We managed to fill the thread before the end of the week, so I'm starting the next one.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness for you to record your weight tomorrow

TellMeLater · 11/10/2012 08:40

BIWI dh fasted - still eating low carb, yesterday and was a lb up this morning - the body is a very weird thing!

BigBroomstickBIWI · 11/10/2012 08:48

It is indeed, TellMeLater! But even as a seasoned daily weigher it's annoying to see that number!

NewStart - I think you're very right to say you aren't expecting a great loss, as you had a massive one last week. You need to make sure that your head is in the right place to cope with that. Can you and DS take yourselves back to bed so that today is a bit more bearable? Snuggle up together and watch a DVD?

housekeeping announcement

thanks to everyone who has recorded their weight for this week.

we have lost a total of 215.6 lb so far (98kg / 15 st 5.6 lb) which is fabulous

loser of the week goes to newstartsamestory

i have moved everyone who didn't weigh in on week one to an archive tab. if anyone would like to be reinstated please just let me know. for those who weighed in on week one but haven't yet weighed in on week two, i have carried over the same weight for now, in italics, in order to get the calculation for the total loss. any additional weigh-ins can be added as normal - just overwrite the number i've carried over from last week

currently our average loss per person is 2.1 lb, but realistically this is higher (approx. 3.5 lb per person) if you restrict to the people who have actually weighed in.

WineGless That's one of the best compliments, it must have been really good to hear :)

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 11/10/2012 09:10

Just adding to the kamikaze kids list, DS has mildly tweaked twisted his ankle ffs and is lying on the sofa doing the "woe is me" flop.

I posted last night that I was feeling poorly, still am a bit, but have woken up to find my period has started. I'm really surprised, cos I haven't had many of the PMS symptoms I usually get: short temper will scream at DH for breathing funny sore boobs, the inclination to eat a loaf of toast and still feel hungry. Am a bit crampy and tired but better than usual.

If LC is a cure for my PMS, I will be thrilled!!!!! Grin

BigBroomstickBIWI · 11/10/2012 09:10

Wow! Brilliant going! That's like losing two Mumsnetters a week!

(don't tell Justine Grin)

Thanks williewaggle for your spreadsheet genius.

Pufflemum · 11/10/2012 09:20

Morning all, some great results here, well done! I need some motivation as my scales have not moved in a week. Yesterday I ate
B- Greek yoghurt
L- skinny Thai soup
D- smoked haddock, kale and sweet corn ( since realised sweet corn is a v v bad low carb vegetable)
Today I have had two boiled egged with asparagus and plan to have tuna, mayo and avocado for lunch followed by salmon and roast cauliflower for dinner. I also ran 5 miles yesterday. Why is my weight stalling? Help please.

dotty2 · 11/10/2012 09:20

Still not lost any weight since last friday - nearly a week now. Still constipated. Creeping nearer temptation - almost caved and had a G&T last night, but trying to stay strong. Bit fed up though. I cooked a chicken stir fry last night with 3 hot chillis in it, which sent DH rushing to the loo this morning, but not me. Maybe I should stop weighing every day.

Pufflemum · 11/10/2012 09:21

Oh I also had some cheese and half a leftover burger as snacks yesterday

Pufflemum · 11/10/2012 09:22

Dotty I'm the same, I told myself not to weigh this morning, then couldn't resist it. Perhaps we should lock our scales away where we cannot get to them whilst naked?

dotty2 · 11/10/2012 09:29

Good idea pufflemum - I just keep hoping for something to encourage me, and then just get even more disheartened.

teaandthorazine · 11/10/2012 09:31

Hello all, sorry I've not been v active here but have been mad at work and am also another one not feeling 100% - maybe it's a thread lurgy Grin

Have done my best with BC this week (last week total write-off tbh) though in fairness I'm probably BC Lite. Haven't stayed away from the nuts or red wine, I'm afraid Blush but have done pretty well otherwise...

However... I do seem to be stalled at 10 stone and nothing I do is shifting the scales. In a way I don't mind - it's a fab weight for me and I feel quite happy here, but I do think it makes it easier to 'cheat'. I tend to think 'oh well, whatever I eat I'm 10 stone' which obviously isn't going to be the case forever if I carry on with the carb creep. I'm beginning to think that maintaining is actually harder than losing! Either that or my scales are knackered...

Saying all that, this morning I went up another notch on my belt, so my waist is getting smaller even if the scales aren't showing it.

Well done to everyone, btw. Get your head around low carb is the hardest part, I think - once you 'get it' then it's plain sailing (more or less!)

Jacaqueen · 11/10/2012 09:39

I am also a pound up this morning.

I am blaming WineGless who posted the MIM recipe on this thread yesterday. I had a savoury version made with paprika and cheese for lunch.

