Arcadie the speed of 6W6P is insane isn't it?

Ohforducks, I can only echo what everyone else has said. The pain (oh the pain!) is a very common side effect of the first days of Shred! I had to hold onto the towel rail to lower myself down on the loo and come downstairs sideways. The good news is...it will pass! By about day 3 or 4 you'll be through it!

Can I also compliment you on the use of "Wowzers" - I love that word Grin (Inspector Gadget??)

Well I have been hiding in L1 Shred for the past 3 days as I can't seem to summon up the energy or courage to try anything else at the mo. Having said that, circuit 1 strength gets me every time. After the press ups, the squat and lift bit, ow ow ow!! I may not have time tonight, but if I do it will be another L1 on the menu ...

Have a good evening all Smile
(hope you are doing okay notyummy)

Evening all, I've not been on here for a few weeks as although I have followed the thread. I've not done any Jillian at all apart from L2 shred tonight. Apart from having a bit of a cold I've no real excuses either, I just seem to lose motivation this time of year.

I'm thinking now that as it's only four weeks to xmas day I really should try to step it up a bit, and eat better, so that come January I don't feel like I have a mountain to climb! Think I'll have to ask for some new Jillian dvds for xmas though, I'm getting a bored of shred and ripped now I've finished them.

TrustMeImANinja · 27/11/2012 18:03

Ive name changed from Duckscake

Thanks for your replies!

I managed to get in another set today, I didnt hink I would but I'll keep woth it now.

I laughed out loud at 'walking down the stairs sideways' walking down the stairs is the worst!

Also can I ask, has anyone done the shred with seperated stomach muscles? I think I'll do the rest of the 28 days with a girdle in hope that zi fix it not make it worse...

CHST · 27/11/2012 19:33

babbas well done on the weightloss!
I am getting the munchies a lot at night time recently...I blame the cold weather!

Trustme I hope the pain eases up soon. I know I had problems with separated stomach muscles after the birth of my son but I didn't properly start exercising till he was about 2 1/2 so it might have repaired somewhat.

I did Bob Harper total body transformation yesterday forgetting what a masochist he is! He likes to keep you in a squat and holding weights with arms pressed out for uncomfortably long periods of time. The bastard!

Today I did Killer Abs level 3. I found a fair few moves challenging, namely the static superman with weight pass, the clapping mountain climbers and the one legged burpees with push up but good challenging. I really really like all levels of this dvd. I think what I like is there are a lot of new moves, a lot of twists on traditional moves so doesn't feel like same old same old. There was nothing there that I thought I can't do it. I would totally reccomend this dvd to everyone. Beware it is region 1 though...they come out eventually in region 2.

Tomorrow I want to do cardio so will either do an insanity workout or cardio 3 from the body revolution or maybe bfbm.

TrustMeImANinja · 28/11/2012 07:18

Not so sore today! Onwards and upwards!

Aspiemum2 · 28/11/2012 07:25

I bought 6w6p last week having previously been a Davina devotee. I have no aspirations of actually getting a 6 pack but after having twins 6 months ago I wanted a workout that focused heavily on my tummy.
I started on Friday and had a sneaky mid week weigh in yesterday - I lost 3 lbs!! I have pcos and never lose weight like that, I'm amazed. Plus I am so much more comfy in my trousers already :-)

I thing I am a JM convert, I love the pace compared to Davina

threestepsforward · 28/11/2012 10:22

Aspiemum that is fantastic! Glad you have found JM, she is brill Smile

Well done Trustme, you're through the worst, yay! Keep going, you'll be amazed at the results after a month, it is so worth doing!

Thanks for the Killer Abs recommendation CHST. Are there plans to release it over here do you know? I'd definitely be tempted! Also, is there much cardio in it?

Have a good day all. I will be doing some form of JM torture later, just not sure what yet!

OP posts:
TrustMeImANinja · 28/11/2012 11:11

I used to be a Davina devotee also, but prefer shred so far.

What is 6w6p?

Aspiemum do you not have seperated stomach muscles after twins? Im jealous. Envy

Aspiemum2 · 28/11/2012 11:14

I did, really badly Sad. I started exercising after my post natal check up and couldn't draw in my abs as I couldn't even feel them - it was so weird.
I did walking and swimming instead and I can feel them again now but can't draw them in like I used to. I'm hoping that time, patience and JM will bring them back!

Aspiemum2 · 28/11/2012 11:16

Sorry - It's 6 week 6 pack, I bought it on amazon Black Friday deals for £3.50 Grin

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 28/11/2012 11:30

Hi guys,

Is 30DS enough as an exercise routine? I haven't exercised in months...will a month of doing this alone make any difference to my body and fitness levels?

CHST · 28/11/2012 12:04

Aspie well done on the weightloss!!!
threesteps little cardio especially beginner version but adding plyo aka advanced does have elements of cardio. I don't know of plans to release it here. Do you have a lap top? It let me change to region 1 so I can play it on my lap top. My dvds are wierd...some are actually region zero and do play but this and extreme shed and shred are both region 1. I think you can get shed and shred uk version. Im sure it will be released as a uk version at some point.
Mychild definitely enough especially at the beginning, you'd be surprised. Some of the more advanced Jillianers double up exercises. It will make a difference. You can make harder by increasing weight also. 30day shred is an excellent starting point and was mine.

