Week 1 Weigh-In - Little Black Dress Low Carb Boot Camp

WillieWaggledagger · 30/09/2012 16:17

i know you're all dying to get started on the low carb boot camp, and for those who haven't done this before, here is the link to the spreadsheet where you should record your starting weight for Monday 1st October in column c next to your name. Please don't touch any other columns for now

weight is recorded in lbs, so if you have problems converting from kg or stones, FiddledeFat made a handy widget which can be found in the tab at the bottom labelled 'conversion'

if your name isn't on the spreadsheet then you can add yourself by adding a new line and dragging the formulae down from an adjacent row, or just ask me to add you and I will do so as soon as i can

good luck with the first week of bootcamp!

I did a bit of it - Montigniac -sort of science. It sounds like I need refreshing then...From Briffa I put up his list of food from "Escape the Diet".
Ok, I'll put the chock back - thank you!

Doshusallie · 01/10/2012 20:00

Tea was salmon steaks cooked with a knob of butter x 2 with broccolli, and cabbage and leeks, also cooked in butter. Lovely.

Had another frankfurter and a chunk of cheese when I got home.

Must stop snacking, albeit low carb.

vnmum · 01/10/2012 20:02

Half Oh to be starting at 9st Envy

Whip Glad you are having a nice weekend Smile

No breakfast today as wasn't hungry (think it was seeing a 10 on the scales again that did it), went shopping and got some delicious olives from a local deli. Snacked on those this afternoon then had pork steak with meditteranean roast veg, griddled courgette, buttery mushrooms.

Just been to tesco and the lady behind me started to load her stuff on the belt. First things on were 8 WW frozen ready meals followed by 4 WW tinned soups. I actually felt sorry for her, her thinking she has to eat that tasteless processed frankenfood crap to lose weight Sad

WineGless · 01/10/2012 20:09

Vnmum I know what you mean/ I get my judgey pants on in supermarket when I see low fat high gi food in trolleys. I want to give them a low carb book to take home and read!

Poppy1234 · 01/10/2012 20:54

Thanks WineGless for the water tip, will try that tomorrow and see if I can kick start the water habit. Delighted to know Greek yoghurt is on the approved list. May try and alternate with an eggy breakfast to mix it up. I am loving reading everyone's food diaries. Lots of inspiration for meal ideas.

halfthesize · 01/10/2012 21:06

vnmum & winegless I have also found myself checking out other peoples trolleysGrin

I'm on my 7th pint of water, so well and truly sloshing! Dinner for me was chicken with lemon thyme and cream cooked in the slow cooker, it was yummySmile

TellMeLater · 01/10/2012 21:11

I'm joining in in a half hearted way. Low carbing but fasting twice a week. I am dodging around target but i wouldn't mind losing a few comfort lbs. Tortured myself by making chocolate topped spelt shortbread for he dcs, they smelt amazing! Am dreaming of low carb food - bacon, eggs and mushrooms planned for breakfast.

Today was a fast - so no breakfast

lunch - Greek yoghurt
Dinner - prawn vindaloo with cauliflower rice.

NotAgain I thought Green beans were ok from a carb pov.

aroomofherown · 01/10/2012 21:22

Well I've survived today despite it being a shit manic day at work (including travel it was 14 hours long and none of it time to do my admin - mostly meetings all day).

I have also had around 2.5 litres water, need another glass or two and then I'm off to beddiebyes!

MmeLindor · 01/10/2012 21:27

I have been checking other people's trolleys. When I see them with a trolley full of veg, meat and cheese, with no bread or pasta, I want to give them a wink.

I've resisted so far.

Ok, had chicken with asparagus and cream and two glasses of champagne

HumphreyCobbler · 01/10/2012 21:44

I have now drunk the required amount of water. Hallelujah.

ABitWoozy · 01/10/2012 21:47

Quick question to those in the know: how to deal with exercising in the first 2 weeks?

I did a military bootcamp-thing in my local park at the weekend but felt well rough partway through, dizzy and nauseous, felt like my blood sugar had plummeted.
Army bloke has told me to have porridge or a banana at least an hour before the next one, can I get away with this and not undo all the good low carb work? If the carbs are a no-no, what's best to have? Protein?

