee with cream

D moussaka with green beans and courgettes

Need to down some water I am way behind.

Doshusallie · 11/10/2012 19:41

No I have never measured my carbs, but as I follow biwi's rules (food wise) very closely I'd be surprised if they are higher than 20-30.

2 pork chops with roasted cauliflower and leeks with olive oil and cumin a la BIWI for tea.Grin

A gin and slimline. 2 actually

Snacks: pork scratchings and 2 slices of naice ham. 2.5 litres of water so far.

No cheese or cream!!!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 11/10/2012 19:58

Thanks dosh butterfly and tartiflette yes the venison burgers were great. I live in the NE of scotland and am lucky to have good local suppliers around for meat, eggs, fish. Ideal fresh natural food for LC-ing!

Tartiflette, I also don't think I could do this woe without dairy, I hope I can lose enough but still be able to enjoy it. I luurve cheese.

fufulina · 11/10/2012 20:04

Hello losers! So many low carbers all doing brilliantly and seeing the light. I weighed in at 74kg today, so have lost the kilo I put on on holiday, plus an extra half kilo for good measure! In a week! Am but a kilo away from a healthy BMI. I sodding love this WOE.

THanks to Poppy (i think) who posted the braised cabbage recipe. OMAG, is so delicious!

Also, my parents have read IPD (I never have), and have lost 8lb each in two weeks. And they are brainwashed! Is brilliant! But they keep quizzing me on it, and I keep telling them that although similar, what I do isn't IPD.Iit is a thread on mumsnet (cue puzzled looks), full of lovely ladies chatting low carb things and having some rules and a big stick waving BIWI. Grin.

Am about to catch up on about 30 pages of threads.

Onwards and down was ladies

WineGless · 11/10/2012 20:05

Hi everyone, had a shocker today.
Not up to posting much tonight but sending positive low carb vibes to everyone

Wheresmypopcorn · 11/10/2012 20:17

captainmummy - to be honest, by the time the weekend rolls around my treat would be to have one potato instead of a whole lot. Now that I am used to the feeling of being less full, a few carbs make me eager to get back to low carbing again. I have dropped 3 kilos (approx 6 pounds) and a jean size (RESULT) Smile

tartiflette · 11/10/2012 20:40

Me too toomuch, me too Grin And butter. And cream.....

JessicaWakefield · 11/10/2012 20:49

Congratulations Vnmum that's just brilliant news! Go you!

JessicaWakefield · 11/10/2012 20:53

Sorry to those of you not having a great day - Captain I hope you're feeling less shaken up now, poor you. I would have absolutely panicked in your situation and NewStart and Wine I hope things feel better soon.

SingingTunelessly · 11/10/2012 21:27

I'm still here lurking, or trying to catch up. This thread is moving sooo fast now!

Vnmum, many congratulations! Again, I know Blush Grin

Bloss, I join you on the glass of wine shame step. Although sounds like you're doing ok now, well done.

Gless, Not sure what's happened today but hope you're ok?

Everyone else, hope you're all enjoying this woe. Honestly, it's strange at first but soon becomes second nature to spot a carb at a hundred paces! And they are so easy to shake your head at. apart from wine ehh Bloss joining on the naughty step Grin

NewStartSameStory · 11/10/2012 22:08

Am having a better end to the night then beginning. Didn't cheat too bad. Couldn't face eating which helped. Just putting ds to bed and will have something bootcamp friendly. Still didn't drink enough water today. Have only had one meal and will make it 2 by the end of the day. Not even really snacked. The cheat did however prove that I am feeling shit because still feeling the side effects of carb flu. I suspect it is going to take a while for me to adjust, especially with having reduced the caffine and the crazy life style. It some how makes the feeling like crap easier to face. Also should have taken the strong pain killers last night and got a decent night's kip.

Doshusallie · 11/10/2012 22:08

Wine? Me? I'm a gin girl through and through. Grin

caramelwaffle · 11/10/2012 22:15

Good evening.

Well done vnmum.

Hope all gets better wine

Had a horrible morning health wise: was slightly dizzy last night and woke up this morning hardly able to get out of bed. Had that total dizzy experience that you get when you have been out for an evening and drunk far, far too much alcohol. The rooms would not stop spinning. The nausea overwhelming.
As I have only had one glass of red wine - last week - in over a month it wasn't that.

Either my electrolytes were unbalanced (had previous experience of this) or the symptoms of food poison (also previous experience)

Barely managed to eat a small cube of cheese, a few olives and a small piece of celery for breakfast and only because I thought of the BIG STICK OF DOOM and wanted to get my bootcamp exercise in.

Didn't want lunch, however forced myself to eat some chicken, saag and cabbage fried in butter.

Dinnertime had some jellied eels and lots more saag.

Water 3-4 litres.

This thread is moving so fast.

caramelwaffle · 11/10/2012 22:16

Get well soon NewStart
