I think I am probably an imposter at this late stage. I just wanted to add that I did the Idiot Proof Diet (still am!) and went from 11.9 in April to 9.4 today. The only exercise I did was walking half an hour when I felt like I had time (not that often!) I am now a small size 12 and love this way of eating. It is never difficult to eat out either! I do eat a bit of v dark choc now and then but have managed to lose my sweet tooth overall. Sugar free jelly does the job when I have an urge. Or a dollop of cream cheese, splosh of cream, vanilla extract and a sprinkle splenda. Mix it up and it has a cheesecake texture and taste. Yum :) good luck everyone and I still want to get to the magic number 9 so will be pinching your tips and ideas too :)

Boobz · 09/10/2012 10:29

How much did you weigh when you started Collywibbles?

DIYapprentice · 09/10/2012 10:39

A relatively good day yesterday, tried some soya yoghurt for breakfast - realised I didn't like the flavour so added a scoop of chocolate protein shake. Felt like I was having a pudding for breakfast!!! Blush (Twas very nice though.) But at least I had something in my stomach before a workout as I had no time to cook anything up for myself.

I can see and feel a small difference while wearing some of my tops now, which is really positive, and a great incentive to stay on track.

JessicaWakefield · 09/10/2012 11:30

Doshusallie I made the braised cabbage yesterday early in the day and then reheated it in the evening and it was fine - in fact more than fine, absolutely delicious!

NewStartSameStory · 09/10/2012 11:47

There has been a training partner induced slip up but we were talking about what I was doing and why and I suspect I shall not be allowed to slip up again. Twas v nice though Blush

Breakfast 1 4:30am: scrambled eggs
breakfast 2 10:30am: sausage and egg buttie
Snack: Yoghurt.

I don't know if the others who have been training have found this BUT I am find long sustained training sessions far easier. Longer recovery but no shakes after training, ability to focus for longer etc. I haven't dropped training but it isn't at my most intensive normal either. I am finding coping with training fine. Not sure if the longer recovery is due to carb flu or changes in composition. Time will tell. Also face planting in training is not going to help that Blush Also I seem to feel better if I do something exercise wise every day atm. Rest days I suffer a lot more. Perhaps it's just cos I think about it more?

Exercise done: 4 hrs stamina, speed, strength and technique work.

The day is lovely so I am going to take some work and head out into the hills. Might even see if I can get a half hour hill walk in too.

TellMeLater · 09/10/2012 12:05

Hi fellow boot campers, yesterday was a fast day so I stayed away from this thread - too many tempting foods.

Started day off with a slice of uneaten bacon off dd's plate, v tempted by the black pudding but roped in my self control. Then off to bootcamp in the park and despite not have much food fuelling my body after fasting yesterday I felt strong and energetic and had a good session.

Just had Sundays pork shoulder for lunch served with home made coleslaw - even the mayo! The horseradish dressing had a bit of sugar but not more that 1 or 2 carbs, will work on making it lower now I know what it should taste like.....might get into coleslaws, they go so well with fatty foods - but not the supermarket stuff, most of it is horrible.

Dinner is looking like stir fried brown rice for dcs and stir fried Cauli rice for dh and I.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 09/10/2012 12:54

Its all gone a bit wrong for me Sad

I need my back sorted and then I can bootcamp again, until then I am going to take it easy and do bootcamp lightish. If I am not on soon, come find me and give me a kick up the bum with BIWI big stick.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 09/10/2012 13:12

Sorry to hear that Jax. I won't run after you with my stick while you're not feeling so good!

Princess - congratulations! Thanks What an incentive you will have to stick to low carbing! When is the wedding?

Lots of impressive exercise going on here as well.

Re link to amounts of exercise, I have none - but I've seen on several different forums/threads that statistic. Mind you, it must be an average. I can't believe that very intensive exercise can't have more of an effect.

Anyhoo - shouldn't be hear - am supposed to be interviewing at the moment - will be finished at 3.15 and then off to the gym.

OP posts:
Doshusallie · 09/10/2012 13:14

NewStart - are you in the army or something?