Only kidding of course. It is just a blip and I am not going to stress.

This week I am going to weigh in early on Saturday before I set off on holiday for the week.

Doshusallie · 11/10/2012 09:44

Curse of the daily weighers - am back up to 9 3 this morning. It's the wine I know, but I think I overdid the dairy yesterday too. Damn this gorge cheese in the house!

TooMuch - a few people on previous bootcamp threads have said that their PMS has massively reduced on this WOE. What a result! Can't comment myself, as i am on the Depo injection and don't have periods at all (bliss).

No breakfast yet. Considering holding out till lunch and FINALLY having the damn Cauliflower soup.

Berocca and DTWLFM so far.

Planning pork chops (Lidls) and cauliflower cheese for tea.

hacking down with rain here.......

HumphreyCobbler · 11/10/2012 09:45

I am so chuffed. I may even weigh myself. I have a thin back with no hamsters!!!! I put on weight on my shoulders Hmm it has been annoying me for years.

To all those who are stalling - don't lose heart. Just keep at it. I have had a long stall (because I didn't give up the cheese) and that is why I stopped weighing. I wanted to carry on because I felt so much better, but I knew if I kept fixating on the scales I would lose heart.

This bootcamp inspired me to try dairy free and it has really really worked Smile
The only problem is that my breath is rank and it is starting to annoy my DH. I am drinking the required amount of water so I don't know why it affects me so badly but I am just going to have to live with it. And so is DH Grin

WineGless · 11/10/2012 09:45

Shock. Moi??

Doshusallie · 11/10/2012 09:50

what's the funny thread? I need this in my life...

vnmum · 11/10/2012 09:54

tea i fully agree that is is easy when you get into it. If i am hungry i no longer look in cupboards for a snack i look in the fridge and to be honest my cupboard contents are tinned toms, herbs and seasoning, mayo and not much else Smile

puffle did you check the carbs on the soup?thai food can be quite sugary and anything that is light/skinny is usually filled with added sugar. Other than that, sometimes you will not lose on the scale then have a whoosh day where you suddenly lose a couple of pounds. Don't lose hope and think of how much better you feel on this woe.

I was talking to DH last night about this whole woe. DS asked why he couldn't have a cake from the cake shop everyday after school like his friends. Rather than saying cakes are bad for you i just asked him what cakes are made from and he said 'wheat and sugar'. I then asked him what the problem with that was, and he said 'we don't eat wheat and sugar'.

Now DS understands why we are eating this way, DD less understanding but she is only 4, and their behaviour and health have improved since making the switch. After looking back we have realised that DD was showing mild IBS symptoms (DH suffers), of bloatedness, diarrheoa after eating certain things, craving carbs etc. That has now stopped for her which hopefully means we can limit any permanent gut damage. I'm just glad i found out about paleo while they are still young. They also seem to be able to fight colds off better. DS had been suffering with glue ear that was affecting his hearing And went for his hearing test and consultant review the other day and his ears have drained and his hearing is now better than average. I can't help but think that the removal of inflammatory grains has caused this.

Anyway, i'll get to my point. My concern with DH was are we demonising certain foods and possibly storing up an eating disorder in the future for them? Because we have more or less banned wheat and grains (they do still have it occasionally at parties etc) are we making it a bad food or because we have explained why we don't eat it anymore and what it does to your body, they will understand?

The DC are happy eating this way and we have periodically asked them how they feel since changing and they both say they feel better and more energy so it's not like we are forcing a diet on them that they hate.

Well, that was a bit of a ramble Blush. Off to try and find this thread you were all on about

vnmum · 11/10/2012 10:00

Oh yeah forgot to say
toomuch low carbing is known to be good for pms, that is one of the reasons it is used as a treatment in pcos. My pms has virtually disappeared. My cramps are hardly there either and my periods are shorter. Result!

humphrey i also used this bootcamp to cut out the dairy and the weight is now dropping off me. Before i would lose and gain the same few pounds but now i am the lowest i have ever been. Just wish i had tried it earlier then i may not have needed bootcamp this time around

HumphreyCobbler · 11/10/2012 10:10

oh yes, me too. I have been doing this for four months now Shock and apart from a planned cheat and my holiday I have stuck to it. If I had cut out dairy sooner I would be maintaining by now.

Doshusallie · 11/10/2012 10:12

damn - i'm going to have to give up dairy aren't I. Sad

vnmum · 11/10/2012 10:14

I GOT THE JOB!

Sorry for shouting, so pleased Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 11/10/2012 10:14

yes doshu i'm thinking that too... i have already used bootcamp to give up milk entirely (was still having one decaf coffee a day with milk) and i have stopped the cream too

trouble is, i find it hard to keep the fat levels up without a certain amount of cheese
