A thread for those wanting to have a go at the 7lbs in 7 days Juice 'Diet' by Jason Vale.

Hardcore juicers will consume juice for 7 days and nothing else. Less hardcore juicers may be replacing 1 or 2 meals a day with juice. All juicers welcome Grin

I plan to do it for 1 week (at the moment).

Last time I followed the plan - I felt refreshed, revitalised and clean.

We plan to start on Monday morning.

The recipe book can be bought very cheaply on ebay. Or the iphone app is only a couple of quid.

To get us started I am posting a shopping list which should cover the first three days, with plenty of stuff over for the rest of the week. The last time I did this 3-day shop online (Asda) it cost me about £30 (not including the supplements)

12 lemons
4 limes
35 apples (not Granny Smiths ? they don?t juice well)
3 avocados
3 pineapples
3 cucumbers
3 bananas
Bag of carrots
Bunch of celery
1 head of broccoli
1 raw beetroot
1 courgette
Stem of fresh ginger
1 bag watercress
1 bag spinach
1 bulb fennel
Fresh mint (optional)
Fresh parsley (optional)
Large pot natural (unsweetened) yoghurt
Ice cubes

Wheatgrass powder
Spirulina powder
Probiotic powder/tablets

I'm here... i've got some spirulina in the cupboard somewhere.

I'll hunt for the scales over the weekend Sad

I had 3 juices a day last time and a healthy-ish evening meal.
I lost 7 lbs the first week, and a stone and a bit over a couple of months, I did relax it quite a bit by then.

But I usually had a juice for breakfast, and another for lunch.

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 26/07/2012 21:25

Yep, digging out the juicer and blender and will buy twenty tons of apples and cucumbers over the weekend (last time I did it I felt really pervy with about 6 large cucumbers in my trolley! We could write a new veg based S&M novel '50 Shades of Green'.

I'm quite excited to be starting juicing again and this time every time I want to CHEW something I will just post on here and someone will hopefully talk me down. I feel really podgy and uncomfy and want to look as good as poss for a wedding next month.

catinboots · 26/07/2012 21:43

I've lost nearly a stone low-carving in the last two months. But I feel blubbery and washed out. Hoping this will revive me

35 apples in 3 days? Holy fuck!

I want to try it, but I'm looking at things like... Ginger and fennel and thinking that I won't like the taste of the drinks :? can they be substituted for diff drinks?

catinboots · 26/07/2012 22:04

They are yum - honest. And i just left out stuff i didn't like or put something similar in

OP posts:
Macchiato · 26/07/2012 22:10

If you need to chew.... Could you maybe leave say, a carrot out and nibble on that instead of juicing it?

I did slim fast not long ago, liked it, but missed eating!

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 26/07/2012 22:18

I KNOW! The amount of apples is flipping insane!LOL Last time I got them in Aldi and that cut the cost a bit. I agree with cat the juices are really nice. I didn't like the taste when avocado had been added to one of them (and also didn't like having to get out the blender to smush it because you can't put it in the juicer, so I just ate the avocado instead. I tried v hard to stick to juice only but fell off the wagon a couple of times. I still lost weight though (and I find it really really hard to lose weight unless I'm mega stressed which isn't a great diet plan.

catinboots · 27/07/2012 16:01

Asda order done. Coming Sunday night!

OP posts:
poppedoutforapintofmilk · 27/07/2012 19:35

Should we have an Olympic style countdown? I'm off to Aldi tomorrow. There won't be an apple or a cucumber left in the place by the time I leave.

Iwannamovenow · 27/07/2012 20:58

I've just been to sainsburys and bought my bodyweight in fruit.

I bought everything he suggested the first time, but didn't like some of the juices.

So I stick to the apple, cucumber, lime, avocado and pineapple one.
I sometimes add a couple of sticks of celery and it's lovely.

He says that you need a jug blender, but i've managed fine with just a stick type one.
And my juicer's a cheap one I got from LLoyds chemist for a tenner.

I'm getting scared now :o

Weigh-in and measurements to be done on Sunday!

Sluttybuttons · 28/07/2012 10:27

Just seen this. Ive been doing it for 2 days now but having a meal at night. No idea of weight cos my scales are dead lol. I just need to get back in my nice jeans again and hopefully lose more so i get to buy new jeans. Im combining juicing with tescos diet

Iwannamovenow · 29/07/2012 08:16

I got up this morning and decided to start today... seeing as I spent yesterday eating iced fingers.

I'm halfway through a hot water with lemon and i've got an apple, lime, cucumber, pineapple and avocado juice sat waiting for me, along with various vitamins.
I've got spirulina tablets, rather than the powder to add in the juices.