L: 3 fried eggs, bacon bits and mushrooms all fried in butter. Huge plateful.
coffee with a splash of cream

Thanks Jessica - will make that now then. Grin

Did my shop in Lidl this morning and it cost approx, £50 less than a standard shop in Tesco. Shock loads of fresh veg and fridge stuff (ham, yoghurt etc), and freezer meat.

tartiflette · 09/10/2012 13:32

Am also very impressed with the amount of exercise going on here. I personally hate it and have lost over 3 1/2 stone without doing anything other than a bit of toning/strength work (callanetics) so I can vouch for the fact that diet is the main factor. But obviously I can see there are other benefits, I just am extremely lazy loathe being out of breath and sweaty...

B - sausage, bacon and egg
L - picked at the chilli from a friend's bowl of chilli nachos at soft play - I might have some tuna mayo and salad in a bit
D - IPD moussaka with roasted green beans and courgettes

3 coffees so far. Feeling guilty about coffee intake although in fairness I've never found it a problem weight loss-wise. Should prob cut down though.

Welcome scarletpoppy, impressive loss - well done!

caramelwaffle · 09/10/2012 13:45

Good afternoon everyone.

Breakfast was Goats milk yoghurt before the gym
Two cups of herbal tea.
1l water

Lunch - fresh crabmeat, olives and chopped chillis with walnut oil.

Good luck wedding dress shopping princess
Hope you feel better soon Jax
Good news on your clothes now fitting DIY

caramelwaffle · 09/10/2012 13:47

Doshusallie Lidl is really good for cold meats like Parma ham I discovered a week or two ago.

Collywibbles · 09/10/2012 14:18

Tartiflette - I was the same about exercise but now I love it! There is something strangely satisfying about dripping sweat on the floor during exercise lol!

Boobz - I was 11.2 (I am 5'4") when I started Dukan (wash my mouth out with soap) in May last year - and very quickly lost 2 stone, but I hated Dukan so read lots of books, lurked on threads here and changed things around again. I then ended up on steroids (I have bowel disease) and went back up to 10.3 for a while before getting back to 9.12 about 2 months ago. I lost 2lb last week by going back to basics. Too many nuts / chunks of cheese and not enough proper meals had crept in, so it has been good for me to be disciplined. I have been exercising properly (& daily) since the beginning of September - a real mixture of stuff and have really noticed a change in my body shape. I just need to get rid of the flabby bits (and I can't even blame having children). I know I am not going to lose loads of weight but just want to be toned and firm. My insides also behave far better when I LC ......

Ooops - sorry for the essay .....

dotty2 · 09/10/2012 14:26

Been for a run - found it a bit hard, but on reflection that might be because of swimming yesterday (am not very fit and pushed myself yesterday). Have eaten too much and not really the right things (pate, cheese, etc) but at least it's all been lowish carb. Oh well - onwards.

caramelwaffle · 09/10/2012 14:33

It'll be worth it dotty2 In six months time you'll be completely changed.

TellMeLater · 09/10/2012 14:43

I have also been completely slobbish in the past - I only started running relatively recently using the c25k programme, the fitter you get the better exercising feels. Mind you dh loathes exercise, he got his fitness up using the same programme and goes for one run a week to keep his heart fit.

Poppy1234 · 09/10/2012 14:43

Just had fabulous lunch which was a huge hit all round including my mum and two toddlers. I made the creamy mushroom soup from HFW's Veg (excluding flour and sherry) along with these muffins divaliciousrecipesinthecity.com/2012/07/03/cheese-chive-and-onion-muffin-coconut-flour/ I'm hoping they aren't too offensive carb wise, absolutely gorgeous split, toasted and buttered.

BIBW, I hope I haven't gone completely off piste with these.

Delighted the cabbage recipe is a hit, I'm considering replicating with fennel.

B: Greek yoghurt
L: Mushroom soup with coconut flour muffins
D: Mint and chilli lamb cutlets with golden swede (from Nigelissima), green beans and fennel prepared in some way

dotty2 · 09/10/2012 14:44

We live in hope...

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 09/10/2012 14:44

I woke up this morning craving ..... Water and scrambled eggs Confused I think I can safely say, at the age of forty-harrumph, that is a first!! Grin

I too am very intrigued by what newstartsamestory does that involves SO much training, and early starts. Am imagining her as Victoria Pendleton in disguise, training for Strictly??? Wink

Am def feeling the Lidl love, my fridge is packed for under twenty quid!!

