OHforDUCKSchristmasCake I am doing KB L3 at the minute, and I am maintaining weight despite my body shape really transforming. Even I can see it. But of course all that chocolate I eat every day! Still, not putting on an ounce in December is not to be sniffed at. We'll get there.

Normally I am always more diligent at the beginning of the year, so I am still wondering what to get for after 6W6P which I will hopefully start next week. There is another stone to lose for me, so I was thinking one of the tougher regimes like Turbofire, Body Revolution or Insanity. Realistically though it should not be much longer than 40 minutes, as getting up at 5.50 am is a struggle enough already. Or shall I try Killer Abs? What do you think? I love contemplating what to do next Grin

McPie You are superb! Well done.

threesteps Maybe a little rest over Christmas would help you. your body might just be tired...

themaltesecat How is it even possible to do KB and then NMTZ?! Wow! Xmas Envy

xelliex Have you tried 6W6P? That is my favourite. (I mean I hate it, but that was the hardest for me at the time.)

xelliex · 14/12/2012 22:09

Hi gingercat I tried 6w6p on tuesday but my dds kept interrupting. I did it again on wednesday followed by the first four circuits of NMTZ and I can still feel it today! But in a good way, like I know I worked out.

I've got a cold now but I want to do it again on saturday before I forget all the moves. I seriously could not keep up with the circuit second time round, and as for the side plank raises - owee - and normally I sort of like the plank stuff!

noseynoonoo · 14/12/2012 22:19

Hello everyone. I am considering buying the Shred.
I started running this year but having reached my initial target I have lost my focus. I have about a stone to lose, perhaps a bit more.

Do I need any equipment? What should I wear e.g. on my feet? Can I do it on carpet?

I'm most reluctant because I have tried a couple of videos over the years and they have all given me pain in my knees and I am reluctant to buy another video only to end up ebaying due to sore knees.

Any other tips? Am a bit scared.

noseynoonoo · 14/12/2012 22:45

Also, I'm unlikely to be able to do it everyday - perhaps 3 times a week. Is it important to do it every day?

threestepsforward · 15/12/2012 21:43

Evening all!

Welcome Nosey Smile

You should be fine on a carpet. Most people I think wear trainers of some sort, but I never feel comfortable in them and go bare foot. Try with trainers if you can though.

You'll need handweights eventually (anything between 1kg and 3-4-5!), but don't worry if you don't have them yet, you can use cans of beans, or water bottles or whatever for the time being.

Hmm, knees might be a bit of a problem if you tend to get knee niggles. There's a lot of lunging, squats etc. in Shred. But...you could see how you go and if you're finding it hard on the knees you could substitute exercises with others that don't hurt. You'll get familiar with all the different excercises as you go along.

Give it a go and see how you get on! Re how many times a week, I reckon 3 will be fine. You may find you can squeeze in 1 or 2 more sessions as it's only 20 mins. Good luck Smile

I managed a BFBM today, hurrah! I'd love to say my body was tired gingercat, bless you, but I think I've just been a lazy mare!!

Good news is my beloved dog has turned a corner and is on the mend Grin I think that had a lot to do with my lack of motivation recently. So am going to step up a gear in the last few days up to christmas.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

Movingforward123 · 16/12/2012 10:16

Hi everyone

I keep meaning to shred but don't feel that motivated, I am dieting and have lost some weight but I know I need to exercise too.

I started shred in january last year, I did 10 days in a row and noticed a difference then stopped Confused

Do you think if I shred 3-4 times per week I will still notice a difference??

GeekLove · 16/12/2012 22:16

moving

You will definately notice a difference if you do it 3-4 times a week as that is what I do. When you are a bit more confidant on form try using heavier reps to get more of an effect.

noseynoonoo · 17/12/2012 10:01

Thank you threesteps

Am a bit worried that it has the lunges. It's always these that do me in - I need a big mirror to check I am doing it right. I know this will annoy me and it will be the thing that makes me turn off the TV.

If it is the 30 days shred, do I do it for 30 days (which at 3 times a week would be 13 sessions) or do I do 30 sessions (which would take 70 days)?

threestepsforward · 17/12/2012 13:36

See how you go Nosey, with the lunges. Make sure your form for them is as good as you can (don't let knee go over /overshoot your foot on the leg that's bent), it could be okay, good luck Smile

I'd say do at least 7 days on each level, so 7 of L1, 7 of L2 etc. You could do more, I think I did 10, or you could do less if you're finding it easy.

Doing a minimum of 3 a week, you'll definitely see a difference. It's amazing really what an affect a 20 min workout can have - I'm still convinced it's magic and she is a wizard lol

I did another BFBM yesterday, 2 in a row Shock

tempted to keep doing it this week as calorie burning is my main objective in the run-up to my christmas pig fest!

Evening all!

Couldn't face a BFBM hat trick so did L3 Shred instead. I enjoyed it! Apart from Killer Buns, it's the JM level that feels like it targets my wobbly bum the most...realised you can even make those sumo jumps act on your bum with a hefty squeeze Grin

Hope everyone's doing okay

gingercat12 · 18/12/2012 12:19

threesteps well done. Looks like you are on the mend then.

noseynoonoo The Shred is ok on fitted carpet, but if you - like us - have a rug on wood flooring, I would advise you to have a yoga mat.