I found his tip about washing the juicer before you drink it, to be good.
At least the damn thing's clean for the next time... because if you leave it, it's easy to give up and have something else (especially if you're starving, as I was last time)

Weighing and measuring has been done Blush
I've put half a stone back on, I lost 17lbs last time, which was the last of my baby weight, and a bit more...
And I lost 16 inches, some of which have reappeared Sad

Good luck everyone :)

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 29/07/2012 13:12

Been on a mission to Aldi and Sainsbury's this morning and got all the stuff. My tiny kitchen and fridge are stuffed to the rafters with it. I stuck to the washing the juicer before drinking the juice tip and agree its a good idea. That was one of the most annoying bits of the diet - washing the flipping juicer ever 5 seconds. I felt like a slave to the thing! Good luck everyone. I'm starting in the morning.

catinboots · 29/07/2012 13:21

I've got the iPhone app. Has anyone else downloaded it?

OP posts:
poppedoutforapintofmilk · 29/07/2012 17:44

My phone is like something out of the Flintstones so can't download app. I've eaten absolute RUBBISH all day: big kit kat, toast, small bar of dairy milk etc and am now ready to make my body a shrine to healthiness, shininess, slimness and wonderfulness! Well if not all that lot, then a few pounds lighter anyhow.

bargainlil · 29/07/2012 21:18

I've found the recipes on an old daily mail article from 2006, but can't find anywhere on line to say which juice to have when or any of the diet "rules"
Can anyone who has a copy of the book please give me some of the basics to follow please?

catinboots · 30/07/2012 11:22

bargain - I'll post some recipes later when I get home. Have you got an iPhone? There is an app you can download.

Just had my 2nd super juice and it was lush. Been good and washing the juicer before drinking. I wonder how long that will last!!

OP posts:
poppedoutforapintofmilk · 30/07/2012 12:41

Just slurping down second superjuice too. I think the spirulina powder I have makes it taste not as nice as it should. Also it makes the juice a bilious green colour. Still I am NOT going to whinge. I shall think of the good it is doing. Have broken a nail taking the juicer apart prior to washing it. Still, no pain, no gain. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Iwannamovenow · 30/07/2012 14:47

I've had 2 superjuices, a bowl of bran flakes and a banana and a mcdonalds hot chocolate

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 30/07/2012 17:55

Well apart from hot chocolate you've done pretty well wanna Ihave been less hungry than usual today and am only on my third juice! I'm usually ravenous all the time so this is pretty unusual. Only thing is I've had an evil headache all afternoon which I'm guessing is due to caffeine withdrawal as I have about 4/5 really strong coffees a day. I had a chocolate craving while I was out but resisted doing anything about it which is really good for me. So day one nearly done. How is everyone finding it so far?

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 30/07/2012 17:58

I have bought a big bag of ice cubes and am pouring the juices over 2 or 3 cubes. They taste even nicer really cold.

bargainlil · 30/07/2012 20:22

Did ok today too! I managed to down load the App so got more of an idea as to what I should be doing now!
Due to a mad morning away from home I wasn't able to have a juice until about 5pm tonight so gone completely off the plan but I did have 2 Lemon Ginger zingers and a super juice express - all of them tasted really good & enjoyed it more than I thought I would & felt full after drinking them. I've not snacked on anything all day either.

Does anyone know if you have to drink all of the juices in the days plans to make sure the plan works - ie lose 7lb in 7 days - I'm just wondering that if I'm not hungry then I shouldn't really eat/drink the juice iyswim?

I've also drank about 4 litres of water through the day too but not managed to fit in any exercise due to the mad morning! I'll swim for 30 minutes first thing in the morning though & then again in the evening.
Here's to a great day 2 tomorrow

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 30/07/2012 22:11

bargain when I did the 7 lbs in 7 days before I didn't have all the juices for each day. I just wasn't hungry so thought I'd just have one when I felt I wanted one. It seemed to work fine last time. Today I've had 2 super chute juices and 2 super juices. Last time I did it I did have one or two cheats because I was soooo desperate to CHEW something. Am determined to stick to it properly this time though. I found this evening a bit harder than the daytime was, as I'm normally at my most hungry from 7pm onwards (Which could I suppose just be a habit I've got into). I didn't manage any exercise today either because of killer headache. Hopefully will do something tomorrow.one down 6 to go. I second the toast to day 2. Wine

Iwannamovenow · 31/07/2012 09:34

I managed 2 super juices yesterday, but had food at teatime.

Had a hot water with lemon this morning and another superjuice.
Must try harder today :)

Bargain he says in the book, if you're not hungry then don't have them all.
The list is a guideline on how many you can have.