Feel a bit silly saying this, but I also feel better on this bootcamp for a more "woo" reason than just eating well. I am actually taking time, and making an effort, with food for ME. I'm not shovelling down some cereal in a rush in the morning, or standing feeling uninspired in front of the fridge then reaching for the bread for toast as the easiest thing. I am planning, preparing, chopping, cooking and plating up nice food that will do me good.

Like this morning, was rushing for school run so just had some yoghurt, but when I got back after walking the dog, I made a 2 egg omelette with mushrooms and grated cheese, put it on a pretty plate, made good coffee and went and sat down AT THE TABLE not sofa, and savoured it while looking over the papers from Sunday. That can only be good for self esteem, relaxation, good digestion from eating slowly and calmly, enjoying the flavours of my food yes? I think it helps my mood, anyway, sorry for being "woo".

caramelwaffle · 09/10/2012 14:59

An excellent post toomuch - you make a very good point about eating consciously.

EwanHoozami · 09/10/2012 15:25

am chuckling about having Ms. Pendleton among our number. I can imagine her gushing to Tess "I owe it all to BIWI and her big stick" Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 09/10/2012 15:45

you are so right toomuch, especially with your point about you being important enough to cook nice food for on your own

i love reading people's daily food diary on here, because they often include 3 or even 4 gourmet-style veg side dishes!

Doshusallie · 09/10/2012 15:50

TooMuch - you make an excellent point that resonates massively with me. DH can't believe it. If he didn't cook before I would either have wine and crisps, or toast or cereal. I was the lasziest eater on the planet. Last week, I made myself salmon patties just for me - I cook veg just for myself where necessary, actual real meals. This NEVER happened before.

NewStartSameStory · 09/10/2012 16:13

Toomuch: Hahaha! Me dance? Err No.
Doshu - have sustained too many injuries in the past, the army wouldn't take me.

I have in the past sustained various injuries which require regular undertaking of physio to ensure the reduction of pain. Don't do the physio then will suffer constant and sometimes activity limiting pain. It's not worth it, especially for not 4hrs ish of my week (1 long session and little bits every day that you don't really notice).

I also participate in a sport at at recreationally competitive level. That requires training. We have silly hours because it is not feasible for us to train at the same time as Joe Bloggs average person. It would be too problematic. So we have to work around that.

Ideally I should do some cross training to assist with the specific sport stuff actually I am really really crap at this and there is stretching out of muscles to prevent stiffness.

Plus it is coming up to competition season so everything is being ramped up. Extra specific training session/wk.

You quickly add up the hours BUT a lot of what I do is no where near as hard as some of the short more intensive sessions that others are doing. Most of them can't do a 4hr training session because the activity intensity is too high. And tbh I wouldn't want to do most of the activities others are doing. Too much like work. WinkGrin

Does that help explain a bit without me outing myself?

Struggling today with old eating habits. Skipped lunch. BIG mistake. Eating a salad now as it won't be tea until 9pm ish. BUT must remember not to leave lunch so late as I will feel incredibly rough, and spaced out.

vnmum · 09/10/2012 16:21

INterview went well. They seemed very positive and not phased by my time out of work etc, if anything they saw it as positive because I am mature but with the experience they are looking for. They have one more person to see so will let me know in a few days. I have my fingers crossed so tight, I really want it.

boobz I have some photos on my profile. I would be interested to see yours after P90X. The before and after pics tey show as part of their advert and the ones you can find on youtube seem very impressive. I would be tempted to try it myself but I may not have the time if I get this job and it does look very hardcore.

No breakfast for me
Lunch was 3 boiled eggs mashed in a cup with butter, cocnut oil and philly.
Snack of olives
Tea is salmon and salad

Got a bargain on the salmon in tesco reduced bit. A whole salmon for under £10. There were 2 so I snaffled them both. Well I couldn't leave themm on the shelf at that price Smile

Whip Glad you enjoyed your break and good news that you lost aswell. Don't be afraid to grieve fro your dog. They become members of your family and it is normal to feel their loss, just take care of yourself and the Blue Cross have counsellors if you ever felt like you needed to speak to someone.