Good luck moving!

Just finished KB, so tomorrow it is 6W6P for me.

I feel a bit under the weather, so if I do not get on here till Christmas again, Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year! to you all. And of course the lovely Jillian.

threestepsforward · 18/12/2012 17:46

gingercat, congratulations on getting through KB, that is no mean feat - are they now titanium? Grin

Have a great Christmas, and hope you feel better soon...

I seem to have emerged from my fug and did BFBM this afternoon. Felt much easier this time round, it's amazing how quick your fitness levels improve. So in last 4 days I have done 3 BFBM and 1 L3 Shred, I'm on a roll!

OP posts:
CHST · 19/12/2012 09:50

hi everyone! gingercat good luck with 6w6p, will look forward to hearing how you are getting on!

threesteps that is some roll!!!!

As for me I am on the sick bench. My Insanity dvds come with a bonus upper body weight training that I never did when I did Insanity as I just didn't know where to fit it in. It was a really good workout actually and in places could have gone heavier with the weights (which I don't have) I did this monday and tuesday woke up feeling crap. A combination of working muscles I hadn't for a while and also a cold on my chest. I felt so ick so did nothing yesterday.Feel a bit better today but am going to take it slow and do some yoga and re-assess tomorrow.

Is anyone else on maintenance? I have decided to cut down my workouts....obviously when doing insanity it was 6 days a week but I am cutting that down to 4 times a week and see where it takes me. It is really hard having rest days but I really feel there is nothing to gain from that level anymore and I don't want to risk burn out, particularly as I am not a big eater.

gingercat12 · 19/12/2012 13:15

CHST Hope you will fell better soon. I will probably be able to do less exercise over Christmas just due to guests, etc, so it is probably maintenance mode for me, too. Roll on January!

threesteps You are well and truly back Grin
My buns are definitely more toned than before, but I only compare myself to myself. If in December 2011 any of you showed me a photo of myself in December 2012, I would have thought you were joking.

Nothing is wrong with me, it is just dark and cold, and I do not feel like getting up at 5.50. Enjoyed L1 6W6P though. My abs did not scream so much, and my arch-enemies - plank-jacks and side-planks - were suprisingly easy.

gingercat12 · 19/12/2012 13:18

If any of you see some affordable, but not too cumbersome hand-weights (in the sales), please, let me know. I would like to move up to 3Kg and DH would like 5Kg ones, but my own ones at home are just huge.

CHST · 19/12/2012 14:34

ginger sounds like you have made a lot of progress!! So fantastic too actually start enjoying exercises you previously struggled with!

I am also looking for heavier weights so watch with interest. There are some adjustable weights on amazon but I think I'd prefer separate dumbells....I'm looking for 5kg+

threestepsforward · 19/12/2012 16:00

gingercat and CHST, you may have already, but if you haven't have a look on the Argos website, they have loads of them on there. They might be on sale after Christmas / New Year too Smile

I got all mine (1.5, 2 and 3) from my local sports shop, but what they had in was random and it was pot luck really...

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 19/12/2012 17:52

Another BFBM in the bag, huzzah!

I think I will do a Shred tomorrow and then nothing on Friday and Saturday as I won't have time. Hopefully will be able to squeeze something in on Sunday before I depart for Christmas with family on Monday. Will have to lug a pile of presents around with me on the train so hopefully JM'ing will have prepared me well!

CHST hope you feel better soon. I think it's a good idea to use the Christmas time to have a proper break and recharge your batteries! I'm not sure about maintenance. My whole exercise regime is totally dependent on my mindset, which isn't ideal, and I'm not really dieting, but try not to have chocolate in the house as that is fatal! But cutting down from 6 times a week to 4 times would make sense to me for maintenance.

Gingercat that is really fab about the changes to your body. I wish I'd taken before and after pics actually, as I'm sure my body must be generally a lot more toned than it was before I embarked on JM. I'd recommend anyone starting out to do that, and to measure body parts with a tape measure.

Well done on starting 6W6P!

Have a good evening everyone Smile

Aspiemum2 · 19/12/2012 17:57

Ok, which ones best for quickest overall results? I have 6w6p as my tummy is my problem area but I'm in a lull and need something to get stuck into that will give my weight loss an extra boost.
Recommendations?

threestepsforward · 19/12/2012 18:21

Hi Aspiemum, for boosting weight loss, and if you're sticking to JM (so ignoring the £££ Turbofire and Insanity), I would definitely recommend Burn Fat Boost Metabolism (BFBM).

It's around 45 mins and is all cardio so targets weight loss / calorie burn. It does have a good core circuit in it too so you get some abs / plank work as well.

That would defo be my recommendation for boosting weight loss. You could mix it up in the week with her other stuff so you'd still be doing some strength work too...

OP posts:
Aspiemum2 · 19/12/2012 18:51

Is it really, really hard? there should be a wimp icon

threestepsforward · 19/12/2012 19:46

Aspie, there are 2 circuits that are hard compared with the others - lots of jumping (there are 7 circuits in all). 2 of them are kickboxing and quite easy, so it's a mixed bag!

You'll definitely feel worked out by the end!! You can choose to play circuits individually too so you could start that way and work up to the full 7 if you wanted to.

If you've been doing her other stuff, you'll definitely find it do-able though, go for it!