I've signed up to once a week but I plan to get out for a short run a couple of times a week in between to build up my exercise tolerance so I don't have to sit out halfway through like this week Blush

SkaffenAmtiskaw · 01/10/2012 21:55

MmeLindor, I do that too (checking other people's trolleys) Grin

Breakfast was 2 egg omelet with mushrooms and cream
Lunch: 1 tub coleslaw + 1 packet slices roast chicken breast
Dinner: salad of lettuce, 1 tomato, 1 courgette, mizuma, rocket, salad onion and slices of roasted pork belly.

I had a rather long and boring meeting this afternoon and am very pleased that I managed to snub the biscuits.

Not sure how much water I've drunk so far, but at least 2 litres I think.

BellaVita · 01/10/2012 22:04

Hello Grin

I saw BIWI on Saturday and she looks fantastic.

So... Let me get this right... No fruit, BUT you can have salad yes? Can have veg's, but no carrots, parsnips, squash?

I will struggle with the water as I sit on a reception and have to get someone to cover when I go to the loo.

Willowisp · 01/10/2012 22:14

Shagmundfreud which probiotics do you use ?

NotMostPeople · 01/10/2012 22:24

Don't forget tomatoes are fruit.

I forgot the water! Will get slurping tomorrow.

I had an avocado with prawn mayo.

Not enough veg/salad today so must do more tomorrow. Nice to be back on board. It's been fab throwing out the size 16 winter clothes and buying new in a 12, I've even got the odd size 10 in my wardrobe now.

caramelwaffle · 01/10/2012 22:28

Well done NMP

Tonight had cold meats, olives, feta cheese and mayonnaise.

Wasn't really hungry and think these would be better to have for breakfast.

WineGless · 01/10/2012 22:32

Well done NMP
I haven't got properly on track since summer Hols but have dropped at least one dress size. Lovely feeling to be buying new smaller clothes which fit and look good on you

frumpet · 01/10/2012 22:35

Forgot i have a party at the weekend , which is better to drink dry white wine ot G&T ( slimline)? Might add that this is my only social until nearly christmas !

WineGless · 01/10/2012 22:37

G&t with slimline tonic will have less carbs

If its your treat - which do you prefer?

TellMeLater · 01/10/2012 22:46

Tomatoes are only 3.1g, so not too bad at all - I don't think we're including the vegetable fruits in the category of banned fruits. You can have cucumber, aubergine, pepper etc. although red peppers can be a little higher.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 01/10/2012 22:46

Have managed Level 1, Day 1 of the Shred. God, thought my knees were going to give way halfway through. I am so unfit! But this time I mean it, I want to do something about my abysmal fitness levels and lose about 4 inches off my waist and get rid of the mummy tummy.

Dinner was chicken curry, mmm, and I had a post-Shred snack of roast beef slices with ff mayo and sliced tomato. Tomato, especially really ripe ones, tastes lush to me now!

WillieWaggledagger · 01/10/2012 22:49

Too immature well done, I'm psyching myself up for shred tomorrow. I HATE it but I know it's good for me. I love running but my body seems to have adapted to it so I need to do additional things which really push me

Added my weight to the spreadsheet - weighed and measurements done first thing this morning :-) Did a Ab Attack class and took the dogs for a walk / jog - I had to cut my route short as I was desperate for a wee lol! I guess all that water has to go somewhere!
B: scrambled eggs (2) with cream & olives
L: Ham, coleslaw, broccoli (with butter), cold chicken, Cucumber
T: Cold sausage (low carb meaty one), mashed cauli with butter, cucumber, coleslaw
Had a pounding headache all day despite drinking loads of water :-(

TellMeLater · 01/10/2012 22:54

Abitwoozey there are a few of us who exercise quite intensely and eat low carb, so it's certainly doable, although when you are going through carb withdrawal you may feel pretty awful - light headed, dizzy etc. it took me a couple of days to see that through, I slept loads then I was fine. Now I do bootcamp twice a week and run around 25k, I also fast twice a week, my body uses fat for energy without many issues.

But everyone is different, you may take longer to adjust, you may feel the withdrawal more intensely....play it by ear but I doubt you need to carb load before every training session - your body will not have processed the slow release carbs from the porridge in time for your session anyway. Give your body a little time to adjust and used to burning fat rather than carbs, exercise less intensely at bootcamp - just for a week or two.

MmeLindor · 01/10/2012 23:06

BIWI
I am a failure. I have drunk 3/4 of the bottle

Will reboot tomorrow. Honest.