Today was the first time I have EVER involuntary sworn at a workout. Not even in Insanity did I do this! I did Bob Harper totally ripped core....had been sitting in the packaging for ages so finally got to try it out. It was actually a really nice, good, doable workout most of the way through but the last section is just abs abs abs no rest from one exercise to another when you have already been working your core the whole way through. The last exercise is bicycles which okay are not bad on their own but when you have just done some intense ab work and they are bicycle sprints as fast as you can...hmm. My abs already felt ripped apart. After the first one, he gave a little rest and while you were hugging your knees, he lets you know you are going to do it all over again. "Fuck off" came out of my mouth. Lol!
I expect to be very sore in the core tomorrow. So will give my body a break with some yoga.

gingercat12 · 28/11/2012 12:18

CHST Killler Abs it is for me next year then Grin
I know what you mean about BH's Totally Ripped Core. I am obv not as fit, as you are, but I thought my abs would just tear apart. Maybe after another lot of 6W6P and Killer Abs, I'll try him again.

This morning I decided that despite the sweating and pain, I am really not "giving everything" in KB L2, so decided to do it weights. Still sweaty and in pain, but hopefully it makes me stronger.

Trustme Separated stomach muscles sound awful.

Aspie Good luck! It is such an achievement to just to be able to sit up after having a baby. I'll go and check Amazon out now... [scurries away]

Aspiemum2 · 28/11/2012 14:47

Blush thanks everyone Grin. I just feel so huge right now that I'm so excited at the first sign of it working!

Obviously I've still got over 5 weeks left but any other JM recommendations for afterwards - which ones the best?

TrustMeImANinja · 28/11/2012 15:56

ginger pretty much everyone gets seperated stomach muscles with pregnancy. Its just occasionally they dont fuse back together, multiple pregnancies, huge babies or twins/triplets/so on.

It sounds painful but most wont even notice unless its very severe.

Excercise can worsen it as well, Im on tenterhooks with that one.

threestepsforward · 28/11/2012 22:49

Goodluck Trustme with the stomach muscles, sounds horrendously painful. I think if you're finding all is well so far with Shred, you should be okay, it eases you in gently.

Well, I did, can you guess, L1 Shred!!

I am in no way running down L1 Shred (honestly, it's still a toughie), but I have been doing JM for many many many months and I am most definitely phoning it in at the moment!

Work is busy though, so when I'm short of time, and short of motivation, it seems like the best option. Best to do that then think I can't be arsed at all, which I often think lately.

Can someone please give me a monumental kick up the bum to do something else tomorrow?

Definitely not got the energy or inclination for a pure cardio thing - so that rules out BFBM and turbofire, so it may be Killer despite saying I'll do that for the last week

Please Jillian, help me find by A-Game!!

OP posts:
TrustMeImANinja · 29/11/2012 06:23

Seperated stomach muscles isnt painful, you cant feel it. It happens in pregnancy so its a very slow process, most women get it.
I wish I could motivate you but Im afraid I dont understand most of what you just said. Im very new to JM, in fact as a rule I never ever exercise! I liked Davina years and years ago but that was it.

So Im on day 4 and bloody hell, I can already see a difference! I literally did a double take in the mirror, I never expected to see a difference so quick!

I nearly got on the scales but managed to refrain, the scales are my friend and my enemy. They spur me on if Ive lost but kill my determination if I dont lose. And since this DVD is about muscle toning then I dont expect to lose yet amd didnt want to be disheartend.

Has anyone done before and after photos? Ive taken one on day 1, then I will do on day 10, 20 and 30.

gingercat12 · 29/11/2012 12:39

Threestepsforward Go on and just do it! (Sorry not good at shouting.)

TrustMeImANinja I wish I did before and after photos, but I never expected it to work...

D7 of KB L2. Miraculously I am finding it easy (on my own very low-level way - clearly I am no Natalie or Anita), so trying to do lower squats, higher jumps, etc.

threestepsforward · 29/11/2012 14:10

Trustme that is brilliant!! It's a really good idea to take pics, sadly I didn't. Also if you have time measure your bits (thighs, arms, tummy etc.) with a tape measure and watch the measurements fall Smile

I'd be tempted to say stay away from the scales as you may well get a bit heavier due to building lean muscle!

Thanks gingercat, I'm going to try and break out of my Shred comfort zone today! Well done with Killer, I think L2 is the hardest...(is that the level with rockstars and cannonballs, or am I getting confused?)

Have a good rest of day all Smile

OP posts:
CHST · 29/11/2012 18:26

threesteps that's level 3 with the rockstars and cannonballs and is my favourite part [embarrassed]
Trustme definitely take measurements and photos!
threesteps do you have shed and shred? I like that one, or yoga meltdown...level 1 is on you tube I think?
I did yoga today...twas lovely as my hamstrings feel tight/a little pulled.
I might do shed and shred tomorrow or a killer buns or maybe insanity...will see how crazy I feel tomorrow!
Keep up the good work everyone!

CHST · 29/11/2012 18:27

Blush darn you emoticons!

TrustMeImANinja · 29/11/2012 19:16

So what does everyone eat, are you on diets too? Or just eat healthily?

CHST · 29/11/2012 20:08

No diet here...I do not do anything that is not sustainable long term. Obviously I don't eat shit all day. I make healthier choices like wholemeal bread, sweet potatoes instead of white, semi skimmed milk etc. I don't eat huge portions either.
Most of my dinners unless I am having a lazy day are cooked from scratch so no ready, processed meals. Needs must sometimes though!
I rarely drink alcohol/pop
That's about it really. Have started getting the munchies recently which is not good!!!

gingercat12 · 29/11/2012 20:46

Similarly to CHST I do not eat rubbish, but during the day I restrict my calorie intake: porridge, then salad and fruit (and lately Kinder Bueno - I am having the worst PMS ever). No bread usually. DH always cooks from scratch - normally veg and meat or fish + pudding (lately mince pies or choccie biccies).
I know pudding means I am not actually losing weight, but at the moment I cannot help it.

MightTinge · 30/11/2012 09:07

Can I ask how many days did people spend on L1 Shred before they went to L2? Im 5 days in on L1, I intended to do 10 but Im bored. Tempted to do L2 already...
